1John chapter 1 as well as the whole book is written to the church. The epistles of John are letters writtento the church. All epistles were letters written the church to admonish. Church folks on their wreckless lifestyle.

Brother i completly agree with you and here is one of many scriptures to back it up. John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
In Mark chapter 5 is the story of the caveman with a legion of demons,(about 2000)jesus cast them out with authority. The very same athourity he has givin us today to do GREATER works than these...

If you are a born again christian it should be no surprise to you what to do when satan comes up agaist you. God has invested in you power and autority to rebuke the devil away from you and out of you. (Eph6:10-22). Even if you are a new christian today the LORD JESUS CHRIST will recieve you instantly into is Holy Spirit the moment within a twinkling of an eye He is in you for all eternity. God bless and have a Jesus filled day every day. Kenny.

Simply believe and have faith in what is written. your ad-visor is God and he advises and he speaks to you through his word. Refer to your bible and look at how many times he speaks of diligently seeking him, getting spiritual knowledge and understanding. Prayer and study he will draw nearer to you. God is not an earthly scholar so if you approach gaining knowledge of him through mans written analysis? by You perhaps need to first ask God to give you trust and belief in him. And not in trust of man and this world. I hope you know too that God is calling you. His word has been corrupted by the denominational churches. God warns us of these churches who have removed his written word and stay away from the holy bible. He also speaks of who is behind ( Satan) Prayer, fasting and study of the king james bible. God will draw closure to you. Not many recognize or question why Gods Love letter ( king james) has been thrown out or rewritten. Satan his the influence and if he can get those false pastors and teachers to turn away from the true written word (surprise man kind looses his ticket to salvation. God Bless you

MIKE, thank you for THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT.It is magnificent. If I have more questions I will call you. It is going to be soon, I am sure.Let us be perfect as perfect is our Heavenly Father.GOD BLESS US ALL
P.S. I saw a comment about how Abraham had to sacrifice Isaak. For me it is a good lesson about God - man relationship. Man has to be full of faith and totally obedient to God without expecting anything in return.

Bane's , Matthew 5 " The Sermon on the Mount. The "B" Attitudes- Christ was explaining despite the way we are treated in the world we are or will be blessed for a God honoring responce. Romans 12:14-21 goes on to further explain how Christians today deal with these types of problems. The people at the sermon on the mount did not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as we do today. What Jesus tought them went against all the teaching they had recieved. There were 400 years between the old testament and new testament where God did not speak to the Jewish people so the religous establishment gave moral guidance to direct peoples worship. It was refreshing and new for the people to hear the word of God from Jesus. God Bless

    answer to MIKE
first of all, thank you for thinking about me. In some things I agree, in some I disagree but in one you are right. One has to be in the company of fellow Christians, and I am sure God will show me the way. Now a simple question. In Serbian language there is term BESEDA NA GORI (speech on the hill) for 111 verses in Matthew chapter 5 and further. What is the universal term for this in English language. Best regards and GOD BLESS YOU.

To Bane's, You grew up with trust being a hard thing to do from what you have related to me. When you accepted Christ as your personal Saviour he exspect us to trust Him and those he sends our way. He also exspects us to be part of a local church.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
The Holy Spirit is residing in you and You Were baptised in the Holy Spirit the moment you accepted Christ. It dose not invole any type of works, tounges,EXC. God will show you his word in many ways from the same schripture. This is how I receive many of my blessings in life.I can recall at least 12 differnt messages over peter walking on the water. All schriptural, correct & a blessing. Think for a second--Who would want to keep you from a local church?? Christ who established the church and died for it?? or Satan who wants to steal your joy?? I must head to work so will continue later. If you tell me what town you live in I can see if I know of a good church in the area. God Bless Mike

We must remember that Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship with Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are born again into the family of God. God is holy, and there is no sin in him. So as his children we must be holy. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, and we must confess our sin so that we can be cleansed of all unrighteousness. We are to fellowship with other believers, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin. So go to a church that teaches the blood atonement and fellowship with the people of God.

