Irene: When someone misquotes Scripture, it helps no One. The Lord said: But seek ye first The Kingdom of God,and His Righteous;and all these things will be added unto you./her post is "Poison in The Soup" Satan loves the misuse of scripture. The Lame, The Sick,The Unknowing will take the wrong path by such quotes./ Only by The Blood of The Lamb is there Salvation:Revelation1:5 / Mark 1:8 Baptized
Bruce - Hi; how are you ... ? The question you asked Marta 3 mos. ago about TWO scriptures. the 1st part was from Deut. 6:5; the 2nd from Matt 6:33. I'm sure you knew that ...? You're not ignorant of the scriptures. She rather gave it as one scripture, but she didn't intend it that way.
1 Pet. 3:15 -" ..... and be ready always to give an answer to every man ..... "; when I witness, whether in writing or face to face, I want to do as this v. says. " ... the REASON for the HOPE ... "; God's Marvelous Mercy, in that He saved me. I pray for the Lord Jesus to lead me to those in need. No arguing, no trying to get MY point across, just my testimony of His great Mercy.
I wonder how verses 1-6 are NOT taught to our women here in the West! What a beautiful and edifying thing it is, to know and understand, and practice, ALL THAT GOD HAS COMMANDED AND MADE! God has made everything in His wisdom and knowledge, very good; and it is our greatest comfort and joy and glory, to be perfect in the character and nature that He made us to be. Remember the iniquity of Satan!
1 Pet. 3:15 - "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts ..... "; the word 'sanctify' tripped me up - until I asked an elder about it. I had always read or heard that God sanctified us; how could we sanctify Him? By setting Him apart in our daily walk. He sets us apart to Himself from the world, we set Him apart in our lives, how we live holily for Him, in His will.
In fact the Bible interpretation comes only from the Father our God Peter just want to state that that Jesus Christ preached also to the dead during the three days death before the resurrection those dead from the time of Adam till the day of crucification
To Lestie o 1 Peter ch.3 - This is only for your info'; it's not condemnation; 1 Peter 3:20-21; Jn. 3:5; 2 Pet. 3:16; Jas. 1:22-23; 2:17-18,24-26; Acts 2:38; 8:39; Mk.1:10; Matt. 3:16.
Note: the last 2 are the words of Jesus.
Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, and spirit, then all these things will be added unto you. Then we can all speak in love and kindnesses towards each other in whatsoever man may ask of us
To sanctify the Lord God in your heart is to set apart : I must alway be ready at any given moment to give a answer to any one or any thing of the hope that is within me : Meekness is an awareness of the presence of God within and subject to Holy Spirit leading in the fear of God : Holy Spirit will give me in that hour what I ought to speak !!
Baptism is an outward expression of our faith but it is not required for salvation. If it were, then our Salvation would be based on works. Seventh Day Adventists and other denominations teach that baptism is required for salvation in error.
Bill, thank you for caution and your study in his word. The baptism is that of the Spirit received when you asked the Lord for forgiveness. Not of water. Matthew 3:11. Your life will be changed, ll Corinthians 5:17!
Except a man be BORN OF WATER AND IN SPIRIT he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. By baptism we have accepted God to renew and cleanse our Spirit and be born again in spirit and not in the flesh. But Obedience to God's words are more important than sacrifice . let's give thanks to the blood of Jesus and worship him alone for he is worthy. I will trust in the Lord in him there is no darkness
I am going to very soon be a Bible study assistant(and sometimes) teacher, and in our class we are going to be discussing our denominations catechism and they interpret v.21 to mean we are saved by baptism. I cant in good conscience say that, because after a careful study of Scripture and greek concordances I dont believe that is the correct context. does anyone have any insight or offer advice.
Verse.18 20:The passage does not teach that Christ went and preach to some imprisoned spirit in hades. It is saying that Christ was put to death in the flesh he died like all humans die ,but made alive by the Spirit. This means he died and was raise do life by the Holy Spirit, Rom.8:11 .Through whom that same Spirit he Jesus went and preach to the spirit in prison. So it was the Holy Spirit that did the preaching. But who are this spirit in prison?? They are simply the sinners who disobeyed God in Noah's day.In the Bible sinners are seen to be in Prison. Isaiah 42:7,61:1 . The Holy Spirit also the Spirit of Christ preached through Noah to those disobedient spirit. It shoul b noted that the Holy Spirit had been preaching in the past, present and will continue to preach through Holy Men of God. 2nd Peter 1:20 21 .Eph.2:17 says "Jesus came and preached peace to the Jews and gentiles".Jesus personaly ddnt preach to the gentiles.Rather the Holy Spirit which is His Spirit spoke through holy men of God.So the entire pasage simply means that Christ, through the His Spirit in Noah preached to those peoples who were under the bondage of Sin.Again it has a connection with His ascension and the pouring of the Spirit when He through His Spirit in Holy men preached to both the Jews and Gentiles. The passage can never mean Christ preached while He was dead to dead spirit in Noah's time. For it would contradict with what the Hebrew writer wrote"After death comes Judgement".There is no 2nd chance.
Between the time of Christ 's death and resurrection, Christ 's spirit was in the heart of the earth,to get the key of Hades, and to preach to the spirits of men in there. Since the devil never repent, the preaching was for men. I hope and pray that view 2 is right.I hope that those who have not heard of the Gospel or have not understand it will still receive a second chance to understand and accept salvation from God. Hell was made for the devils.
