That we no longer need to be as babes on the sincere milk of the word but that we need to grow up and die to self and our way of thinking.
  • Jeff on 1 Corinthians 13:10 - 11 years ago

Thank God for Jesus, for He is the holy, harmless, undefiled Lamb of God, who when He returns for His bride, the Church that will be without spot or blemish, will be perfected at His coming. When we see Jesus, we will be just like Him, entire sanctification. Spiritual gifts will be done away with, because we will be face to face with the Savior forever.

what God showed me was that we can have charity (love) that is none other than a love that seeks recognition showing others how great we are for all the good things we've done for others. But if it is not the kind of charity(love) that is devine and in need of no recognition, true charity ( love) full of compassion then we have missed the mark. Then Paul goes on to tell us how to get to the spiritual place we need to be to
obtain a love so great. He simply states when I was a
child I spake as a child but when I became a man I put away childish things I think hes telling us to grow spiritualy into a man or woman and put away our childish ways and God will take care of the rest.
  • Job on 1 Corinthians 13:1 - 11 years ago
Its the way that God has commanded his children to behove themselves of.
  • Jim Kern on 1 Corinthians 13:3 - 11 years ago
I think it may be referring to the fact that during that era Nero was burning
Christians at the stake. Paul may be saying that a supreme sacrifice might be to take the place of someone scheduled to be so sacrificed. Selah...

While God walked earth in the image of Christ Jesus, we see Jesus being able to do any and everything....None in all their power and glory then and now can to be compared or likened to Him...Yet we saw Him living like a pauper...not showing off what he could do or he he really was....Yes that was not important...being kind and giving comfort and forgiveness to the sick and the afflicted, the demon possessed and point people to wisdom and understanding...God did not just say love but he lived love showing us that the humble way out is the winner way out.....One can only begin to love when he debase/humbles himself for only then can he see others....

I believe this verse so much that's what I built my marriage on and I stayed in my marriage till God parted us! Amen and Amen I pray that younger women would believe and do everything it takes to stay in their marriages according to God's instructions on marriage!
  • Robertflannery on 1 Corinthians 13:13 - 11 years ago
Chap 13 verse 13; God wants us to read and study the entire chapters of 13 and 14. God's revelation is inclusive.
(All) the verses in His word are divinely inspired. John 3:16 is a commonly used verse, but verse 17, John 3:17 completes verse 16 as does verses 18 through 21 of John chapter three!
  • Dewayne on 1 Corinthians 13:10 - 11 years ago
I don't feel it makes any difference what it means. I believe that Pentacostal people love Jesus just as much as baptist or the Church of Christ. I think its a shame that we let verses like this divide us. We are all the body of Christ. If people can get the gifts, more power to them, but if they can't oh well. I have never spoken in tongues, but I do know for sure I have the Holy Spirit. He manifests himself to me in other ways. Maybe some people need more signs than others. I am confident in my salvation. I love all people and I think it's time to quit arguing about things that we can't prove and concedntrate on the more important issues in the Bible like spreading the Gospel. We are our on worst judges as Christians. United we stand, divided we fall.
  • David boyer on 1 Corinthians 13 - 11 years ago
I think that Paul is saying to be kind to one other. And do not be stuck up. Cause God does not like that!
  • Augustine on 1 Corinthians 13:8 - 11 years ago
God's words are true and awesome, encouraging, and worthy, Praise the Lord ! Thanks
  • Hesbon odongo on 1 Corinthians 13:10 - 11 years ago
My belief is that God's word is perfect, the Bible is God's word. Therefore the Bible is that which is perfect and came into being or completion with the completion of the scriptures.
  • Timothy Wayne George on 1 Corinthians 13:1 - 11 years ago
Charity and Love are the same. There are three types of Love: Friendship, Eros, and Agape. We must have unconditional love as Christians for this is the Love that the Lord Jesus Christ has for us. God commended His love for us, in that while we were sinners Christ died for us. That is Agape love, and it allows us to love the sinner, while hating the sin. When Jesus said a new commandment I give unto you that you love one another, as I have loved you. We will win others to Christ when they see the love that we have one for the other. Love covers a multitude of sins. Love believes all things, bears all things, and hopes all things. Love never fails. So love one another, for love is of God. Here by know we have p***ed from death, unto life, when we love the brothers.

    in women's discipleship.
  • John Smith on 1 Corinthians 13:11 - 11 years ago
This means when I was a babe in Christ It was obvious by my actions but now that I am a mature Christian and understand the word of God I act like it. My actions should show my maturity. This can fit both the natural person and the spiritual.
  • Larry Kinsler on 1 Corinthians 13:10 - 11 years ago
There is absolutely nothing in the context of 1 Corinthians 13 that suggests " that which is perfect" is the completed New Testament. This is an arbitrary conclusion from man that continues to be believed by virtually everyone in the Church today; tradition over the Truth. The context does suggest that this will be when we are fully saved and have our glorified bodies. At this time we will be with Christ. We certainly will not need the gifts mentioned in the previous chapter at this time. While we will not need to practice these spiritual gifts, we will continue to carry love in our hearts, hence the emphasis on " charity " in this chapter. This is the only logical interpretation that will fit the context here.
  • Tommy Watts on 1 Corinthians 13:8 - 11 years ago
Though I am unable to obey all That God commands and I did all I could do to stop God' will for me . He overcame my actions , He overcame & brought me into His will & His purpose for my life. His love never fails. God says nothing can stop me.
  • Esther on 1 Corinthians 13:4 - 11 years ago
Love is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. Since God is love and all these describe His nature, we can be sure that love also posses all these. Psalm 103:8
  • R. D. Mattock on 1 Corinthians 13 - 11 years ago
He that loves not knows not God, for God is love. Perfect love casts out all fear. This is my commandment that you love one another, that your joy may be full. By this shall they know that you are my disciples because you have loved one another. He that hates his brother, the love of God does not abide in him.
  • Richard on 1 Corinthians 13:4 - 12 years ago
    Indeed God is Love.
  • Blessing okon on 1 Corinthians 13 - 12 years ago
Love is one of greatest things that can ever happen in your life! The fact is that when you love you just can’t hate.
  • Cheri on 1 Corinthians 13 - 12 years ago
All I can say is I liked what Melissa's said, “Jesus is love”. So many times the word “love” is said so much, like oh I love this or that, or oh I really love that person. I myself have a hard time our Lord God loving me. But I can say I have felt the love of God our father, Jesus and holy spirit but growing up and off the world did not help me, when Jesus come into my heart I’m still trying to understand the real meaning of love. But just saying Jesus is love is a “big” help. Thank you all for your comments. God bless.
  • Jim Bell on 1 Corinthians 13 - 12 years ago
This is all the best of all of us. This statement brings clarity to so any situation. No matter what belief you subscribe to this cannot be disputed it is written in truth and in truth it shall stand.
  • Bobby Mayton on 1 Corinthians 13:1 - 12 years ago
In this day and time with all the meaningless things going on, it would be good to get back to the Bible and realize how important love really is.
