Is Mount Olivet { Acts 1:12} and Mount of Olives the same place? Jesus departs from here for heaven and it reads he will return to same location when he first returns

This was walking distance close to Jerusalem. The New Testament gives no indication Jesus ever had any transportation other than boat or on foot. A think that was pretty much the same for most people then. (Exception was when he arrived in Jerusalem before the crucifixion riding on the donkey. What has been termed by churches as Palm Sunday) By all evidence Jesus never visited any major city. He never was more than 200 miles from his home area and around the Sea of Galilee. Highly recommend "What If Jesus had Never Been Born by D. James Kennedy & Jerry Newcombe.

Jesus and the apostles walked or at times took a boat. No need for Health Clubs when you walk every day and for the distances they did.

Thanks for everyone's contribution. This is a wonderful venue.

    Thank you

I suggest two other books are so important to read. Dinesh D'Souza wrote "What is So Great About Christianity." He brings the strong intellectual material that is important for the serious Bible student to know and comprehend. Dinesh is an Indian who is American Citizens. He was framaed and targeted by White House to use the the Department of Justice to wrongfully to convict him because of all of his important books he has written. America should be deeply appreciative of his gargantuan work to teach that Americans the Precious Foundations that gave us the great nation status. He has been on of the most important forces to explain what was America we are seeing destroyed by Atheism, Post Modernism, and Political Left Marxism.

One book that is making Catholic Church defense. The discussion and understanding of the terribly false view of the Christian Crusades is an important to read. Even the Christian Church masses has let the false interpretation of this era be accepted as a blight on Christianty. It is very helpful to get a correct understanding. Henry Kamen's knowledge and writings of this time in Spain is very important to know. The repeat again and again that this was where Christians killing Non Christians is just non sense. "Christianity on Trial: Arguments Against Anti-Religious Bigoptry" by Vincent Carroll & David Shiplett

Have more but enough for now.

    Hey James,

Were you testing the waters, I feel you have more to add than you ask. I will check out the book. The truth is simple, but we as mankind kick up the dust of wisdom and make it hard to see.

    Don't stay away, God bless,

Thank you. In the same chapter 1 of Acts it says that Mount of Olives is a Sabbath Day Journey from Jerusalem. If you care to' comment on how far away is Mount of Olives from Jerusalem. We know some Israelite s were into a great deal of pedantic confab over what violated the Sabbath. This reached beyond what had anything to do with right thinking on keeping the Sabbath. I suspect there are commentaries that explain how the Sabbath Day Distance was arrived. Comment only if you want to. Thanks for your answer on my question.

    Brother James:

I don't know how far you were allowed to walk on the sabbath day. People had to feed and water their animals every day, including the sabbath, they prepared their meals, which meant possibly carrying water from the well for them and the livestock.

The Mt. of Olives is about a half mile from Jerusalem, so I would suppose you could travel about a half of a mile on the sabbath.

    A sabbath days journey.

Take this comment with a grain of salt, my opinion, there are others with more knowledge of Old Israel.

    God Bless You!

    Hey James,

The distance was 2000 cubits about 2/3 of a mile. I believe they came up with this distance from Joshua 3:4. I do not know when it started by the time of Jesus, they had many traditions they held rather than the commandments of God that Jesus busted them on. Matt. 15:1-7 also in Mark 7.

    God bless,

Thank for answering. You must be a "minister." I would suggest that it is often more effective to answer the direct question.asked. Backing up a semi and unloading the trunk of info, is not necessarily bad. It often is not that effective. So sometime brevity is better to be effective. Nothing said offends me, so do not take that I was at all offended. My best to you and thank you.

    Brother James:

I am not a minister, I am a lowly farmer.

The point of my comment was if you think the kingdom of God can be seen you are mistaken:

Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables, because they seeing see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Everyone is looking to physically see Christ at his second coming, when he said he would come like a thief in the night, like the days of Noah, they never understood until the doors of the ark were closed by God, and sudden destruction: DEATH.

Christ came to give us ETERNAL LIFE:

1 Timothy 6:16 Who (Christ) ONLY hath immortality, dwelling in he light ...

Man WILL NOT believe that the LIFE IN US IS CHRIST, we are just the BODY.

God Bless YOU; the body of Christ.

    Brother James:

    They are the same; BUT,

    Christ spoke other words ALSO:

And ALL CHRIST'S Words will COME TO PASS.

Ezekiel 18:31 Cast away from you all your transgressions; whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a NEW heart and a NEW spirit: for WHY WILL YE DIE, O house of Israel?

This QUESTION has to be ANSWERED: so we will ONLY DIE ONCE, and that DEATH happens while we stand on our own two feet.

Revelation 21:5 .....I make ALL THINGS NEW ....

So there will be a NEW MT. OLIVE: that is in NEW Jerusalem, a city made of LIVING stones, and a NEW temple therein.

This NEW PLACE, where God DWELLS is YOU.

Hebrews 9:27 For it is appointed to man ONCE TO DIE; but after this the JUDGEMENT.

Remember, ALL things have been made NEW.

Christ has BUILT a NEW HOUSE.

Hebrews 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that build (ready done) ALL THINGS is God.

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over HIS OWN HOUSE, whose HOUSE WE ARE ...the NEW house of God, where God dwells.

    What is this NEW judgement.

1 Peter 4:17 FOR THE TIME IS COME (Christ second coming, as the Holy Ghost, to LIVE is his NEW house: YOU) that JUDGEMENT must begin at the (NEW) house of GOD.

Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once OFFERED (in the flesh) to bear the sins of many (first coming); and unto them who LOOK FOR HIM (the thief in the night) he shall APPEAR the SECOND TIME (second coming, like a thief in the night) without sin UNTO SALVATION.

This house, our body, already has someone; the spirit of deception, that old serpent the devil, living in it; so that inhabitant has to DIE to make way for the NEW:

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery ...Christ in you ...

Matthew 12:28 But if I (the NEW man, Christ IN YOU) by the SPIRIT of GOD (TRUTH) cast out (kill, destroy) devils (the spirit of lies and deception, that live in MY HOUSE) then the Kingdom of God HAS COME TO YOU.

Remember ALL THINGS have been made NEW, but you CANNOT see them with eyes of flesh.

God Bless YOU, the body of Christ
