Therefore the world knoweth us not because it new Him not.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.!
  • Paul Okoro on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
The word of God is so clear about what true holiness and righteousness really is. As we are clearly thought in these verses, the true children of God are those that are practicing both righteousness and love at the same time. But unfortunately many bible teachers and preachers have always emphasized righteouness without love. Some others emphasize love without righteousness. These are wrong teachings that can't guaranty entrance to heaven for anyone. To be able to see God and our lord Jesus at the end of time, we must practice the type of righteousness that goes with love.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, for His seed remaineth in Him and he cannot sin because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest and the children of the devil.
  • Michael C. on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Dear one; Looking back to long ago earlier times; I see now so many things I didn't see then; and frankly (thank the Lord!) I couldn't see. It took a hard and shameful turn for the worst at a certain point: I can never express my shame and regret sufficiently for that disaster. But the Lord did not kill me outright, instead my day came for repentance and true conversion, and now He's given me all!
  • Michael C. on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Written probably from Ephesus about 96 AD; John the Apostle by that time, was a very deeply taught, well refined and mature man of God; mightily filled with the Holy Spirit, and his words full of the expression of God's thoughts, and not one of them falling to the ground. We should long to know the Lord like John did, and like all our heroes in the Bible. We are, after all, who they wrote for!

    Amen, and thank you, Jesus.

No matter what our hearts condemn us in, God is greater than our feelings and our hearts.
  • MockingBird on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
There have been a time or 2 and then some when I was so overwhelmed with sorrow from a sin I had done I thought there was no way God would forgive me or that I could get back up again and serve Him with a pure heart !!!As I grew in the Lord I found God is very forgiving and He helps me to get back in line with Him not to do that thing again and if I do God is Greater than my heart and knoweth all things. I get restored !!!! I learn and know my Lord God as I grow. He does not expect us to know everything when we are still babes and growing. I desire the sincere milk of the word.
  • Lilian on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
For God is love no condemnations if we abide Jesus and his words into our hearts thru his words he purifies our hearts coz even his own words are pure and purifies 7 times. No one is greater on this earth its only Jesus by his blood he destroy the works of the defeated devil. It is his will to save us, bless us and heal us.Jesus hears our prayers and answers when we praise him and worship him amen

  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
John is addressing this letter to the sons of God, who he calls beloved vv.1-2. Urging them to purify themselves in Christ. According to their hope in Christ. In purifying themselves, and walking in Christ's power, they will know, in their hearts, they are right with God. No condemnation.
  • Bro William on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
...Unless your heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. "Wherein have I sinned?" There is condemnation of those who walk in darkness who say they know God according to their senses. Although their heart condemns them not. LORD, LORD! OPEN UNTO US! "DEPART FROM ME INTO EVERLASTING DARKNESS, "where the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth".
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
And v. 21. If our heart doesnt condemn us, then we have confidence toward God. Isn't that great!!!
  • BSP on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Verse 20 shows that no matter what we feel about ourselves, God is greater than our hearts and knows all things.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the SIN of the world.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
To repent is not saying time and again I' m sorry and then going out and sinning some more. Repentance is realizing you are a sinner and asking for the Lord's forgiveness. And from that time living in Jesus's power. A changed new creature in Christ. 2 cor.5:17. Romans 6 chapter. Power over sin. Sin shall not have dominion over you.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
The soul that sinneth it shall surely die. Be ye holy as I am Holy.verse 6. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not. Whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known. Verse 8. He that committeth sin is of the devil. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil.
  • Teresa on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
We are still sinners. No one is without sin. That is why we repent asking for forgiveness. God knows all things. If you think you can live without being a sinner you are a hypocrite! I believe this chapter is telling us not to shut up our bowels of compassion for each other. The key is love and compassion. It's also not about giving others their needs of the flesh.

  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 8 years ago
Each born again believer is to live above and without sin. The whole chapter is a sinless life if one is born again. He states we are to purify ourselves in Christ. He states this also in chapters 1
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
Ben, the whole reading is to show love to the brethren in physical works. Not just saying I love the brethren but to share with those in need with our abundance. Verse 17 states this. One whose has plenty is to relieve the need of another. To God this is a perfect fit. Before salvation, we are sinners. God is sinless. So we, in our need, ask God for his relieve for our sinfulness.
  • Lu2677 on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
    V. 18; Wholesome words are important. Many people speak words of love but there are no deeds of love. What this does is expose them, they are not in the truth. Jesus is the way the truth and the life.
  • Ben Redding on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
Why do you suppose in vs 18 he says both Love not in word and tongue as a word has to come from the tongue?
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
People have been taught and are still being taught that 'the flesh' counts for something. It does not. Make no provision for the flesh. Jesus condemned sin in the flesh for us. The veil has been done away in Christ. Whether knowledge of the doctrine of truth is from seeking diligently or is a revelation of God....I don't know. I tend to think it is both. HIS eyes seek someone to bless!
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
So then vv. 6 and 8-9 are correct. So then church people who believe they can sin in the morning and "repent" all night are kind of living with a veil over their eyes, so to speak. They apparently do not want to proceed further into Christ. Or are following a false teacher- leader.
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 9 years ago
So glad Wayne tucker knows the truth. But it is not a matter of persuasion, but a matter of faith. One needs to believe that he may see! While we WERE yet sinners, Christ died for us. How can we, being dead to sin, live any longer therein? Now being made FREE from sin, we become servants of righteousness! Holy to the LORD! HOW ABUNDANT IS THAT!!!
