Just wondering about what are the things that I can entertain myself with, obviously I know the Bible talks about not bringing evil things onto my eyes. And Jesus said if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out, for it is better for you to enter heaven without an eye then to be cast into the lake of fire with your whole body. So just wondering are things like movies and YouTube bad things to entertain myself with on a daily, I don't have any friends, and it's the Summer so I don't see any people my age on a daily bases. I understand that movies and YouTube can easily bring evil things into my head, I'm not bored of living and things like that. But what do I do for entertainment? I also have stopped playing video games, which is a real blessing for me and thank god for that. I have preyed for gods grace to come into my life and prevent me from watching movies and YouTube just today. Anyway just wondering and asking is YouTube and movies bad for me to entertain myself with on a daily basis, and what should I entertain myself with?

    My favorite movies to watch free on YouTube are;

    1.One night with the king

    2. The Gospel of John

    3. Luke (posted by The Two Preachers

I own some great Bible movies on dvd as well.

    1. The Ten Commandments

    2. The story of Ruth

    3. Solomon

    Plus

    The Blind Side

    Courageous

    God's Not Dead #1,2,&3.

    The War Room

Flywheel, a movie I found years ago free on YouTube, was so anointed, even though I'm assuming it was very low budget etc. I highly recommend all these movies.

I am on the web learning about how to be healthier. Hopefully the newest trend globally will be " food as medicine." I found an awesome mentor named Dr. William Li. And Dr. Eric Berg is helpful too. Incidentally, I lost 30 pounds by changing what I was eating (because I wasn't feeling good). I asked prayer for my health and only 2 months later I'm much healthier! Praise God! And I'M LEARNING how to use food to heal illness. I'm learning that God gave us everything we need to take great care of our " temples" and none of it comes from a drive thru. I am beginning to understand why it's so important. My cholesterol was through the roof and in 2 months of clean healthy fat eating it is completely normal. BP also way down! I went off a steroid inhaler. Was on 1200 mg of ibuprofen daily and have cut that down to occasional use. The Lord is faithful. He is helping me to listen. Entertainment to pass time? We should be enjoying this life that He gifted us.

If you can't get out and walk or hike, I highly recommend Tim Janis videos on YouTube for meditation, stress reduction, visualization, and for prayer time search Dappy T Keys.

    FaceTime Yahtzee with grandson.

I also come here for fellowship, and to pray with others who are seeking the Lord for help, hope, and healing.

    How old are you?

What do you love to do?

Someone on here recommended watching some Carmen music videos which I gleaned some spirit food from as well.

    God bless you Donovan :-)

Also , I love to read , there are so many great books to read , I could give you a list but books are a very personal choice , one man's meat is another man's poison as the proverb says smiley face , I have about a dozen favourites ,Crime and Punishment , War and Peace , House of Mirth , the Tin Drum , the Trial , God Bless You Mr Rosewater , I could go on and on , you must find the kind of things that you like and enjoy , a good book is an easy friend to hang out with . Enjoy finding your new friends and may God bless you .

Hi Donovan , I have a little rule on this , I love films and have watched almost every kind throughout my life except pornography . My rule is that when I watch a film and I'm sat on my sofa at home , how would I feel about watching this film if Jesus was sat watching it with me ? If I would be uncomfortable with him sat next to me while I watched this then maybe I shouldn't be watching it . I'm not easily offended by bad language , I don't find nudity offensive just slightly embarrassing , violence is a fact of life and I've seen it in real life up close so that doesn't bother me too much but I don't watch pornography ,mostly because I just don't want to . I'm a mature adult so I don't think that I'm easily influenced . I don't ever watch TV , just dvds that I've bought for myself and I keep off the internet except for this site and a well known shopping site . We are all individuals and as such we have our own weaknesses and if you are aware of your own weaknesses you can learn to balance your life pleasures and keep yourself out of trouble . My three favourite films are , Breakfast at Tiffany's ( Audrey Hepburn character is a prostitute ) the original Disney cartoon of the Jungle Book and Midnight Cowboy with Dustin Hoffman and John Voight , these three films make me cry buckets of tears every time I watch them , I'm sure many Christians would be offended by my favourite films but that doesn't worry me one bit , choose your pleasures carefully but you are allowed to have some . Just remember to whom your heart belongs .