    TO MIKE
I was born in comunism so I am not baptised at all. When the comunism failed I was about 20 years and I decided to baptise. This is where my search began. Last 15 years I am reading a lot about religion in general. In that reading I noticed that among all religions I am interested only in Christianity, so I was founded with knowledge but I was not ready spiritualy to accept Jesus Christ. Finally that happened 3 years ago. But another problem occured. I can not accept the dogma of any kind. I can not say AMEN (very strong word) to something I do not believe. For instance, episode about walking on the water. When I red that I was thinking for days, and then Jesus explained me for good what the faith is. I was happy. In the Baptist church they saw that episode on totaly different way (just another miracle of Jesus).
Speaking in the tongues(I was present once) made me think about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. I knew for sure that old man was honest with whole his being, but also I knew that I can not say AMEN to something I do not understand. And also that what he did is not in line with the Bible.
So I decided to go alone, i.e. by definition it is a gnostic.
So, now when (I hope) you understand my position, try to give me the answer.
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.
P.S. In the Orthodox Church, which is my natural environment, you can find a true believers but the Church has an unofficial policy to avoid the Holy Bible.
Another small question. When you read the Bible do you use a references that author put beside a verse.
    P.P.S.
(I have the University degree in techical sciencies, if the fact will help you to make the picture more clear).
  • Mike on 1 John 1 - 12 years ago
(Bane's) To make sure I am able to answer your question the best I can. Could you answer a question for me. You have refered to an orthodox enviroment, Baptist Church friends, and ten other friends which are wondering also about baptism in the Holy Spirit. What church are you going to, or under which religous group were you converted? This will help me understand your question much better.
    God Bless Mike
  • Bane on 1 John 1 - 12 years ago
Mike, you are a good man and thank you again. I thnik you did not understand my question. I was a good friend with some people from the Baptist Church. Even they spent a whole life in the church or converted a long time ago some of them are baptised with the Holy Spirit and some are not. As a matter of fact I saw only two old people who claim that are baptised this way. At least ten of my friends there were not sure what it is.
I have many questions for you. GOD BLESS YOU
  • Mike on 1 John 1 - 12 years ago
Bane's--In the book of John Jesus is talking to Nichodemas about rebirth. When you are "Born Again" You have personally accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. God gives you the Holy Spirit to live inside you. To guide or lead you in your christian walk. God tells us he will never leave us or forsake us. The Holy Spirit is with you until God takes you home to heaven or you die and go to heaven. To be Baptised in the Spirit simply put is the very moment you except Christ as Savior-The Holy Spirit enters you-He indwells you. Many people try to confuse things with Salvation. For example, You are a new convert! God tells us there are 3 things we should follow in our lives. 1) Salvation 2) Baptism (The act of obedience showing others you have accepted Christ 3) Join a local church and learn more about what you have just done & what God wants you to do. The bible should always be our guide for life. By the way I am in Oklahoma and spent many years in Europe. God Bless and good reading. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I will be glad to answer and give bible referances for and answers if you wish. Gods guidance not mans--you can never go wrong--God dose use men for his work and many times to help brother in need of guidance. I have been saved sence 1981.

Mike I forgot something. Because you are a church member do you know or have experience what is it baptism with Holy Spirit.
  • Bane on 1 John 1 - 12 years ago
Believe me or not a minute ago I was prepared to ask where is The Kingdom of God. I read your comment but I am not responding to argue but to THANK YOU because you noticed what I had to say. I have a respect for that kind of people. I am some kind of convert and practicaly beginer.
Next time I will answer why I lean myself to the wisdom of people (not all people).
Best wishes from Serbia and GOD BLESS YOU
P.S. Because English is not my mother tongue please try to use sentences for a bit more simple.

(Bane's)You are correct, God is mighty. But God has given us so much more than what you have found. The second generation christians did not loose the "Good News" (Gospel) but have through the generations been carring the tourch "Light of the Gospel". Gods focus for man has been his Son Jesus Christ. The bible shows him as the Light, Trurt, Way, Life, Sacrifice, and Sinless before God the Father. He humbled himself to take sin on his shoulders dieing sinful man on the cross of calvery. No matter what our upbringing or denominational belief Gods word has not changed. John 3:16 shows the depth of Gods love for sinful men. John 3:17-18 shows our nature before a rightous God. Knowing that God is-is not enough, Knowing that Jesus is-is not enough, Beliving and accepting personnally what God has done through his Son Jesus Christ--Admitting you are a sinner, Beliving Jesus died for your sins, Confessing those sins and taking the free gift of salvation making Him Lord and master in your life is salvation and the one thing God has for all men. Luke tells us Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost. Gods Holy Spirit indwells the beliver and fellowship with God Almighty is established through Jesus Christ Hie Son. This fellowship is eternal. Gods kingdom will come phisically as it comes spiritually. Both come literally! Study to show thyself approved of God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly deviding the word of truth. If you search Gods word with an open heart calling upon Him for the truth-He will answer. If we lean on the wisdom of men and thier teaching you will fall short of Gods truth. Do not take me for what I say, Rather Prove me wrong in the King James Bible! I do understand what you have related in word. Search a little deeper in the Word. Try reading the book of John... Gods truth will set you free. I myself grew up in a church that knew the truth but never challanged me to live Gods truth. I now go to a church that knows the truth and acts upon the truth. So I am challanged to live a life glorifying to God. (Gods standard not mans) I am not perfect but God is working on and through my life. What a differance this makes for me!!

