O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe you are referring to Revelation 1:18 where we find Jesus having the keys of death.

We can look at, then, at Colossians 2:15 -

"15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

Jesus spoiled all the rulers of darkness; satan and his cohorts are defeated foes; all power and glory belongs

to Christ, Who has gotten us the victory! Amen!

Anyway, back to Acts 10:9 & following verses: my point of objection is that you see this vision from the Lord to Peter as something to do with water baptism. As I read this portion, the whole message to Peter was to "call nothing common or unclean". That is, the unclean animals on the sheet represented not just unclean animals, but people that God had chosen to also become joint-heirs with the Jews who also believed, through Jesus' Blood. So this was preparation for Peter to meet with gentile Cornelius & Peter even declared to him (v28) that even though a Jew couldn't meet with a gentile, God had showed him differently.

Eventually, as Peter preached to him (them), the Spirit fell upon them, they spoke in other tongues & were baptized in water (vv 44-48). The clear order is seen here, to which you are disputing. There is no indication here or anywhere else that Peter ever "implied that the blood of our lord was insufficient and that water baptism cd remit sins".

This is your interpretation that is baseless & developed on spiritualizing so much of Scripture as you do here & in your other comments. You need to show where Peter, or anyone else, ever believed that water baptism could remit sins - if any did believe that, then they were not Christians saved & purchased by Christ's blood - they have not come via the Cross but by some vain imagination.

I certainly agree that there is only one sacrifice that can save & there is only one baptism that can sanctify & bring us into the family of God. Nevertheless, water baptism as Jesus prescribed & to which all the apostles attest to was necessary as part of that salvation experience. The only ones that were exempt from water baptism, as I surmise, were the apostles who were met by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. As well, we don't ever see the apostles speaking about their water baptism.

Every other person who has had the Gospel brought to them, who has responded to the Spirit's call upon them, is required to be baptized soon after their conversion by the one who has led them to the Lord. This of course rarely happens these days with people being baptized months or years later, which to me seems pointless & anti-scriptural.

Chris ya gotta realize that all the unclean ANIMALS in that sheet that God showed PETER was humanity the Church that was made Clean by the blood of the lamb,HG. Some believe that while Jesus' body was in the tomb, His spirit was in hell.Scripture doesn't support that position when it is taken in context and we look at the meaning of the word "hell." In the Old Testament, the place of the dead or the place of departed souls was called "SHEOL." It was to this place that all souls of the dead went to await resurrection.

In the New Testament, we find the story of Lazarus and the rich man who both died and went to Hades ( Luke 16:19-31). The KJV translates the Greek word "hades" as hell but most other translations use the Greek word. HADES had two separated parts: Those who died in faith believing in God's promise waited for the resurrection in Abraham's Bosom. Those who died spiritually separated from God wait in torment for the resurrection unto death, eternal separation from God. The rich man was on the torment side and Lazarus was in ABRAHAMS BOSOM which was called "PARADISE" by the LORD Jesus Christ himself when He addressed the thief who found faith the day Jesus was crucified ( Luke 23:42-43)

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment" ( 2 Peter 2:4). The word translated "HELL" here is not the Greek word "HADES" but is the Greek word "TARTARUS" meaning ABYSS or the lowest regions. This could very well be the "gulf" that was fixed between the PLACE OF TORMENT and Abraham's Bosom ( Luke 16:26).

Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fulfill all things" ( Eph 4:8-10). Leading captivity captive seems to refer to Jesus taking all those that waited in Paradise to heaven to be with Him. The descending into the "lower parts" then refers to Jesus mission of declaring Victory! M.

Please do not take this question to serious it is just one I have wondered about for a while. Is the very day that God rested all that important? God set apart the seventh day at creation for worship and rest. God's word never changed His day for worship and rest to Sunday man did. God's word never changes. I challenge you to do a word search on seventh day and Sabath day in the King James and be amazed what God's word has to say about it. I was blown away when I did.

I need verses that testify to Sunday worship.

I have done some research and found that the Catholic church is behind most of the new translations. The NIV for sure. I stick with the Good ole King James Version. I also use Greek Lexicon as a companion. A lot of strange doctrines and cults have stemmed from New English translations. I think they have purposely removed verses and reworded others to change meanings.

The ones who dont know who they are

There is something missing from the newer translations people! Especially, the deity of Christ. I wonder who would want to attack HIM???

@ Sonya, I noticed and thought the same thing. Look into Bible Mandela effects. It's been happening a lot. I've noticed it largely in the epistles. One of the most obvious ones is where (in multiples places, including James) it will word it that either God has a father or that God and the Father are two different Beings. It used to say God the Father, now it says God even the Father.

NOTE: Anathema Maranatha means: "Cursed Forever (ie, 'even until the Return of Our Lord')." This was a common term among the Jews in Paul's time for those who rejected God.

Thus, Maranatha, HERE, is NOT a postive invocation of God by Paul, but is ONLY to be taken with the capitalized word Anathema, to indicate that there is no hope to be saved outside of Christ's work on the cross ( Acts 7:12).

Why has this been added to the end of the chapter The first epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi by Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus and Timotheus. ? It says just a few verses before that this was written by the hand of Paul, thus contradicting God's Word. This appears to be man's, or perhaps the devil's, attempt to discredit the Bible as pure, preserved and infallible.

Verse 13~We must carry on as men in that we must be courageous and strong.

"Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." Proverbs 20:13 "Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread." How were the Israelites fed in the wilderness forty years? Yet with all the miracles and hearing God's voice from heaven, all they could say about the Bread from heaven, "What is it?" Wake up, and KEEP AWAKE!

1 Corinthians 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. If Paul were have churches in people's houses, we are going to see more because end times. When two or three are gather together in the Lord's name, there is Jesus in the mist. We can have church in a car , God will not refuse that. AMEN

The Lord Jesus Christ knows what 'amen' means - Thank-you, Bruce.

You may hear Amen from some, in the church. You would hear this more often a few years back. In Hebrew or Greek it means the same thing. We can pray in his will or ask his will be done. Amen does not mean Thy will be done. The meaning is: so be it, truly, truth. God said it, I believe it. Amen! Let's just stay in the B-I-B-L-E, Amen
