In Bible days, men wore robes or gowns. When they fought or ran, they had to gird up their loins ( 2 Kings 4:29, 9:1; and 1 Peter 1:13). This was done by tucking their robes into their girdles, or what we would call belts, Therefore, Paul was saying that truth is the belt that allows us to fight without being entangled in our garments. Those who do not surround themselves with truth will become entangled in their own webs of deceit and will fall.

Please remember that we can always stand on God's Word because it is the truth ( John 17:17) and never forget that Jesus will always be: the Way, the Truth, and the Life. ( John 14:6)

Gods people are of the light , we are not in the darkness wondering what is next to happen , like the coming of the Lord we see it coming , and read and understand the Bible like Matthew 24 and Luke 21 and Book of Daniel , revelation etc . It's no mystery to know the season , but the day and hour only the father knows . We are not even close to the Lords coming yet , but it could be this generation as well . A generation is 120 yrs , or less .

I'm sorry Rob, but this statement seems backwards. So if I spoke a word to you, you would say the word was there before I was?? God Almighty, the Father, is the Most High. Jesus Christ is the first beloved Son of God. They are a part of each other.

So now you're calling people who believe that Jesus Christ existed before He was born on earth a "cult"? Seriously, maybe just ease up and wait to ask Jesus Christ yourself? Come on brother.

A good question, many would struggle with it and find themselves in the chicken or the egg situation. The reality God was there always, so the question of 'first' wouldn't be right. God, Jesus the Son, and Holy spirit are all in one. They cannot be separated from each other. There are many verses in the bible say the same. Also, there are only 6 days of creation according to the bible. And no where is it mentioned that Jesus was created!!

God the Father, Jesus the Son and Holy spirit all are outside the realm of time and space. As such it is difficult for many to understand how can something be forever without being created but that is the truth.

They all were present even before the creation.

Other scripture as a fellow brother suggested, was John 1.1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Also in John 1.14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Matthew Henry explained vs 1 and to saying when the gospel 'rightly understood and received sets that heart against all sin and stops the practice of it, at the same time gives blessed relief to the wounded consciences of those who have sinned. I agree with this statement for all those who once saved never look back and live a life for the Lord. But people like me who knew the truth, lived it and then fell away, we don't get that blessed relief of consciences at least i don't. I know I am saved but the joy of life is gone, unless i am not understanding.

Commentaries tends to confuse or mislead . That's been my experience of over 45 years . When I read the bible everything in time becomes very clear ! Amen .

I needed this verse in Psalm 141:3, and am glad that i could find it here. I made a comment to a brother one time about him being the man, not realizing really what I had said; well it turned out not so good. The spirit of man did take over and I saw the works of the flesh, satan had taken advantage of those word and used my brother to put all the attention on him and not on Jesus. It broke the anointing. I felt like there was a band around my forehead , Now I know that I must be careful what and how I place my words.

Adam, thanks for sharing that. I agree that the King James Version is probably the most accurate English translation we have. It is my bible of choice and is the English version I recommend to people who ask me what bible they should purchase or study from. But like all English translations, it also is a translation.

I am in no way putting down the King James. Like I said, it is my bible of choice, and the one I study from. I do however change words in my King James Bible when I come across words that need to be changed in order to clarify the meaning of the text and present a more accurate representation of what the English is saying.

In case anyone needs clarification, the teams of translators for the KJV was very meticulous and spent 7 years translating it and discussing everything in the finest detail for maximum accuracy. When a translation is made it is never an exact 1 to 1 ratio in translating each individual words, because the meaning is different. To capture the meaning accurately additional words often need to be added to complete the meaning. This is normal for any translation and doesn't mean translators added opinions or anything unnecessary. It is absolutely necessary to add the necessary words to complete the meaning. For example:

Psalms 7:11 - The English words 'with the wicked' were needed to add context for who God was angry with which was more inherent in the Hebrew. So, if the English translation wasn't completed it would then read that God 'is angry every day' which isn't the actual meaning and would be incorrect. So, the translation was made accurate by the italics which complete the English.

You may already know this, but words that are in italics mean that they were not in the original text. They were added in by the translators. I don't believe there is any extra meaning to that verse.

They had problems back then with people believing in God the Father, but not in the deity of Jesus Christ. We have some of that today.

Jesus said in John 5:23 that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent Him.

In John Chapter 5, Jesus said that all authority has been conveyed to Him. He is to judge all people. And He is to be honored equal to the Father. Most religions believe in a god, or might even call him father. But they will not believe that Jesus Christ is equal.

Jesus said in John 10:30, about the sheepfold, He said I and my Father are one. You can't have one without the other!

No place in 1John 2 have I found a place where it speaks of talking with tongues. This chapter speaks of loving God and his commandments and not being ashamed of him but to keep his commandments. To love him is keeping his word. If ye love me keep my commandments. The Holy Ghost comes to the righteous. Speaking with tongues is interpreted and speaking strangely it is not it means to be able to understand another and to be able to learn a language of another. The Gospel is love. The simplest most loving answer is the correct one. The Lord will never leave you alone.

Dreams are a way that the Lord speaks to us. It can be personal revelation. To see it with your understanding is a better phrase that to see it with your own eyes to see it with your own eyes is to be transfigured as they were on the Mt. of transfiguration. God Bless you.

not one Pentecostal church I have ever been to have ever followed this in scripture.
tongues is the least important gift. no interpreter = keep silent.

1 Cor 12:28 - And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. (Tongues the last least gift.)
1 Co 12:29 - Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

I have been told that when you are saved you will speak in tongues. Until then you do not have the Holy Spirit.

The Brightness of the sun is the caring of Gods Heart for all His Creations. Everything on this earth was put here for our appeciation and worshipping of our Heavenly Father. But the Evilness takes the goodness of others and closes their eyes to not see what they can have.. Who will you choose to follow this day? Stop and think which will last for Eternity!!!
