¹⁶Lucius, Consul of the Romanes, vnto king Ptolomee greeting. ¹⁷The Iewes Embassadors our friends and confederates, came vnto vs to renew the old friendship and league, being sent from Simon the high Priest, and from the people of the Iewes. ¹⁸And they brought a shield of gold, of a thousand pound: ¹⁹We thought it good therefore, to write vnto the kings and countries, that they should doe them no harme, nor fight against them, their cities, or countries, nor yet aide their enemies against them. ²⁰It seemed also good to vs, to receiue the shield of them.
