    I really love that quote
  • Dan on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
verse 3 says they have fellowship with the father and his son Jesus Christ and their desire is that we may also have that same fellowship with them. verse 5 says God is Light and in him is no Darkness at all in 3:23 your given two commandments one is to believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ and 2 is to love one another as he gave commandment verse 3:24 says that if you keep these commandments then God who is light will dwell in you and you will dwell in him if you walk in darkness you are not keeping his commandments then he there for does not dwell in you and you have no fellowship with him and are a liar 2 :22 says Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ he is anti Christ that denies the father and the son then you have no fellowship with god and are walking in darkness because god does not dwell in you 1:7 says that if you walk in the the light meaning you keep his commandments then he dwells in you and you have fellowship with him and his son you might have missed that it says fellowship one with another
  • John madden on 1 John 1:6 - 9 years ago
We cant abide in darkness if we are God's children because in him is no darkness at all. If we say dont live in the lite were living in darkness.
  • Dd on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
Is God able to forgive all my unrighteousness? If someone gets an unbiblical divorce, and is remarried is God able to forgive this sin?
  • Steve on 1 John 1:9 - 9 years ago
I believe that we must confess all our sins to God. I don 't believe that this falls under works. I believe this is out of love for what Christ has done for us on the cross and to repent of our sins which is to turn from sin and to turn to God. This is not works this is choice. We do this out of conviction of our sin because God is in us.
  • Mario on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
If this scripture was for believers why does verse 8 say " If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. " If it was to believers, they would not say I have no sin and they would know that they were sinners, now they are not. Jesus took our sins before the foundations of the earth. If the old testament the Israelite had to ask forgiveness their sins once a year, why would Jesus a better sacrifice, done it once and for all. So why must we ask forgiveness every day, every month, every year, Does this mean that we do not believe that Jesus did completely take our sins, this means unbelief, so then this means that you have no salvation if you do NOT believe that Jesus is our savior. Jesus is coming back for hid bride not to deal with sin. Jesus dealt with sin once and for all. Believe and thank him and glorify him, forever and ever.
  • Lilian on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
God is pure. We are already cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. He took all of our sins, curse, diseases and pain to the cross . We are now saved because of his love, mercy and grace. Thanks to the blood of Jesus that shed for us, Thanks to his Resurrection, his Ascencion and thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit to be with us all the time. Amen
  • Roland Nahereza on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
The Blood of His,cleansed and still cleanses of all sin each day
  • Roland Nahereza on 1 John 1:8 - 9 years ago
TRUE!! If we ever say we have no sin, then we should ask ourselves why our LORD Jesus taught His disciples in Mathew 6:12 to always ask for forgiveness in The Lord 's prayer..
  • ANGELA on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
THE BLOOD THAT CLEANSES US FROM ALL OUR SIN!!!THE BLOOD OF THE ONLY SACRIFICE THAT WAS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO WAS AWAY OUR SINS..BUT WE MUST WATCH WHO WE WALK WITH ,IF WE STAY WITH THE WRONG CROWD THEY CAN PULL THE LIFE AND JOY RIGHT OUT OF YOU.ONCE GOD GIVES US THE KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH WE MUST TRY TO WALK IN IT..FOR US TO WILLFUL SIN AFTER WE HAVE RECEIVED THE KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH THERE REMAINETH NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR OUR SINS...BUT GOD IS A FORGIVING GOD ...I PRAY THAT GOD WILL ENLIGHTEN OUR EYES AND OUR HEARTS TO RECEIVE THE TRUTH..
  • Ray on 1 John 1:4 - 9 years ago
It depends where you are looking for your Joy? God tells us to be angry and sin not. Anger is part of the grieving process as long as you don 't get stuck there. Ultimately our Joy should come from God...The writer of 1 John is telling us he wrote this epistle to tell us how to get that Joy verse 4...I 'm reminded of Nehemiah 8:10 The Joy of the Lord is our strength...We need to read all 5 of the epistles of John to find out how to obtain and KEEP our joy.
  • ANGELA on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
God is ready to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness if we confess our sins
  • Patricia Chance on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
The word of God is truly the only way ,that if we submit to them it bring us closer to love God.
  • Amos Meck on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
When there was nothing on the earth , the word of God was there.
  • Philip Surridge on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
I beleave at sometime in our lives God gives everyone the opportunity , to recognise his presence. And is always available to accept us . That is the message , That is the good news , those of us who by "Gods Grace " have recognised the opportunity and have asked him to come into our lives know that the blood of Jesus Christ his son Cleanseth us from all sin, as it says in the Gospel " Not by what We have done because we we are all sinners, it is by Gods Grace so we hold on to gods promise and are sermon of his salvation , amen
  • Karen on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
    I. Love it
  • John Madden on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
also he was refuting the false teaching of the nostics.in which they concluded that all matter was evil including the body so they were saying i have fellowship with god but john says ,no they were walking in darkness, because they had no truthin them ,in reality the body is dead because of sin .but we are topresent our selves to god a liveing sacrifice, true believers desire to dwell in the light.not in darkness
  • John madden on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
yes its all by grace that were saved.,but john is saying here if some one says thier walkingin the lite.which means liveing in the lite .and liveing in the dark the truth is not in them.thier lieing which means thier not liveing in the lite.god is lite no darkness at all.so by grace some live in the lite.others say they are but walk live in darkness.liveing in the lite is the result of grace its not a work but a result.liveing in darkness is a result of no truth in them
  • John madden on 1 John 1:6 - 9 years ago
its true light and darkness are two diffrent ways of life .one liveing in the lite one liveing in darkness...some take these verses and try to mske them say we.can live in the dark and just confess and move on..

