    When we do not place God first in our lives, when we do not allow his spirit to rule our thoughts, when we do not apply his word to every choice we make, what are we truly seeking? Seek first the kingdom of God and all this will be added to you. It amazes me how far the world has fallen away, just look around, pride everywhere, entertainment has taken over every aspect of our lives, our idol is the life we live in this flesh. God says love this life and you will lose life, well then the vast majority alive today are dead, and do not even know it. It like a spiders web consisting of every facet of life, all based on the all mighty dollar, the holly wood industry calls it being creative, aka talented, same with the music industry, sports too with their hall of fame, all being paid astronomical amounts of money, and we call them STARS. No one considers themselves lost because they are rich, but just how rich are they? What do you think Jesus thinks about everything I have mentioned? The world is spinning out of control, people really have no concept of what a treasure is, being rich is, FOR WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN (OR WOMAN) IF HE(OR SHE) GAINS THE WHOLE WORLD BUT LOSES HIS SOUL?
  • David on Exodus 12 - 13 years ago
    Exodus 12:2 mentions "This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you." What month in our calendar does this refer to? Also this chapter states "And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening." Since the scripture clearly states that the Passover shall start on the 14th day of the month why does the date change every year?
  • Annette Okereke on 2 Kings 4 - 13 years ago
    Whose report shall we believe? The report of the Lord. We should run to our source of hope, the only one who can really help,.. God. His ears are open to our cries... This man of God knows his God, he was strong and did exploits. I pray that God will raise people for this generation that will continue in this path.. "these signs shall follow them that believe in my name, they will lay hands on the sick and the sick will recover......”

    Can someone explain this verse to me? What is God's intention for this verse? My mom takes this verse and runs with it. Every time I meet a guy she wants to know who approached who.
  • Goddey on Luke 6 - 13 years ago
    This is a beautiful chapter and it is loaded with great lessons. It shows that God loves everyone so much and would always love to see him/her in good health and enjoying life. Hunger was quenched via non conventional and traditional way on Sabbath day, a sick person supernaturally healed on Sabbath day? Can you imagine how much God wants all men to be fed and be in good health? We should follow the example of caring for the needy. Many times we quote Luke 6.38 without recognizing that the conditions for having baskets full and running over is attached to how we treat other people and not just the giving of offering in Church. Give to everyone that asks, love your enemies, be committed to doing good, making use of spiritual gifts etc. I think we should renew our commitment to the full teachings of the word of God in order to reap the full benefits of the promises. Amen
  • Lyn on Psalms 118 - 13 years ago
    I love this scripture so much. Right after we had our son, they terminated my husband’s job. How does one rejoice in such a situation? It takes only the hand of God. Thanks to psalm118, we rejoice everyday by giving thanks to the almighty father above.
  • Biodun Williams on Deuteronomy 28 - 13 years ago
    God’s blessings, are constantly available for those that love and honour Him. As a matter of fact it is not a denominational thing, but truly what He has, in His Kingdom. And that indicates that, whosoever has genuinely and truly given his life to the LORD, is already, in the family of God. Hence, through the agency of the Holy Spirit he can partake of the best that God has made available. This book of Deuteronomy is one of those areas, in the Holy Writ where it reveals the kind of blessings that God has promised for he that loveth and believeth Him through Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The beginning of it, in verse 1, talks about, what God, will do for such that is fully committed to Him through hearkening, listening and constant obedience to His commandments. And then it says, in verse 2, that all these blessings shall come and overtake you if you shall hearken to the voice of thy God. What does that connote? It connotes that God, in His eternal faithfulness demands committed obedience from all His children- and when you come to think about it, that shouldn’t be a thing of difficulty- and that is when we consider who God is and the fact that He is love. Well, there, in that commencement of scriptures and some other part of that chapter, are a great promises that talk about over flowing blessings. It refers to blessings that would spring forth, and come in such a way that it would totally and completely take care of whatever needs that you and I are confronted with. The truth is, God has declared His Word, and yet it is only beneficial to the hearer and doers of His dictates. The conditions, terms and provisos attached to this, through this Deuteronomy 28, are to diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD and observe to do according to all His commandments.. Please, look at that word “voice”. It means ‘His Voice’-and that is ‘God’s Voice’ and not that of a man, even though primarily He’ll speak through the agency of His Word and through the Holy Spirit. He also speaks through His servants and that aspect of the preached word is considered as secondary. The fact is, if we are diligent and fully committed enough to honour the conditions of His dictates, then overflowing blessing become guaranteed. God has agreed, covenanted and promised to meet, all the needs of those that love Him- and that is, He desires to shower on you and I, His blessings, and that is to the degree or the level of commitment and trust that we put on His Word. Therefore, it is wise and appropriate, to reflect upon, listen to, peruse, research, dwell upon and practice His Word. It is only for they that crave for, thirst after, love and believes His lovingkindness. And that is, hidden in His righteousness.