This site BIBLE COMMENTS is my confession room. I live in an orthodox environment where people simply do not understand what I am talking if they want to listen at all. I must say that I have no other problems. I am a Christian and I believe in God or better I know that God exists although I know nothing about him except He is Almighty.
Without intention to disturb anybody faith I noticed that many people speak about believing and salvation. The point is in the Kingdom of God. The word Gospel originally means “joyful news: the Kingdom of God is just to come”. In the second generation of Christians it lost its originally meaning.
When asked Jesus where is that kingdom he said: ”It is not in the sky.., it is not in the sea.. IT IS IN YOU AND AMONG YOU.” So our (or my) goal is here and we have to reach it. As I see it is the goal you chase but you never reach. But the life is in that chasing.
GOD WE SEEK FOR YOUR KINGDOM AND YOUR JUSTICE, AND THE ELSE WILL BE ADDED

Though 1John 1:9 is many times used as a salvation scripture, it is written to belivers and we all (saved or unsaved) have a sin nature which we will fight until eternity comes. What I think has no bearing on what Gods word says. It is infact what God says. To many people place thier wisdom in what other people have said or written. Study to show thyself apporved of God! I personaly am glad my salvation is not resting in a man but rather in the hands of God and his promise. 1John assures the christian will take a reality check of his life. Judge youself--Don't lie to yourself. Sinners we will be until God calles us home to heaven. God knows us better than we admit at times. How would we have fellowship with a Holy God after salvation if not for 1 John 1:9 ? In sin we are unable to have that fellowship let alone fellowship with other Christians. Try the Spirit, Study in context, Seek and ye shall find! We should not do a lot of things in life--But when you do where do you go? Blindly living on or the Bema seat of Christ?

That "Word" which the Apostle John referred to was the (Shakinah)the Alpha glorious being(or) self expression of the invisible Deity in celestial form, (I AM self existent) who was incarnated in flesh, to be revealed in the Sonship of the Godhead. Notice! that before then" never in the Bible was he ever, referred to as so; except prophetically in the Psalms. John simply referred to him as that eternal life! which was with the father See Hebrews 1:1..8__Rev 21:1..7 Rev 22:1.16 1 Corinthians 15:20..57 1 Timothy 3:16

I disagree with the people who says we all siners because we are living in sinfull world. Romans 3:24 it says we are being justified freely from sin by his grace through the redemption that is in christ jesus. We have sin because Adam and Eve,but bible says if we confirs our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins.God have mercy and his mercy,The reason he sent his only son is that we must repent,Jesus came for us to be saved.may God help us. from sidwell

Who can claim to be a sinless person while still living in this sinful world? God's eternal word declares that we have all (including Pastor, Bishop, Clerg, Papa,Elder, Reverand & church member) have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

This is the whole truth from Paul! We are have sinned the law demand that a sinner must die but praise be to God we are justified by Jesus christ who tells us to go proudly to the thrown of Grace that we might recieve mercy to help us in our times of need.

    1 John 1
The Word of God which was from the beginning with God and is God, was made known to us in the flesh. John said that what we have heard, seen, looked upon and handled is the Word of Life.
For the life was made known to us, from the Father; that what we have seen and heard was declared to you that we may have fellowship with you also; because truly we can fellowship together with you because we are one with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. John tells us that we can have joy by knowing the truth and that our joy may be full. This then is the message from John that he declares to us; that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we do not walk in darkness but walk in the light then we can have fellowship with God and with one another, because we are then Cleansed from sin being washed in the blood of Jesus Christ.
