Jesus said we should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the holy spirit. ( Matt. 28:19, 20) What does this mean? Fatherhood refers to parenthood, and being baptized in the name of the Father shows that one recognizes the superiority and sovereignty of our heavenly Father, whose name alone is Jehovah. ( Ps. 83:18) We must sanctify his name, respect his sovereignty, love his kingdom and serve its interests. ( Luke 11:2) Next, being baptized in the name of the Son shows one’s appreciation for the high authority and position conferred upon the Son by the Father. There must be love and appreciation for the Son because he is the Ransomer. Without his sacrifice we could not gain life. How great a debt we owe him! ( Isa. 55:4; John 4:42) Finally, being baptized in the name of the holy spirit means to recognize such spirit as the active force of Jehovah. It is that same force that unerringly guided the men of old to write the Bible, impelled the early Christians to withstand persecution successfully and that today guides Jehovah’s theocratic organization on earth.—2 Pet. 1:21; John 6:63; 1 John 5:6.
One’s baptism is a public demonstration of death to a past course of life. If the candidate remained submerged in water, truly it would mean his death. Fittingly, one is raised to life as it were, alive to do the will of Jehovah. Thus one’s day of baptism could be said to be the day of one’s start in a new life. Baptism serves both as a public confession of one’s dedication and as a sign of one’s being an ordained minister. Doubly blessed by Jehovah is this individual. The date of one’s baptism should be recorded and remembered always. As far as Jehovah’s visible organization is concerned it is the date of your ordination to the ministry of the Most High.
I have reduced my post, and I have not offended anyone here. So whats the problem
thanks Takirid
What does chapter 2 verse 6 say to you?
"His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me".
And chapter 1 verse 4?
"Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers"
And to the comment below, I do not believe we have to ask God for mercy in order to understand the bible. In Romans Paul explains how the Holy Ghost as well as Jesus Christ intercedes for us.
"And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." Romans 8:23
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Romans 8:26
"It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." Romans 8:34
Life is not about how holy we are or who understands the bible the most. We were made to be loved by God and love Him back.
And the figure that is described is the angel, not Jesus. Can anyone explain this to me?
According to this particular verse:
"But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace."
( 1st Cor. 7:15)
Sister, according to this specific verse, which the Apostle Paul speaks by permission... not of commandment, he is stating that if a spouse, who is an un-believer, willfully leaves a believing spouse, then the believing spouse is no longer bound to the sacred vows of that marriage.
Following up on that verse, Brother Paul also states, "Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife." ( 1 Cor. 7:27)
Simply explained, Father God, would that no marriage would end in divorce; because it is really the slow death of the family unit.
But many of us fail to obey the divine will of Father God; and wind up taking the path of His permissive will.
Even in a marriage based on truly godly, righteous principles can end in divorce; if a man and a woman are not of the same mind, heart and spirit.
In choosing a mate, we must seek Father God with all of our heart, mind and soul; in order for Him to lead us to the right mate.
Next to salvation... marriage is, by far, the most important decision that a person will make in their lifetime.
We must love our neighbor as our selves. Love was not practiced in this passage nor forgiveness, and the consequence was more sin was committed. If we will stop the violence, then we must do as God has commanded. He who loves much has been forgiven of much, and he who loves little has been forgiven of little. Love is the fulfillment of the law.
The word forget means to mislay. I live near a state highway and our mailboxes are alongside the road. When I go to get our mail, I look down the highway to see what traffic is coming. Sometimes tractor trailers can be coming side by side down the highway. When I see this I do not go up to the mailboxes, instead, I wait until the trucks have passed; the mailboxes have been replaced at least twice due to someone plowing through them.
The other day I was walking up to the mailboxes. I was - just walking up to get the mail. I was not at the highway yet, but I heard a transfer truck. The noise perked up my ears which inturn perked up my mind: wake up, be alert, you are close to the road.
We can forget and mislay the law. It's not that the law of safety was not in my mind before I heard the truck, but, at that time it was not on the front of my mind. I know I would have had safety on the front of my mind before I got to the mailboxes even if I had not heard the truck, but it was a reminder that the law can be mislayed. (not on the front of the mind) Many times we may not want the burden of carrying the law on the front of our minds, but it is a reponsiblity that we cannot mislay, especially, if safety of lives depends upon us keeping that law. If we mislay the law, in this case safety, we may find ourselves guilty of negligence. In the case of man's law, if the law is mislayed while driving, we would find ourselves guilty of reckless driving; or vehicular manslaughter, or other forms of manslaughter if someone was killed while the law was mislayed.
If someone is intoxicated with drink, they forget the law. A drunk driver most likely has the law of not drinking and driving in their mind, but at the time of an accident because they are drunken they are not keeping that law. They actually mislayed that law when they made the decision to drink, and then to drink and drive.
Sometimes mislaying the law may not be so obvious; its more like falling asleep at the wheel. In whatever case, the mind has departed from that which it should be keeping.
When we forget the law something has taken its place. Accidents can be the result of the law which is in our mind being mislayed.