  • Stevie on Daniel 3 - 13 years ago
    In verse 15, the king said "who is that God who is able to deliver you (3 Hebrews) from my hand?" Then in verse 26 after the king saw that the boys were not burnt, he went to the mouth of the furnace and called out saying "you servants of the most High God". From this account we see that after this the king was no longer pagan. Faith comes by hearing and by hearing the word of God, the Hebrew boys preached God's word to the king and the king saw God's miracles in the lives the Hebrew boys, therefore, the king later believed in the true God. Let us emulate the Hebrew boys and make a positive impact wherever we are and win lost souls.
  • Sherice on Matthew 1 - 13 years ago
    Do you know God died for our sins? No matter how many times. We mess up or make bad choices for ourselves. The is Key in our choices; not God’s choices for us.
  • Emmanuels on Matthew 18:20 - 13 years ago

  • Shylet on Matthew 13 - 13 years ago
    I believe the Word of God and Matthew 13 helps us as Christians to be aware of the devil's devices. What kind of heart do you have, a pathway, thorny, stony or a good ground? Let’s pray and watch. Thank you Lord Jesus for this wonderful Word. Eternal is your Word, Lord Jesus.
  • Olayinka oye on Genesis 25 - 13 years ago
    Genesis 25:32: And Esau said, Behold I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright to me? Thus Esau despised his birthright. He mortgaged his future because of his immediate want of food. He allowed his decision to be influenced by the immediate benefit. We need to learn from Esau, we should not allow the temporary gain made us forfeit the future blessings of God in our lives which are beyond imaginations.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 119:59 - 13 years ago
    King David said I thought on my ways, and turned my feet toward thy statutes. Jehovah God wants us to consider our ways, and make sure they are in step with His commandments. If we go astray, we must be quick to repent, and turn our feet to the statutes of God. The scripture teaches that if God kept a record of sin, who would be able to stand? Yet there is forgiveness with God. So create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit in me. By doing this we keep our feet on the straight and narrow pathway that we must walk.
  • Thomas on John 1:6 - 13 years ago
    God still sends men today. No man can carry the word except. He is sent by God. Just as John was sent by God to bear witness of the light which is Jesus Christ, we also are sent to represent him. The question is how can we unless we are truly sent by God?
  • Really People?!? on Leviticus 18:22 - 13 years ago
    Wow, just wow. Perhaps one should read the ENTIRE bible before leaving comments on one verse of it. I'm not judging, I'm just saying... Did any one of you realize that this whole chapter is written specifically to the Israelites? And that at the time their population was scarce, and their people were at war? Did you read the rest of the things this chapter and the next one forbids, like rounding the corners of a haircut, or trimming your beard? And Finally to Jessica, I hope that you and your family will still love and support your brother. The Bible's main gist (especially the New Testament) is all about love and acceptance, with the rest being sorted out at the end by the only one true authority. As an afterthought... I'm not sure if your brother truly "wants to be gay". If you yourself are "straight," do you think you could "want" to be gay and that it would work? He probably has felt different his whole life, like something was always wrong with him. He may not have even understood it at first, and then when he figured it out, he was probably just as confused and afraid as you and your family feel right now... he's just had more time to deal with it. Can you imagine the courage it must have taken for him to tell you and your family about it, knowing that it was thought to be wrong? I truly wish you and your family the best, and hope that this issue does not alienate anyone in your family; which has regretfully happened in so many others.

