Thank you Earl. Sometimes is seems like accidents or even true or perceived health events happen so we can go visit the doctors and nurses, cleaning staff, security and perhaps neighbors in the nearby rooms. We are hoping to care for him in our home ourselves as soon as possible (hopefully today). Something about the flesh of our flesh requires surrender too, to maintain peace and love in Jesus Christ. Agreeing with our adversaries can be a choice or in Christian terms a surrendered will, finally non-resistance and non-comformity. How does God's grace determine a surrendered will?

I appreciate our talk and your love and care to our family. This particular family member has a special light, he is not deep or studied at all but 100% steadfastly walking in faith with a song on his heart.

Hello, I appreciate what you wrote there and agree with all your points except the book of life. It's my opinion that we're not written in the book of life until we're first judged by God. I think God knows all and might even take notes in such a book.

I think many assume we're 'saved' instantly when we start following Christ. While the Bible says we can have assurance of salvation if we follow Him, but I'm not aware of any verse saying we're instantly saved and will skip judgment and are in a book of life, as if its a guest list for heaven.

I looked up the 4 verses you posted about 'book of life' and they don't say that all Christians have their names written in the book of life, it doesn't say who or when their names may be written in the book, and doesn't say this comes before judgment day. The Exodus reference suggests that Moses's name was written in a book by God. It doesn't call it the book of life. Moses was also a special person appointed by God. God also replied with this: And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. And the Bible says everyone has sinned.

1 Peter 1:5 - "...salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Doesn't say you have salvation now, doesn't say you have it instantly and aren't judged, it says revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:13 "...hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;"

This says grace isn't even given to us until the end at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:12 - indicates the book of life is used on the day of judgment to review what all have done. Either way all will be judged.

    2 Corinthians 5:10

    Romans 2:16

    John 12:48

    Hebrews 9:27

    Revelation 20:12

If you have more evidence that says the moment you say respond to an altar call you're instantly in the book of life, or that the moment you decide to follow Jesus you are written in the book of life, please let me know where... Thank you.

Brother Carleton, I BELIEVE you don't sue. God will restore you losses. If you are sued; agree with your adversary quickly, God will restore your losses. I BELIEVE God causes us to make the choices we make. Until we understand this; he often causes us to make wrong choices, teaching us WHO IS SOVEREIGN.

Hopefully your child is not to severely burned; God's grace was there before the doctors. This is one of the HARDEST trials we are made to endure; seeing our children suffer. God's grace rest on you and your family.

Cookie, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

John 2:21 But he (Jesus) spake of the temple of his body.

Jesus was telling the people that when they crucified him he would arise after three days in a NEW BODY, and that new body would be God's temple (where the Spirit of God LIVES)

Colossians 1:27 The kingdom of God is: CHRIST IN YOU; therefore the temple of God (CHRIST) is in you, making YOU the temple of God.

1 Corinthians 3:16 No ye not that YOU are the temple of God (CHRIST IN YOU)....(where the Spirit of God LIVES)

Hello Earl, Thank you for the quick reply and nice salutations. Likely many of us by now have thousands of hours in this flesh already with Christ dwelling in us by peace and love. The practice of some believing people of revenge like suing for example, how does this fit into your understanding in the fullness of Christ?

I like talking, but I do still have a growing family at home to attend even though I am not exactly young. One of which is in the hospital after being burned by hot water after fainting in the shower.

I live in No Ca where the Cascades and the Sierras meet straight across the valley from a nearby window is the Coastal range.

Paul, the writer of much of the new testament; saved and given instruction to help save others by Christ, lets us know that even he could lose his salvation if he doesn't continue to walk with the Lord. 1 Cor 9: 24-27. Please note vs 27.

Our names are already written in the "book of life" ( Exodus 32:32-33, Rev 13:8, Rev 20:15, Rev 21:17) and many, many, more. Just type in, King James Version for the Book of Life verses. So, we have salvation through Christ but we must accept it. Acts 2:41 for example, talks about a few thousand that got saved (accepted their salvation).

However, picking up your cross and FOLLOWING CHRIST will require training given us through the Holy Spirit and many people will not want to tolerate that training for heaven and like the seed without root, wither up and die ( Matt 13:6). Or leave the flock and wonder off into the world. Satan does everything he can to temp and lead others away from Christ. He seems to be very successful by filling our lives with materialism. It can be easier than we want to admit to desire what the world offers if we put Christ second.

Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God in all that you do and I'll see you in heaven.

    :)

    Hope this helps a little.

Brother Carleton, I don't know what anabaptist teach. I was raised with the doctrines taught by southern baptist. Through thousands of hours studying the scriptures and begging Christ to show me the meaning; I no longer adhere to the doctrine of hell, and that man has FREE WILL and goes to an abode called heaven.

The word of God CAN NOT contradict. Hundreds of verses says all creation will obey and worship God.

A literal hell makes these words a lie; but Spiritual FIRE and Spiritual JUDGEMENT don't CONTRADICT.

Isaiah 10:16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of host, send among his fat ones a leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a BURNING like the burning of a FIRE.

Isaiah 4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the SPIRIT OF JUDGEMENT, and by the SPIRIT OF BURNING.

May CHRIST CAUSE us walk in the WORDS of GOD.

Isaiah 63:17 O Lord why has THOU MADE US TO ERR from thy ways, and hardened our hearts from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribe of thine inheritance.

    Questions? Let's talk.

John 3:16 Jesus's sacrifice for us is a glimpse of hope when there is no hope around us.The sacrifice of God to me cannot be explained in words for the word is his and not mine. A god that turns to human body and feels the real pain of the heart, soul and flesh. Sometimes when our hearts cry in needed, he is always there to feel with us and comfort us to stand and be strong to confront the waves of temptation.

    Hi Norman,

I think all Christians struggle with the temptations of sin. Paul wrote about his struggle: Romans 7:19

In my opinion there's a difference in a Christian genuinely trying to follow Jesus and occasionally messing up and getting a little off track...

    VS.

A Christian who assumes he's saved, because grace, and now feel entitled to sin as much as he wants, because grace. He used to follow Jesus, but doesn't really think about it much anymore. He calls himself a 'good person' by his own standards. He enjoys the world, enjoys indulgences (sin) and rationalizes it as being OK. Then puts the world first pursuing fun, money, status, and following Jesus becomes a lower priority. He assumes he's going to heaven, because grace and his actions don't matter anymore and he's a 'good person'.

In my understanding, the Christian who knows he's a flawed sinner and desperately needs Jesus's grace and follows Jesus and tries to emulate Him and apply His teachings is on solid ground. The fact that someone cares and is thinking about it is a heathy sign: Luke 12:5. Sounds like you fit in this category. Remember Paul killed Christians and was forgiven, so no sin other than blasphemy is too great to be forgiven, if genuine repentance.

But the Christian who already assumes he's all good, and uses grace as a license to justify committing unlimited sin and following the world instead of Jesus, I believe is in danger.

Jesus warned His followers (Christians) over and over about heaven and hell through His parables, etc. That few people will go to heaven and most will go to hell.

    Matthew 7:21

Hebrews 10:26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"

James 2:14-26 "...faith, if it hath not works, is dead..."

James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

    1 Peter 1:13

    Romans 11

    John 14:15

    Matthew 12:31-32

    Romans 14:12

    1 Peter 1:5

Yes, here's a page which shows many verses throughout about hell. I suspect there's even more, because most all of Jesus's parables were about heaven and hell. Salvation is a kind of a big deal in the Bible, which Jesus paid our penalty so we have an opportunity to avoid hell.

    Hello,

If you believe the Bible where it says the "three are one" then, the answer is yes.

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

    Here's other supporting scripture too:

    Genesis 1:26

    John 11:6-7

    John 10:30

    John 8:19

    John 1:1

    Philippians 2:5 - 2:8

    2 Corinthians 5:19

    John 1:3

    1 John 5:7

    Matthew 28:19

    1 Peter 1:2

    2 Corinthians 13:14

    Deuteronomy 6:4

    John 14:10

    John 20:28

    1 John 5:8

    1 John 2:22-24

    Link

Beware of creative people who will try to either disregard or 'reinterpret' all the above scripture in attempt to get it to mean something else. In searching our conscience, deep down we already know what "the father and I are one" and the "three are one" means. We should all ask God directly for wisdom in understanding the scriptures and to reveal and confirm His truths to us, so we aren't deceived or mislead by false teachers. James 1:5. 1 Timothy 4:1-2.