Donovan, Chris and Mishael have given you some good suggestions. I sense that you are fairly young?

When I was 19 (many years ago) I decided not to go to movies much anymore because so many of them depicted behaviors that were contrary to God's heart. Since I wanted to have a heart like His, I chose to not intake much of this type of entertainment either in the theaters or on TV. Now, 46 years later, I could probably count the number of movies I have seen on my fingers and toes. (most of which were children's movies with my kids). My husband and I have found other entertainment genres over the years. Oftentimes,we have to bow out of conversations about recent movies because we did not see them and so cannot contribute to the conversation.

I say this not to encourage you to follow what I have done. I was led by the Holy Spirit to make that choice when I was young. I felt that if I viewed movies that contained content that offended God I would soon be so de-sensitized that I would no longer find that content offensive, and I did not want to be like that. But the apostle Paul speaks about our liberty in Christ, so we do not need to have a long list of do's and don'ts, but we also are not to use our liberty to satisfy the desires of the sinful nature in each of us that we spend a lifetime fighting to eradicate. ( Galatians 5:13-26; 1 Corinthians 6:12-20)

So, I suggest that you pray over the activities you now engage in and ask God to prompt you as to which ones are healthy for you continue to engage in and which ones are corrupting of your character and spiritual walk. I trust that the Lord will guide you in this as He did for me when I was young and over the past decades.

Please get back to us and let us know how the Lord prompts you.

:D My family have all been game players.

Yahtzee, monopoly with extra cash added; WAHOO a marble game played cut throat (singles) or partners. :0

I play Lets Go Fishing (very intense) with my grandson. We play Scrabble & change rules to Bible Words sometimes.

I don't play online games. I used to play all the Sims games. I came up with a THEORY: "if you sit too many years playing games, Gravity takes over your body. The Rear fights back by moving around to your stomach area."

You know it's bad when you can balance a paper plate on your stomach. Just personal observations..

We play poker with all the extra Monopoly money.

There are many Christian movies, Bible Movies on YouTube. Type in Family Movies. There's hundreds.

Revelation Station Movies (year 2022 style) it's the Book of Revelation and the Millennial Kingdom. There's a new one, type in BLESSON. They have every Rapture movie made since the 70's. Lol

Porn and Naughty movies are a CHOICE. I was flipping through the channels last week and saw 10 seconds of John Wick in Spanish plus 1 murder. It was way worse than English. I don't care if people laugh at me because I can always get a "taker" trying to beat me on the Fishing Game! I like games other people bring too.

Thanks for your question, Donovan, it is a very appropriate one, especially when one is limited with friends, interests, or moving around the place.

You're correct, there's much that is evil on the Web, so one has to be discerning as to what to click on. At the outset, the Bible & prayer must be the most important part of your daily life. There's nothing to compare to feeding on God's Word & talking to the One Who loves you & brought you into His family. Just by you writing here for answers, can be a profitable short time in your day, or to engage with others around God's Word.

But I realize that it would be difficult for most to be reading the Bible for eight hours a day - we need to keep ourselves occupied with other things that might interest us. Just some suggestions, though not knowing your inclinations or your age:

Offering your services to your Church Fellowship, or in a voluntary capacity in a hospital, aged care facility, visiting the sick/shut-ins, library. Join a gym or low-cost daily/weekly exercise program. Some good documentaries on the Web: I have Tubi TV bookmarked & recently saw a great documentary on Yellowstone National Park (but there's a lot of rubbish on there as well - care needed). Some good Bible Teaching videos/religious debates on YouTube. Any interests or past-times? I'm into aircraft: I often do international flights on my Flight Simulator. Interested in driving - visiting nearby towns - helping someone who needs a lift. The options are almost endless, but not everything will suit you. I know you were asking about things to entertain you (for passing the time), but often engaging with others to help them, can often be more fulfilling & rewarding - and you might just get an open door to share Jesus with them.

Hope something here helps you & I'm sure you're laying this matter before the Lord for His directing.
