The comment regarding the "sons of God" is one sided. While it is true that Hebrews states that God does not call any of the angels His son, we cannot but acknowledge that Job 1 and 2 reveals that the sons of God presented themselves before Him. Who were these beings? They cannot be men. There can be no conflict of Scripture here, therefore the use of the term must be different in the Testaments. If there is a conflict, it is always going to be with our own notions rather than God's inerrant Word.

If you look closely.in Genesis,it says let us make man in our image..then shortly after it says God made Adam, and breathed life into him..That kinda had me too when I first really read it..God has a people. But I don't think all are for the purpose of personal salvation.some wood for the fire and some the silver being purified.keep seeking his wisdom and he's going to show you many things I would hope.Bless you

No human has ever seen God. We have no idea what God looks like and so nobody is able to describe what he looks like.
  • Juliette on 1 John 4 - 6 years ago
I like 1st John 4:18. Perfect love casts out all fear. Not some fear but all fear. Not just love but perfect love. Perfect meaning complete and whole.
  • A disciple on 1 John 4 - 6 years ago
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." What makes people not love their neighbor or even their brother or sister in the Lord? If we are to love one another as Christ has loved us, then we must have the same character, nature and Spirit as Christ. Jesus said, that not understanding His speech is because of not being able to hear His word. That implies the need for a new creation, and having completely abandoned the old! That means a penitent and converted heart that henceforth longs for God and seeks His mercy, acceptance and blessing, and a mind no longer completely enthralled with self or the letcheries of its former life but being born anew, born from above, born of the Word and of the Spirit, TO BE THE CHILDREN, THE REPLICATIONS OF GOD! By this we know that we know God and keep His commandments, BECAUSE WE LOVE THE BRETHREN!

Has no man seen God? Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
  • Joan on 1 John 4 - 6 years ago
We must believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ suffered bleed and died for our sins and must confess it with our mouth than we are saved from our sins. There is one GOD, one FAITH and one Baptism. There is no other god but JESUS. No other God but Jesus can offer eternal life. Jesus died for our sins and we have been bought with a price. If you don't believe just fall on your knees and say Jesus!

1 John 4 vs 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Dont agree with angies comment, they know Jesus came in the flesh as Jesus, but do they know he was and is God himself when he came. Also the other comment about as long as they believe that Jesus came in the flesh is of God no matter thier religious belief. Budda cant believe this and others like him cannot believe what they believe and believe that Jesus is God i strongly disagree.

Knowing that greater is HE that is in me bring a sense of power in my life. It means that I am one with GOD and Jesus thru the Holy Spirit.

Dear friend, don't be discouraged; the Lord has much to say to us, but we are not able to bear it just now. He waits for our growth and maturity. You can't start pulling up a little sprout, to make it grow faster; you have to wait for it. It takes precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little and there a little; until Christ's character is formed in us.

2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sins, and heal their land.

Fredscanlan,You ask"where is this love he speaks of?" answer is in His Word. Romans 11:36"For of him, and through him, and to him are all things, to whom be glory forever." ALL THINGS. Ecc.8:5, Ecc.9:3, Luke 6:45, etc.Seek God He is Love!
After he saved me this is one of the 1st verse that he gave me understanding of, Romans 11:36. And Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Amen

There is some truth to the old adage, "Familiarity breeds contempt". I find it much easier to love most people in short bursts, from a distance, or while they're quiet or sleeping. Considering that love is provoked, I suggest we work on being more lovable. I also find prayer and meditation to help.

Every comment on the page following 1john4 was more of a complete and total judgement.Maddens critical Which pedestal of religion are you on. If you want to judge throw the rocks at yourself. The truth is the truth. Everyone sins. No one's better than anyone else. Segregation in religions start like that. You represent God by criticizing Him!
  • Lilian on 1 John 4 - 7 years ago
There is no fear in love. But perfect love casteth out of fear. Because fear have torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. Thank you Jesus for loving us. We've love because you first love us Amen

John 20:24-29 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.25The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.26And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.27Then saith he to Thomas,Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands and reach hither thy hand, and thrust itinto my side: and be not faithless, but believing.28And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.29Jesus saith unto him,Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
  • Diane on 1 John 4 - 7 years ago
Of course it's true that no one has "seen" God. Moses and Elijah came closest to "seeing" God
  • BSp on 1 John 4 - 7 years ago
No man has seen God face to face. This scripture confirms that fact.
  • Lilian on 1 John 4 - 7 years ago