Brother Kevin, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and His understanding.

We were predestined to become SONS OF GOD and all that that implies.

Christ was the FIRSTBORN (Son of God) of creation; Christ is now CALLING OUT the ones in the age we are presently in; to be a PREISTHOOD (Sons of God; recreated into HIS exact likeness). These are the children of the first resurrection. These are the ones that will judge the world with Christ and bring righteousness to the earth. This is one of those HARD THINGS to UNDERSTAND. At the death of your body you will be GIVEN a glorified body (you will be GIVEN the FULLNESS of Christ). You will become a consuming FIRE like Christ. You will be OMNIPRESENT; able to judge in the form of SPIRIT, just like Christ; or stand in visible form, just like Christ. Man can't comprehend this so they teach traditions of man; you go to heaven and set in you easy chair eating chocolates. This is what all the saints that have gone before us are doing RIGHT NOW. They are MINISTERING SPIRITS in glorified bodies ministering to the ones (us) that are going to be HEIRS of salvation. ( Hebrews 1:14)

Revelation 20:4 The thousand year reign is not literally one thousand years; but symbolic of the ONE DAY (day of the Lord). This one day (a day called today) has been going on for 2000 years and will continue until all of Christ's PRIESTS have been put in place.

Obadiah 1:21 And SAVIOURS (Sons of God) shall come up on mount Zion and JUDGE the mount of Esau; and the kingdom (CHRIST IN YOU) shall be the LORD'S.

I wonder whether there are other believers out there that have insight into the "next phase" of our existence in the Lord. We seem to be preoccupied with the travails of this world and are given a small glimpse of the coming end of it, but no one has attempted to describe what it will really mean to live for eternity with God. Think about it. No more pain, no more suffering, you will know even as you are known, no more war or conflict.

Its like saying that there is a Yin, but no Yang in the universe.

This is not how humans are wired. This is not consistent with the idea that where there is good, there is also evil... concepts we have held true since our own humble beginnings.

I submit to my Christian brethren that some fundamental change is going to occur when we enter into eternity with our Lord...that goes beyond the natural instincts for survival, for reproduction, for self awareness, etc.

If there is a scripture out there that I have missed or overlooked, I would appreciate being pointed toward it.

Thank you all and God bless you.

I looked and looked for a hiding place in the world, but found none, sadness and separation. I sought Him where he could not be found. With my mouth I praised Him, but my heart was far from Him, not yet willing to give up the world.

I felt a dart of joy just now as I read, "Thou art my hiding place." I let the world fall away. I had a dream for years, which I believed was placed in me by God, but I attached to the worldly aspect of it, and it came to nothing. The world is dead. My heart remained in shreds, before my Lord. My hope is in Him. He shall bring all to pass, and for my Father's glory. My increasing desire is that my Father be glorified. It is such a wonderful, terrible, majestic path, the way of faith, as we are stripped of our errors and clothed again in GRACE. Thank you for these scriptures, Richard, I feel renewed hope. At the bottom of the well of emptiness is His face, what unspeakable happiness! Blessings!

Fox News Headline 6-10-21: Putin gushes with FLATTERY towards Trump

"Putin calls Trump an 'extraordinary talented individual, otherwise he would not have become U.S. President". Putin told NBC News in his first interview with a U.S. news network since 2018. "He is a colorful individual".

( Daniel 11:21) And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by FLATTERIES.

Putin is poised to put a flame on your face.

    ( Isaiah 13:7-8)

7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their FACES shall be as FLAMES.

This is NOT a symbolic scripture, this will become as real as any war gets.

TO: Norman Walker, that is what God expects us to do! Keep his commandments. It is hard to live perfect in an imperfect world, and though there is never an excuse for sin, we as flesh fall short and we know we need to make it right; that's when our advocate Jesus Christ steps in and he states I condemn thee not, go and sin no more! You don't know me, but I want you to know that I am writing your name down so we can pray for you. Keep the Faith and endure.

    Differences between Koran and Bible:

    Adam,

Thank you for taking the time to detail the 2 religions. If in my lifetime, I will be glad when the end is reached, when all armies are extracted for the earth. From talking to different people, from different religions, they all have one thing in common: they all profess to be right!!! Everybody's a spokesman for God, so God help us when the levy breaks. The more I hear about religion, the more I'd like to free myself from its chains, into a simpler set of codes.