    Did you know that JESUS is the Lord God who brought the Israelites from Egypt the house of bondage and gave them the ten commandments on Mount Sinai? The one who appeared in a burning bush to Moses?
  • Jay on Luke 16 - 13 years ago
    @Brother,
    On verse 18,
    1. I agree with what Timothy had to say in response to Brother on his marriage situation, but there is more Timothy should be doing beside praying;
    2. It is difficult giving relationship advice without being able to sit down and talk with both parties involved;
    3. God always has solutions to every situation, but they are usually not so simple because of our sinful nature and after we have made decisions without proper biblical counseling with God and the man of God with the holy scriptures at the foundation of our decisions;
    4. Are you and your wife both saved?
    5. Do you both attend and participate in a good bible believing church?
    6. Are you doing those things that God commands us to do that put us in a right relationship and good standing with him?
    7. Although our mates have a large influence on our lives and how we are able to serve God, but our mates should not have that much influence on us that it holds us back from our spiritual growth and fellowship with God ( 1 Corinthians 7 and Ephesians 5:21-33);
    8. We as Christians should never allow anyone to have such a strong hold on us to keep us from doing right and being diligent in seeking him. ( 1 Corinthians 7:29 and Hebrews 11:6);
    9. The better our relationship, fellowship, and obedience to God's holy word the better position we place ourselves in having God answering our prayers and working in our favor;
    10. We have a much better opportunity in winning others to our side (God’s side) when we love God verbally, but also when we especially love God with our actions;
    11. People always tend to watch our actions over our speech ( James 1:22-25);
    12. I do not know what kind of a relationship Peter had with his wife, but it apparently did not stop him from doing what God wanted him to do!
  • Gift on 1 John 1 - 13 years ago
    1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Truly, brethren what does it really mean to 'confess our sins? What does confession mean in this context? It is important to make this plain and known to everyone because it is fundamental to salvation. I thought of ROMANS 10:9, and my understanding is that confession here is speaking out that which you have come to believe or be convinced of. Sometimes people answer alter calls and repeat after a preachers, give their names to church councilors and then follow up begins, which sometimes prove to be futile exercise, because confession was not done right. I will appreciate your comments, please.
  • George on John 17 - 13 years ago
    Greetings from God our Father and from our Lord Jesus the Christ of God. There are several things that our Lord Jesus wanted us to believe:
    1. to believe that God did send him,
    2. that He wanted us to be one with each other like He is One with God. Wait a minute, how can I invade my brothers body to be one, could it be that Jesus meant to be in (one accord) meaning no disagreements, to flow as if we are on? I believe that is exactly what He means. He came to do the perfect will of The Father and not His will. He always glorified God and not Himself, He wants all glory for His and our Father in this way He is glorified. Every word that Jesus said was the message that God wanted Him to deliver onto us. His plea was for us to believe that "He did send Me". It was the intent of God to put His Christ through the torment and punishment of the Cross for the sins of all man. Just think of the Love that our Father has for us that He would give His only Son to suffer and die for us. Father Abraham displayed a love that God loved in that Abraham proved obedience and love that God had not seen in other humans. That is what Jesus tells us that we should love God with everything about us above everything else, that is pleasing to Him. There is so much to write about but I will ask you, in that day when Jesus returns many will say "Lord we casted out devils and cured the sick in your name" and He answers and says to them" Get away from me, I never knew you! How is that possible if they did things in His name? Seek for the answer from a truly good friend, mine is Jesus the Anointed One of God. Have a beautiful life in Him.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Proverbs 21:19 - 13 years ago
    It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with an angry, and contentious woman. The question is what makes a woman angry, and contentious? Solomon knew a lot about women, because he had many wives. Jesus commanded husbands to love their wives, as their own bodies. No one will harm his own body, but instead will care for it, as well as provide what it needs. A woman responds positively to love, and will not be contentious or angry with her husband when she can see that he loves her sincerely. So love your wife as Christ loves the Church, and gave His body for it.
