The analyses mentioned are very good but none speak about the wording of the passage, in particular the use of the word 'whatsoever' which denotes anything ranging from human beings to animals. Could someone shed a little light on the usage of the word please?
  • James English on 1 John 5:7 - 9 years ago
I still see so many differences on the question as to who is the father of Jesus. If he was born in in the same manner as everyone else. The virgin Mary by being the mother by immaculete conception issue still leaves the question open.
  • Joyce Ballentine on 1 John 5 - 9 years ago
JESUS WHO SAID THESE POWERFUL WORDS, WARNED THE DISCIPLES THAT THE WORLD WILL HATE THEM NOW FOR FOLLOWING HIM! THE DISCIPLES FORSOOK THEIR WILL TO BE IN THE LORD'S WILL NOT REALLY KNOWING WHAT THEY WAS GETTING THEMSELVES INTO! WHEN WE ACCEPTED JESUS IN OUR LIFE, WE DID NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND THE OPPOSITION THAT WE HAD TO COME UP AGAINST! PEOPLE WILL HATE U OR BE JEALOUS OF U FOR HAVING JOY WHEN EVERYBODY ELSE IS UNHAPPY CAUSE THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH! JESUS HAS THE GREATEST LOVE THAT EVER CAME ON EARTH, BUT WENT THROUGH THE MOST HATRED CAUSE HE STOOD ON THE TRUTH ALL THE WAY! WE AS BELIEVERS MUST GET PAST OUR FEELINGS AND LIVE IN THE SPIRIT IF WE WANT TO STAND IN THESE LAST AND EVIL DAYS! JOHN 4:24 SAYS THAT GOD IS A SPIRIT, THEY THAT WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH! I RATHER STAND ON THE TRUTH NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE HATE ME CAUSE JESUS GAVE ME A NEW HEART AND MIND! WITHOUT JESUS I AM NOTHING! AMEN! GLORY BE TO GOD!!

These passages shows the holy trinity one god, in the persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This Holy Spirit represent the living presence of god that tells us the wisdom of God in His Divinity. Correct me if I had emphasized the true personality of the Holy Spirit which is now very much alived in the church.
  • Julian on 1 John 5:7 - 9 years ago
The Holy Trinity is in the very centre of our Christian faith. In this verse, we learn that there is one God "these three are one" , in three divine persons "the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost" . The Father, who sends His only-begotten Son to the world for our salvation. The Word cf. St. John 1:1 : that is, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who is truly God and truly man. He took upon himself the human flesh, so that in the flesh He might suffer for us the cruel death on the Cross, by which we are saved. The Holy Ghost, who is the giver of life, and proceeds from the Father and the Son. This is a great mystery of our faith, that we can meditate upon day after day.

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly but then face to face: now I know in part but then shall I know even as also I am known. It seems better to say that one doesn 't know totally then to join a doctrinal bandwagon and lead others astray because they want to belong and some are very susceptible to questionable doctrine and sometimes are put into bondage because of that questionable doctrine. The Truth will set us Free! John 8:32 KJV

  • Johnson Ekong on 1 John 5:3 - 9 years ago
For this is the love of God: This is the kind of love that God desire of us our entire day-by-day life must be molded by the commandments of God 2 John 1:6. That we keep his commandments: The commandments of God as delineated in Exodus 20:3-17 must be the defining standard of our lives and we must adhere totally to it, for it is the only litmus test of determining whether we are Christians or not. According to James 2:10, if we are err in any of it, then we are guilty of all. A lawyer of the Pharisees extraction once ask Christ a tempting question Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus answered him by summarizing the content of the two tables of stones that Moses collected from God thus: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. He when further to add that And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:35-39. The phrase, the second is like unto it signifies that Exodus 20:3-11 which spells our relationship with God cannot be complete without Exodus 20:12-17 which spells our relationship with our neighbour. We cannot claim to love God if we don t love our brother whom we are seeing 1 John 4:20-21.

There is only one mediator between man and God is only Jesus the Son of the Living God whoever believes in him will not be perish but have eternal life. There is no other above name its only Jesus because of his perfect obedience to the Father, God crowned him and seated at the right hand of the Father. Jesus will pray for us to the Father if we ask Jesus and believe him that he can do for us. God is a promising and loving God, he is God that never fail us nor forsake us. He is faithful to his promises that goodness and mercy is always follow us. there is no much to say about 1 John 5:5, the scripture it self says it all, if we have faith that Jesus is the Son of Jehovah God we will overcome all the things that Satan puts in our way, it is NOT only believing in Jesus as our saviour, it is believing that Jesus is the Son of God the almighty Jehovah!!!

Could the "sin unto death " be the one referred to in Mark 3:29 "whosoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, they are guilty of eternal sin. "
  • Patrick Kobia on 1 John 5:18 - 9 years ago
Those who are born again of the uncorruptible seed the word of God 1Peter1:23 sin not. This is because they were crucified with Christ though they are alive,it is no longer them but Christ who lives in them. Gat2:20. Therefore, Christ cannot sin.

  • John on 1 John 5:7 - 9 years ago
1 John 5:7 as it appears in the KJV and the NKJV referring to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and also as it appears in the other versions, without reference to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, does not alter the fact that Jesus told his disciples to baptise people in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit the triune God . Similarly , it does not alter the statements made by Jesus concerning the fact that He and the Father are one, and, for example, that he who has seen the Son has seen the Father. Furthermore, the prophecy in Isaiah referers to Jesus as Emmanuel, or "God with us. " Also, in Genesis, for example, God is quoted as referring to Himself as "Us. " There are many other Biblical references that pass the test of God being God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, without necessarily using the word "trinity. " It would be wise therefore, not to dare to cause believers to doubt the truth about the triune God, and not lead those searching for the truth astray.

Surender,Itis my understanding that the "sin not unto death " is the one we recognize, acknowledge, repent of and let go of...
  • ERICA on 1 John 5 - 9 years ago
I believe that 16-17 is actually referring to a Christian because we can call each other as Christians "brother " or "sister " in Christ. The Bible speaks on a person willfully sinning even after receiving Salvation. We know that if we are saved yet continue to sin willfully, eventually with an unrepentant heart, you WILL BE turned over to a reprobated mind due to the HARDNESS of one 's heart. I believe it is talking about a spiritual disconnection to God. Remember verses 4-5 of this same chapter. May God bless whoever reads this and get an understand. God is a God of deliverance. Living for Him is really and is to be taken SERIOUSLY
  • Ron L. Kuykendall on 1 John 5 - 9 years ago
We should pray for others, as well as for ourselves, beseeching the Lord to pardon and recover the fallen, as well as to relieve the tempted and afflicted. And let us be truly thankful that no sin, of which any one truly repents, is unto death.
