This chapter is telling us that all earthly things is not worth losing your soul. we will have plenty of joy, peace and love when we get to heaven So we have to keep our eyes on the prize of the high calling of Jesus Christ our Lord.
The results were god was angry at him but he didnt destroy him .his appering before soloman you would think would be enough to convince him that he was called out to be his servant .what will it take for god to convince some of his sovereignty..
He made his bed and had to lay in it for a season anyways.the bed of thorns would soon be his way of seeing he was wrong .and needed his heart turned back to god fully
Soloman did not lusten to the lord he disobeyed his commands.he set up idols in his heart and they caused him to not walk with god .his heart was turned back from following the lord its a lesson we should learn from..
Well put Mr. Powlett. Everton, God 's Word doesn 't lie nor does it change. King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. The problem with man today is that if his mind can 't comprehend something then it can 't be. Please know we can 't understand all things now but once the veil is removed we will see so much clearer. For now, we must act and exist on our tremendous Faith and of course the Word. May God be with you.
Sad to see a man anointed by God and blessed by God, talked to by God twice specifically, warned by God about this matter ended up the way he did. this tells me that christians need to understand why we must be consecrated totally to God. All that Solomon did is compromised by his actions and will lead others to believe that we cannot live all our days in the care of God. Yet i do not live by this betrayal of Solomon because 1 John 4 v 4 states that greater is he that is with in us than he that is in the world. I know that i can live above sin because of what Christ have done and through the indwelling spirit. i know that what Jesus Christ have done is too much to set aside for something that will tarnish my testimony and hurt my God. I know that others have made these comments but when i see that Daniel and Joseph did not have what i have, i am empowered that to be faithful to God, and desire to hear when i stand before Him well done thou good and faithful servant. The remainder of this verse is not important to me because i want to please God. does this mean that i will never sin or have never sin, No, but the word of God says that let not fornication be once mention about us. We have the power to live above sin.
This chapter is a bit confusing I guess, but Solomon did great things in the sight of the Lord until he probably got way too comfortable having an abundance of blessings from God and in the World. He had 700 wives and God told him not to go into them which is not specified if he did or not, but all the women were able to turn him away from God and his anger was kindles because he chased them instead of chasing God.
Solomon was extremely blessed by Almighty God. Solomon disobeyed God by going after other forms of god, and allowed his flesh to turn his heart from God. The Lord is God and there is none else.
We must learn to abide in the things of God,evin if we are greatly honoured let us honour what the Lord says above all pray for ur relationship with God
This verse shows that we have to be careful about whom we chose to associate with because if they do not have love for Jehovah God they could turn our hearts away from him. Solomon allowed his many wives to turn him away from serving Jehovah with a complete heart.
It is a sad thing when you read comments and see people blaming women for man's downfall. The downfall of Solomon had to do with disobedience. When men of God go after women, God was not as angry as when they went after the women that God specifically told them not to do. Man has a lust for things, including women that they are forbidden to go after. It happens even today. A man is married and should be to the one he made the oath with but he continues to disobey God and go after other women, prostitutes etc. Wife being a woman is not his downfall but the other women that he goes after. Once more it is man and lust for what he should not have.
The natural consequence that comes to those who depart from the way of the Lord is that they are left to their own strength. While in the heat of our success we might assume that our own strength is sufficient; those who rely upon the arm of the flesh soon discover how weak and unreliable it truly is. For example, Solomon at first, obeyed the Lord and honored His law. Because of this, he prospered and was blessed not only with wisdom but with wealth and honor. If he continued in righteousness, the Lord promised to “establish the throne of [his] kingdom upon Israel forever”. But even after heavenly visitations, even after receiving blessings above all men, Solomon turned away from the Lord. So was his brain and after all the wisdom he had, went from right to wrong.
the word Ashtoreth translated from Hebrew to Greek & again into English is our word & hoiday ''easter''. Do a history study on this foreign goddess & you'll find out why the Passover & the Resurection of our Lord got mixed up w/ bunnies & baskets.
Regardless to how close you walk with God, you still have the potential to fall from grace. We see this clearly in David's life and his son Solomon. The solution is to repent when you mess up.
@ Ralph M: I can see what your saying but i think it was Solomon's love of "strange" women. Women who were outside the of Judah and women who were not even from Israel.
The seed of David (JESUS the Christ) aflicted for our sins (Isaih 53). The Christ suffered unto death but not forever, because He rose up from the dead on the 3rd day. I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever. The New American Standard Version cannot be correct because it translate seed to descendants. It is not seeds but it is seed.
FOR STARTERS: NOT TO BE HARSH BUT TRUTHFUL, ONCE AGAIN, WOMEN IS THE DOWNFALL OF MANKIND. IT WAS ONCE AGAIN THE WOMEN WHO ALLURES MAN INTO TEMPTATION; AND THE WEAKNESS OF MAN TO FOLLOW. SEVERAL TIMES GOD SHOWS COMPASSION OVER DAVID; DAVID COMMITTED MURDER AND ADULTERY; YET GOD STATES DAVID FOLLOWED HIS COMMANDMENTS. DAVID WAS CHOSEN, NOT SAYING HE COULD DO NO WRONGE, BUT "CHOSEN", GOD, BEING ALL KNOWING, KNOWS, OUR SHORTCOMINGS, "HE", KNOWS OUR WEAKNESS. THEREFORE, WE MUST NOT GIVE UP HAVING FAITH IN A MERCIFUL GOD, OVER OUR SHORTCOMINGS AND CONTINUE TO STRIVE FOR THE MARK IN CHRIST JESUS. THERE IS ONLY ONE JUDGE, AND ITS NOT OURSELVES. WE MUST NOT GIVE IN TO SATAN AND SAY" I DO THIS, AND I DO THAT" GOD KNOWS ALL YOU DO. HE FORGAVE DAVID, AND HE WILL FORGIVE YOU.
Couldn't have been me!!!!! To see the glor of the Lord manifest, and keep you through many battles...just to turn your back on him?!?! it's crazy!!! They certainly were a stiff necked people, to go whoring after other false Gods, when you have the actual commandments right in the Lord's house....which you built, it is ridiculous!