  • Mas on Psalms 125 - 13 years ago
    @Lufs,
    Verse 5 means those that follow wicked ways because of life difficulties and pressures shall face the consequences of evildoers. No matter what the sufferings, God shall not allow the ‘’rod of the wicked rest upon the lot of the righteous, lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity”.
    God shall keep things within the limits of the bearable, and shall show us the way out, 1 Corinthians 10:13. That is God’s seal.
    Now, if we will faint and give up, we alone shall be responsible for the bad replications and consequences of leaving God’s way.
    The key is: Do we remember the word in trials and temptations, do we keep the word in sufferings, pains, affliction, and oppression? Do we call enough to the point that we can wake even the sleeping one up? Because most people will surrender and quit very quickly.
    Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;), Hebrews 10:23.
    God bless you.
  • Jon on 1 Timothy 2:12 - 13 years ago
    Paul was called to go to the Gentiles. The disciples were told not to go. 1Timothy 2:12 states that "I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over man…”. But 2 Kings 22:12-14, was not Huldah a prophetess, a woman? Who was told to go tell of the risen Christ to the disciples? A woman. Who carried The Word and gave birth to The Word? A woman. I am a woman and I love teaching The Word. Be bless.

    Can anyone help explain Psalms 125:5 to me?
  • James Jabez Amamoo on Genesis 22 - 13 years ago
    In simplicity God demands the most treasured thing we have. To Abraham it was his son. His attention and everything centered on him. The fascinating thing was that he was prepared to let it go and cling to God rather than clinging to Isaac and let God go. God does not demand our excesses, he demands our last. In the temple, during offering Jesus said the widow who gave two pence gave more than all. The widow that fed Elijah gave her all to die. Are we Christians of this age prepared to let go of what we treasure most and cling to him?

    Trinitarians, How do you explain verse 18 where it reads : nobody has seen God at any time? Who was the guy that was tortured to death, and why were there are 3 crosses if nobody could see the guy in the middle. Remember, don’t try to change the words "at any time".
  • Biodun Williams on Malachi 3 - 13 years ago
    The gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, for therein the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written the just shall live by faith. When it refers to the just, that talks about those that have, genuinely and truly given their lives to Jesus Christ, so that He can become, their LORD and Saviour, Romans 1:16, 17. Interestingly, Paul the apostle was not ashamed of it, and hence, we should not be ashamed of it either. And therefore, with reference to the issue of payment of tithe and giving of offering, these are doctrines that the New Testament dispensation approves- and because it is in the Old Testament does not mean it should be discarded. The Word says: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes Him should not perish, but have eternal life, John 3:16. It also says: As many as received Him, He has then given the power to become sons of God, even those who believe in His name, John 1:12. When you believe the Word of God and diligently act upon it, the power of the Holy Spirit will comes upon you. Have you not heard it when it says: Seek ye First the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto you? Matthew 6:33. God is the covenant keeping God, hence when God’s Word is received , believed and acted upon, based on the law of love, God has no option but to honour His part of the covenant. That means, when God’s dictates are put in place, all argument ceases and that is because of God’s integrity, and the infallibility of the Holy Writ.

  • Susan Dalton on Luke 6:39 - 13 years ago
    Luke 6:39. And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch? As Jesus spoke to these people at that time He was aware of the society in which the people lived and how people related to one another. In our society and in our relationships with people the same conditions can be seen. Some people may feel that some get a gain off of someone else; the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Or, if that's what it takes to make it, that's what a person has to do in this society. Jesus said not so. If the one person is blind, and the righteous blind their eye also, then both are blind and both will fall into the ditch. Keeping one's eye from becoming blind may be the only light the blind see - and it keeps the seeing from falling into the ditch also.