The world will soon have antichrist to clean up the shallowness of the Christians, and fill their exceptional cup of wrath to the double. It's going to be the greatest shown on earth when burning pomp meets subdued arrogance. Let's see who's left to throw insults around after the haughty are pummeled into the ground. I fully expect mankind to eat itself.

    Today's Headlines Read:

"US-Russia relations are so poor that only a summit can sort them out, Putin's spokesman says" & "Vladimir Putin Calls Accusations of Ordering Assassinations 'Verbal Indigestion"

The US behaves painfully arrogant towards their contemporaries, continually pointing the finger, itching for conflict. Who won't America invade? Who's government will the US threaten to topple next? Word for word they remind me of that city in Revelation 17 that suddenly gets attacked, and gives up the ghost. It is increasingly apparent that the US behaves more and more like this Babylon with each passing day. Who else is there besides America?

Next week, US President Biden's high stakes meeting with Russian President Putin carries all the hallmarks of Daniel 11:27. We see that one of these kings paths is clearly marked by cataclysmic destruction.

27 And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

If we are in fact living in "the end-days", then the people of America should prepare themselves for the flame. 539 BC is coming, and won't be put off.

Hi Carolyn. Romans 14:16 shouldn't be forced to mean what you've suggested, about a married man being seen in public with other women. We can't pull out a Scripture & try to make it read something that it wasn't intended to do.

This chapter is speaking of some of those delicate & difficult questions that arose at that time, in respect to the behaviour between Jew & Gentile believers. And these questions centred around food and observance of particular days, rites, etc. The Jewish converts expected that the Gentiles would also bind themselves to Jewish customs & adherence to Mosaic Laws. The matter of circumcision came up in Acts 15:1,2 and Galatians 2:3,4. Here in Romans chapter 14, matters pertaining to food offered to idols, Jewish fasting days, clean & unclean animals, and subsequently, judging another because of their belief & therefore resulting in not walking in love & understanding with each other.

So verse 16: "Let not then your good be evil spoken of", tells us that as Christians, we should be aware that even though we might enjoy our liberty in Christ to do many things that might appear wrong in the sight of others (e.g. Jews, or those weak in faith or unlearned in the Scriptures), we should abstain from doing so, if it means that strife & controversy arise leading to unkind words exchanged & separation from each other.

However, I do agree with you that a married man should be careful in how close he gets to other women: the time he spends with her or the places they meet for discussion, since that meeting, though maybe perfectly harmless & genuine, may easily be misconstrued by another. In that instance, I would use 1 Thessalonians 5:22: "Abstain from all appearance of evil." And if you need to share this with a man (a husband?), the Scripture can be used as part of a 'loving' discussion to the pitfalls in such an association, as well as a misunderstanding or gossip by others.
  • Chris - In Reply on 1 Corinthians 9 - 4 years ago
Hello Victor. In that use of the word 'glorying', I see that the Apostle Paul speaking of 'his boasting'. Now I realize that 'boasting' is generally used in the negative, self-promoting sense. But if we read this chapter, we see that Paul is having to prove his apostleship just as he did to a greater length in 2 Corinthians chapters 10 & 11, when others were entering the Corinthian Church & misleading them with false teaching & by use of eloquent speech.

So, in 1 Corinthians chapter 9, Paul goes about having to prove his apostleship & his love for the believers there. Unlike others, he & Barnabas did not demand gifts from the believers (they worked with their own hands): vv6-14. Paul abstained from marriage so that he would be free to devote himself to the Gospel, singular in purpose (v5), and made no demand to believers to provide 'food & drink' (v4). This all might have sounded as a "look at poor me denying myself", but Paul wanted to show them his love for them & for the Gospel, and that if had anything to boast about ("glory in" v15), his boasting wouldn't be about himself but in putting all aside for the "necessity laid upon him to preach the Gospel" & not having to be a burden on the believers during his ministry. Some could still see that as boasting - but Paul was showing them his love as an apostle & their father in the faith and if they could see through the falsity & showmanship of others, they should see a true apostle of Christ with a heart for the Truth & the Gospel.
