What really stands out to me is the call and not before the timing. Then he is to get his mind ready when it does come.

I think Saul didn't fully get it that he was really going to be king.everything was happening so fast for him. I guess he was just playing wait and see. God bless you

    To Doris Crews

For the same reason he hid himself amongst the stuff. He was overwhelmed and scared and by right he should be. Imagine being placed in charge to lead God's people in times of war when you have seen what happened to the kings of the other nations. A king has to die before a nation is conquered. The first is always a sacrifice for the greater. Example of this can be seen with Adam and with Jesus. Look and see what these two are the first of. God bless you

Why didn't Saul tell his uncle that he was anointed. King

We can be well assured that the subtle voice of satin whispered a long time into the ears of the people, convincing them to ask for a king. The people would not rest until satan's lie or hook was swallowed by them. GOD warned them through Samuel. Later GOD warned us through John, see Revelation 6:1-8, the opening of seal 1,2,3,4.

Taken is same as chosen or set aside as a group or as a person.

Day 76 of Bible in a Year Reading. Israel is going to get what it wants. It appears to be almost like a divorce. God allowed for divorce but it would hurt the parties involved and their generations. God allows in these previous chapters His people to "divorce" from Him as the head of them. Because of the hardness of their heart like unto Egypt, like unto this world. Christ Life is Victory.

Very interesting read. So much of the feel of the flow of it reminds me how our Church leaders must struggle today. Especially the Preachers. God called Men and Women who have been called to serve and having to make the choice of whether to act or to hid. Those who decide to act then have the extra burden of those who despise them. Those who rather see failure instead of offering prayer and supp.

April; "Taken..." is a form of speech: it means that as the sons of Benjamin (the Tribe) were set apart, then so 'n' so was set apart, and then so 'n' so was set apart ... till they came to Saul: it was to show the way God showed them, bit by bit. Yes, it is strange how people can feel the need to say something religious, but have no religion really in their heart, and stubbornly refuse to repent!

Interesting these people wanted nothing to do with GOD yet, they in vs24 this ch. said God save the King,so they were fine with God appoimtimg a king just not him his self,interesting..and when it said taken vs19-21 this ch. is it saying they were swallowed up or something, where were they taken?,Saul was found of course, I'm a little confused about this part.

I like the reading of Saul being anointed with a vial of oil by Samuel. But the most enlighten part of this chapter is when the holy spirit fell upon Saul and God began to prophesied to Him on who he would meet. The favor of God is awesome.

The last verse talks about how some men insulted Saul. He kept his peace and did not retaliate against them.

saul 's annointing by samuel was brought by people 's rejection of God...lets be careful not to presure God to give us wat seems right to our eyes.pray that the eyes of our understanding may be enlightened .

I love verse 4 when Saul was anointed the spirit of God through prophet Saul prophesied to Him that he would meet men who would give him bread and he was commanded to receive of their gifts. Which means that God will allow people to come our way to give us free gifts -- gifts we might not have received of, gifts that we might be in need of as bread is an essential and gifts that we shall not be required to pay back. The prayer I have tonight is that God will open doors for us to receive gifts -- 'Big gifts ' and free gifts. Whatever it is you are looking for, God will supply it through someones ' gift to us.
