    Marilyn,

Tithes were an ordinance for people of Israel. As a Christian, all you have is God's and how you "give/share" is what is from your heart.

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

I am going to call this the question from a old man loosing it. Does the Lord get mad at you or does he just deal with you one on one or how does he deal with it in other ways? Sorry I am getting old and do not understand things as good as I used to. Does he get mad, does he hold it against you or does he forgive you for everything he can and does he forgive you for the things you do wrong and wipe the slate clean when you ask for forgiveness so how does he deal with you when you do wrong? When I remember just what I wanted to ask I will put it back on here but thank you all if you can help me with this now. Amen I will come back and check this one. I really wish there was a easier way to answer these questions and that is about the only thing on this site I would change but it is a great site the best I have seen ever. I know I can use google but I know more than likely the people on here are honest and from the heart!

I'm unsure what you mean. The only qualification I know of for a Christian to partake of the Lord's Supper, is that he be born again of God's Spirit & comes before the Lord with a heart & conscience that harbours no sin or ill against anyone. He should set things right in his heart & with others before eating of the emblems that vividly remind him what Jesus has done for Him at Calvary. So it would by hypocritical for him to remember the Lord, giving thanks, yet still have a heart that stained with unconfessed sin.

Can you name all virtues of a worthy Christian, bf he partakes in Holy Communion?

I agree with your understanding, Miguel. However, in present context, if a man so wears his hair that resembles a woman then there is confusion. Likewise, a women cutting her hair in a way to be confused with a man's cut. Of course, there are occasions, maybe medical reasons, for that to be the case, but our appearance (as with clothing) should depict what is consistent with our genders. Yet, we are not appointed judges on these matters, God is, but we're to declare the Word of God (1 Corinthians chapter 11).

As long as I concerned. Many people had long hair B.C , but the meaning of long hair back then is different, seen a man with their hair up to their shoulders was normal, but if their hair was more than that it was considered long.

If women hair is her covering do she still have to cover her head

Apparent error in some modern N.T. 1 Cor. 11:1-16 : Paul had the complex role of helping new believers adapt their understanding to the new life in Jesus, from the OT system. I believe this is Paul answering some of their questions to him. 1 Cor.7:1. Let's determine to stay with Paul and study his letter as a whole, rather than promote the error of some altered Bibles.

The word "Ordinances" in our v,2 is defined in this letter in ch,2:2, which tells that these ordinance were Jesus Christ an him crucified, not about stuff which was for the daughters of the first Adam. Nevertheless, for believers, it otherwise, being "In the Lord" (v.11)

The original word for "Head" in our v. 3, is commonly used as, "source or supply, like the head of a river, also translated "Sum" in Acts 22:28.

Our v.10, in the original, has no reference to wearing a symbol, but simply says, she shall have power" on (which is defined "jurisdiction, right, privilege, on or over head" because she has angels ministering to her. (see Heb.1:14 )

In our v.16, The original word for "Custom" is defined "An established practice" and must refer to the practices which only the daughters of the first Adam adhere to, not those "In the Lord."

1 Corinthians chapter 11, on the meaning of & manner in partaking at the Lord's Table, speaks about the person who partakes of it, identifying himself with Christ. The reason for instituting this act was very clear as it had been first done by Jesus with His disciples. In the Church, the believer approaches the Table solemnly, understanding the meaning of the emblems & its relevance to his/her life.

What was happening in the Corinthian Church, was that there were many who just looked at this occasion as a time to have a meal with little or no regard to its meaning & to others there, who had not been served as yet. In those days, the Communion Table was actually a Fellowship meal & during that time of gathering, one would rise, take the bread & the cup & draw the believers' hearts into contemplation of the Lord's sacrificial work; similar to the Passover meal that Jesus & the disciples enjoyed together ( Matthew 26:19-29).

So Paul was chastising them for their irreverence, & also approaching this sacred time with hearts not right before God (i.e. they may have believed by going through its motions, some cleansing or sanctifying benefit would be gained - and many do & think this in the Church today). To this type of gluttony & false application, Paul is dealing with them & stating that God does not let this type of behaviour go unpunished. We need to be careful too - it's better to let the emblems pass by us, if we are harbouring any type of sin that needs dealing with & confession.

Here we see the truth of the Godhead .

" I would have you to know , that the head of every man is Christ ;and the head of every woman is the man ; and the head of Christ is God .

"Not discerning the Lord's body"not understanding his body was given for phsycal

healing.Resulting in many being sick and some dead.

Two verses on judging, chasning, and condemning and two verses on how to avoid

Them. These verses have nothing to do with the Lord's supper observance and all to

do with the love feast that happens before the Lord's supper. Note vs. 34 repeats part

    Of vs.22..'

His blood was given for our redemption his body in part for our physical bodies.

By His stripes we are healed spiritually and physicaly..

I have never heard of it as being in the Bible & after a search, I couldn't find the phrase. More likely, just a colloquial phrase in today's speech, to give some measure of comfort & assurance that most of our present sorrows will diminish or dissolve.

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (This is toward the end of the tribulation)

Kenneth...I have a couple of explanations on this. Apart from a few (ancient) texts that say that "...this is My Body, which is given for you" (Textus Vaticanus and Textus Sanaiticus), most others show the word "broken" in that Scripture. One explanation is that Jesus' Body on the Cross was broken, but His Bones were intact, according to Scripture. So, Broken here means, it was torn, ripped, speared, bleeding, but His Bones were not touched. Another explanation is that it was referencing the offering of bread in communion and splitting (breaking) it apart to represent the crucified Body. I don't think we should unduly labour this point, as remembering His Sacrifice was paramount here.
  • Kenneth on 1 Corinthians 11:24 - 5 years ago
Why did the translation in the KJV use the word Broken when there was nothing Broken in The Body of Christ...

And Jesus never said His Body would be Broken, but only Given....

Yes, in the old testament the elder of the group was ordained to cover the door posts with the sacrifice blood using Hyssop.I had asked the same question recently ,since we are not able to gather. I referred to the old testament only because our situation today is very similar to the passover in that time. The most important objects are the wine and bread, along with Jesus words!Making sure to use his words when taking the sacrament! Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Hosanna. Hosanna in the highest.

I was taught Selah, means "pause, and think on these things'.
  • Chris on 1 Corinthians 11:26 - 5 years ago
This Hebrew word has been difficult to correctly translate. However, it is generally accepted that it means: to pause or to reflect at the end of the 'verse' (on what has just been read or sung). At times, it could also mean some type of musical term or provide musical direction. We know that Psalms, in Hebrew, are poetic in nature and often sung, especially to musical accompaniment: (see James 5:13). Also when the Lord spent his final hours with his disciples in the Upper Room, at the end of their meal, they had sung a hymn (very likely a Psalm) & then went out to the Mt. of Olives. However, Selah could possibly allow for some thanks and praise, as was suggested to you.
  • Vanasha Little on 1 Corinthians 11:26 - 5 years ago
Selah, what does it mean as a word in general???

Someone or an angel told me that it is the same as saying, thank you Jesus, or praises to my Lord and savior or hallelujah thank you Jesus. Is that true???
