God is always Good, and he wants the best for us all his children,if only we walk in the light of his word n in the mind of his spirit,he will builld us up n grant us life eternal with him n give us a Peace that passeth all understanding.
This passage teaches some lessons:
1. He that exalts himself shall be abased-v.5. Adonijah exalted himself forgetting that legitimacy comes only through appointment by the appropriate authority-David.
2. David failed as a parent in the upbringing of Adonijah. He never corrected/rebuked him over any matter at all-v.6.
3. Decisiveness. David made sure Solomon was anointed king that same date.
Lesson learnt: When it is God that enthrone you and not men the earth will rent with the sound, your voice will be heard and your authority will be felt by all men. Wait for God to enthrone you.
Gbenga, I think not. Romans 14:5 says, Let Everyman be fully persuaded in his own mind. Nathan had a pure heart therefore Adonijah and Joab knew that so he was not invited to the illegal crowning of Adonijah. Glory be to God in the highest through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ amen!
The Lord had long ordained Solomon to be king, over Israel and Judah. The lesson learnt is: on your journey to becoming your purpose, the devil will attempt to hinder your success, by putting his own people in your way, attempting to rob you of your right as a child of God, however, you must contact the correct authority,God, and he'll clarify the situation for you.
1 Kings is a example of not waiting on the lord. Many christians today, who believe in the free will gospel do the same thing. They assume they are saved by the work of believing, when they need to wait on the lord, to do the work of salvation, in there lives. It didnt work for Adonijah and it wont work for anyone else.
This was a conspiracy for supremacy by a brother who by all norms and practice of the day being the eldest, felt that the thrown of David his father should have been his. Instead of waiting on the appointment he ran ahead of his destiny and appointed himself becoming a King without a thrown. Never run ahead of God.
Louella R Jones in the bible to know means to have sex with the woman when the man and woman are in an intimate setting King David was really old and his body was past its ability to have intimate relations because he was really old
It is not mentioned in the bible that King David said those words...King David was old and Nathan the prophet took advantage of that by giving counsel to Bath-sheba about her life and her son's life.. Solomon...Chileab was the next of kin to be the king, for Amnon and Absalom where dead...but they where born in Hebron...Solomon was born in Jerusalem... bottom line...it was God's purpose for Solomon to be King..
If God says yes, no one can say no. God said yes to Solomon, even though Adonijah tried to take away Solomon's blessings, God never allowed it. Praise God.
We must keep in mind there is so much God is showing us here, but the turn point to the chapter is the promise that was made to a woman, whose life was turned upside down, but God showed his victory in the end. WE ALL ARE SOMEBODY IN GOD, THROUGH CHRIST JESUS.
I agree with Christopher, whatever God has for you is for you. Others make try to block us but only we can stop ourselves from getting what God has promised.

He ALONE has the final say.
As xtians lets live christlike, not Christianity made easy. This fad will pass.
He sees the heart, weighs actions/inactions. He rewards...
