This commandment was before we were under God's grace. This was the Mosaic law, but we are no longer operating under the law but under grace. Therefore, that changes everything. Now women are allowed to preach and do whatever God has called them to do. Praise God.

So...dealing with women keeping silence...what if there is no husband...maiden, widow, ???
  • Vanessa on 1 Corinthians 14 - 6 years ago
The women that followed Christ did just that followed. It was up to their husbands to come home and teach what they had been taught in the word. Paul was one of the greatest men that walked this earth his passion to share the gospel, wherever God lead him he went, he is not 1 I would want to judge nor bash, he spoke the word not his own, he was filled in the spirit.

Let's follow the Word of God and not man. This word tells us to do things decently and in order because God is not the author of confusion. Tongues are given to you to build up your faith. Not to show off with everyone else at church. When you assemble with others it should be to build up others by interpretating a tongue that is spoken, and pray for the Lord to draw someone to him who is lost.

Verse 20~We must strive to be full grown in our understanding of what God requires of us. This will help us to be pleasing to him and to have a close personal relationship with him.
  • Alice on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
Shows the difference between GOD,and mam . JESUS invited women to follow him! Paul is a man speaking his own thoughts and beliefs.
  • BrenWeb on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
God created the heaven and earth, he knows all things before the foundation was ever laid. Many are call and few are chosen. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will allow his will to be done through whomever he choose. It is Godbusiness. Remember the "Wisdom of man is the foolishness of God"
  • Jimmy a disciple of Jesus on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago

"Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaks a barbarian, and he that speaks shall be a barbarian unto me." The Lord gave four examples of the kinds of hearts men have with respect to hearing and receiving His Word. The examples all came out of the individuals' own making of what kind they would be; for God's will is clearly for ALL of them to have been saved.

Wayne; God commanded the woman to be under obedience and subjection to her husband in Genesis 3:15 directly after pronouncing to the serpent his eternal condemnation and the breaking of his head by the coming of Christ. The Western Churches are in disobedience to this Word because of rebellious worldly influences and thinking they're above such things, thus opening the door to more and more evil.
  • A disciple on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
The Law for the women to keep silence and be obedient was commanded by the LORD God in Eden because of the woman's being beguiled by the devil. All things decently and in order, is the right way for Christians to conduct themselves; both at home and their usual surroundings, and in Assembly. Most all of the Western Churches however have abandoned modesty and orderly conduct for worldly influences.

Had a woman preacher in a church on west coast who lead the congregation for 20 years. Highly respected and loved by all.
  • Ann on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
I have heard pastors say, women are to be kept silent in church, women should are not to preach in churches.
  • Julia M Rivera on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
The head of man is Christ and the head of the women is man therefore a woman must summit to her husband who is the head of a congregation and be silence! Yes she can learn through her[ head ]husband and teach what she learns to her children..So the head of the family must follow God's laws and commandments and become holy.

    The verse was very informative.

Luke 23:4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. John 19:6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Verse 34:14 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law." I have read a modern translation saying "silent during church meetings". Does this mean the worship service or what? As a woman who has been called by God to evangelize preach, this verse has always offered me some confusion.

U known sometime God will send a word and if there is one in the church who understands the word that was spoken in tongue then that person is to tell the people what God is saying. we know that tongues shall cease but we must remember to love one another the bible say if we speak in tongue and do not have love we are nothing u see God is love that why he sent his son to die for us love Amen
  • Charles Bonsu on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
    Amen.

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. V. 38. There are those, as the Bible states, will struggle in their ignorance of scripture, to their destruction.
  • Electric_Angel69 on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
concerning the speaking in tongues... Pauls not talking about the cloven tongue. He is talking about teaching in places where the people speak a different language. If you do not know the native tongue in Italy, for example, it would be quite difficult to teach the Bible to the people. That's why Paul says in verse 18 : I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.....
  • Mari on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
Oh but there most certainly is speaking in other tongues for today Sad thing is that it's not preached on much. My small church speaks in tongues. Its mostly in the "spirit filled" churches will you find this. The Ho!y Ghost (Spirit) is for everyone
  • Ray321 on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. Love is so important in this evil world today. CHARITY
  • A disciple on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
Ray; Ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find, Knock and it shall be opened to you! The Father is generous with giving wisdom and knowledge and understanding, when we ask Him. There are many good prayers in the Bible, put there for us to use; for example: Psalm 119:73 "Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments."
  • Ray321 on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
1 Corinthians 14:11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. Paul was being very clear about tongues, if a person could not understand the voice, then he that speaketh tongues is a BARARIAN. Wow, what does that profit. The Word of the Gospel is what we should be spreading to the unsaved.
  • Douglas Gilbert Wells on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
The unknown tongue is to give glory to the God above this earth. And to mess to the god of the this earth and below this earth. That also the Judge the above this earth who shall the. Earth because of it sin that truly the judge above this earth. Amen to that

Verse 9: We should give attention to the fluency of our speech. If we do not speak clearly, our message may be confused or will not come across clearly at all.
  • Ray321 on 1 Corinthians 14 - 7 years ago
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If we use God Words the way He wants us to, it will be approved.