  • Lilian on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
God shed his blood for us to be free of sin. We are now live because of God 's forgiveness. Jesus already fullfill the scriptures and thru his death and blood of Jesus we are saved. We must be Born Again in Spirit and invite God to dwell in our lives in order for us to be saved and free from the works of the defeated devil. There is a power in the name of Jesus just believed in him that He is the Son of Living God who always protect us, comfort us, provider and Healer. We already live with full of milk and honey because of Jesus. Jesus loves you keep praising him and thanking him for all the blessing he have given to us. Seek the Kingdom of God first and you will find the truth. All things that you need will be added unto you. He who loves Jesus will keep his commandments until rapture
  • Sonya Davis on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
This is a very good scripture because it reminds the christian that is working on him or herself that no one is free of sin, but as with anything the comment made on 1 21 2015 at 11:37 am satan is still using his spawns to attack christians and that should not be what this site is about. True christians pray for one another and do not concern themselves with airing anothers sin bringing discord to a website that is devoted to true believers. A real friend doesn 't do this.

  • Caspar on 1 John 1:8 - 9 years ago
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it. Jeremiah 17:9 The first Adam sought his own will in the first garden and incurred a death sentence for all mankind. The second Adam Jesus Christ said in the second garden- "not my will, but thy will... " Thanks be unto God that we are purchased by the blood of the Lamb and we can confess our sins, John 1:9 and be perfect in Him- Genesis 17:1 and that our "righteousness exceeds the scribes and pharisees " of old.

Jesus Christ is the Light John1:4 . Waliking in the light means to walk in Jesus Christ. Waliking in Jesus Christ means to walk in the Holy Spirit and not in flesh darkness . As Christ is in the light Holy Spirit , we are connected and made one by the Holy Spirit in Christ in God John 17:21 and the blood of Jesus cleanse us from all errors, mistakes, confessed and forsaken sins Not sin not forsaken Romans6:1
  • Lonnie on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
I am using this passage on a friend who is currently pretending that everything is wonderful. Hidden sin is keeping her in misery. I learned that confessing is taking out the trash. If you do not, the trash remains inside and it will smell, and even make the place the visage look bad.
  • Bill on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
A believer lives righteously to the extent he is abiding in Christ Who lives within the realm of that believer s righteous spirit . In fact, 1 John 1:9 makes it clear that a believer s soul can be cleansed of all unrighteousness! Therefore, it is possible for a believer to live consistently righteous i.e., perfect , to the extent his heart is clean of sin 1 John 1:7.

  • Issak on 1 John 1:7 - 9 years ago
People think that because the Lord died for our sins, they have "carte Blanche " to go on sining ways.it is like the Lord pays for our past present and future sins I am ok going practicing sinful ways, but remember when people came to the Lord saying ! oh Lord forgive my sins...! then Jesus will say your sins are forgiven....but just before they where out of the door he will add " now go and sin no more "....!!