Spiritually speaking, Jesus admonishes us to be sober and alert. It is not enough for us to know the Word of God, we must be keeping the Word of God.
We are exhorted to gird up the loins of our minds; to have the mind of Christ.
If we mislay the law, referring now to the Word of God, we may find ourselves guilty of drinking and driving with deadly consequences. The mislaying of God's Word results in sin which ends in death.
Why do mother's tell their children the law over and over again? Are they not trying to engrave the law into their minds? Are they not seeking to keep the law on the forefront of their childrens' minds? Yet each child must grow up and keep the wisdom themselves.
Everyday should be Mother's Day in respect to do not despise thy mother; or,in other words, do not despise the law of thy mother for it is your life.
Lest we forget, remember: honor thy mother...that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Or is it as it always is when a religious person is wrong, a metphor and not real?
Furthermore, the Persians had liberated Jews and Persian 'taxpayers' were called upon to offer up their treasure to sustain Jews as they rebuilt Jerusalem. Where was Mordecai and Esther's gratitude for this major and ongoing generosity?
That gives rise to another question: Why were Esther and Mordecai in Persia and not in Jerusalem? Aren't we told that the entire quest of Jewish people is for the "land of zion," to return to Jerusalem? Why was Esther in Persia?
Finally, you'll notice that god is not mentioned in the entire book of Esther. The book is not a spiritual tract, it is political.
Inasmuch as Benj. Netanyahu closed an important speech with emphasis on Esther, and that Jewish people who celebrate no other element of Jewish religion or culture nevertheless celebrate Purim, the feast of the slaughter of 75,000 Persians, it becomes important for Christians everywhere to completely rethink the intentions of Jewish people in other lands.
6 How can we state so positively that the great crowd is this modern-day group of dedicated Christians who hope to live forever on God’s earth? Previously, John had seen in vision the heavenly group “bought . . . for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” ( Revelation 5:9, 10) The great crowd have a similar origin but a different destiny. Unlike the Israel of God, their number is not predetermined. No man can tell in advance how many there will be. Their robes are washed white in the blood of the Lamb, symbolizing that they have a righteous standing before Jehovah by virtue of their faith in Jesus’ sacrifice. ( Revelation 7:14) And they are waving palm branches, hailing Messiah as their King.
10 Jesus said to those in line for this sealing: “Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom.” ( Luke 12:32) Other scriptures, such as Revelation 6:11 and Romans 11:25, indicate that the number of this little flock is indeed limited and, in fact, predetermined. John’s next words confirm this: “And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel: Out of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand sealed; out of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand sealed.”— Revelation 7:4-8.
11 Could this not be a reference to literal, fleshly Israel? No, for Revelation 7:4-8 diverges from the usual tribal listing. ( Numbers 1:17, 47) Obviously, the listing here is not for the purpose of identifying fleshly Jews by their tribes but to show a similar organizational structure for spiritual Israel. This is balanced. There are to be exactly 144,000 members of this new nation—12,000 from each of 12 tribes. No tribe in this Israel of God is exclusively royal or priestly. The whole nation is to rule as kings, and the whole nation is to serve as priests.— Galatians 6:16; Revelation 20:4, 6.
12 Although the natural Jews and Jewish proselytes were given the first opportunity to be chosen for spiritual Israel, only a minority of that nation responded. Jehovah therefore extended the invitation to the Gentiles. ( John 1:10-13; Acts 2:4, 7-11; Romans 11:7) As in the case of the Ephesians, who previously had been “alienated from the state of Israel,” now non-Jews could be sealed with God’s spirit and become part of the congregation of anointed Christians. ( Ephesians 2:11-13; 3:5, 6; Acts 15:14) It is appropriate, then, for the 24 elders to sing before the Lamb: “With your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”— Revelation 5:9, 10.
13 The Christian congregation is “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.” (1 Peter 2:9) Replacing natural Israel as God’s nation, it becomes a new Israel that is “really ‘Israel.’” ( Romans 9:6-8; Matthew 21:43) For this reason, it was quite proper for Jesus’ half brother James to address his pastoral letter “to the twelve tribes that are scattered about,” that is, to the worldwide congregation of anointed Christians that in time would number 144,000.— James 1:1.
1 Corinthians 3:18 If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Here is a little more Scripture for you .
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
John 1:1 Tells us that "The Word was god" in John 1:14 it says "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us ! " then it talks about how we beheld his "glory" .. let me add this .. In Isaiah (which is the Old Testament) 42:8 , It says " i am the Lord: that is my name: and my 'glory' will i not give to another ~ and in 1 Corinthians 2:8 is says " which none of the princes of this world knew: for had that known it, they would not have crucified the 'Lord of glory'. They would not have crucified Jesus if they knew that he was god wrapped in flesh! Let me add 1 Timothy 3:16 .. "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, soon of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into *glory* " !!
Exodus 3:14 - And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
John 8:24 - I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that *I AM HE*, ye shall die in your sins.
* Act 2:38* Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of *Jesus Christ* for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
"prepare thee baggage for removing and move by day in their sight; and thou shalt move from thy place to another place in their sight; it may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house".
