The moment that ADAM ate the fruit, I believe, "the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons." Gen 3:7
Something instantaneously changed. Within a short period of time, God pronounces judgement, but at THIS point in time both Adam and Eve knew that they were naked and exposed. "It is more than probable that they were clothed in light before the fall, and when they sinned the light went out." (Barnhouse)
Whatever it actually was, this LOSS was palpable and prompted them to attempt to cover is aspect of their shame. It was an evidence of the brokenness that we all feel many times during our lives. It resulted in judgements and their being driven out of Eden, never to again partake of The Tree of Life.
Following this we see another principle:
"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." Rom 4:3
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."Joh 5:24
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."Joh 3:3
Born again, new life: Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once. However you describe it, the second birth come from God through active trust in The Son of God, Jesus The Christ.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8-9
We were DEAD!
"And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;" Col 2:13
Adam and Eve's bodies went in the earth to replenish it within 1000 years. God said "the day you eat, you shall surely die."
2 Peter 3:8 shows a day to God is a 1000 years. This means no man or woman will live to a 1000 years. Adam died at 930 years old, he was 70 years short of a full day. This 70 years is where we today come to fulfill. God shortened the lifespan of man twice; 70-120 years.
So God is correct, Adam and Eve died in a day. There is a lot more I could say on this but to avoid boredom, I'll keep it short. God bless you
Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Genesis 3:4&5
God said that Jesus was his Son . If you make Jesus out to be more than that is that not a stretch ? Why did God say Jesus was his son only ? Let's be honest did God lie ? We know He does not lie .
For those who don't understandeth Verse 7, here it is pre-written from Other Translations, basic english bible : And his servant said to him, "Do whatever is in your mind. I am with you in every desire of your heart"
King Saul is a very grateful man follower of our almighty God. His son was die in the war against Philistine but king Saul never affected and never blaming of some ones. He build an altar to rejoice and more may worship the lord.
Verse 7~Jonathan had courage and faith in Jehovah God and in turn this helped his armour bearer to have confidence. Our strong faith can have a positive effect on others.
Christ Magnified Glorifying Jesus on 1 Samuel 14 - 6 years ago
Many foolish (wicked) oaths were made and are still made today by men; oaths that did not come from God. They are oaths that were made because of pride pr misplaced trust and certainly power hungry men. These oaths were made to bind others to one man's word but not God's words.
Anne; this is like the part where Jesus and the disciples went through the corn fields on Sabbath, and the Pharisees found fault and accused them. The example Jesus gave tells us so much about God's thoughts, and having mercy, and using common sense. And the Lord's answer, that "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath;" is the part that teaches us the nature of the Spirit in the Law.
Apparently, Jonathan did not think that his father's order was wise in forbidding the men to nourish themselves. He felt that more could have been done if the men had eaten.
Johnathan seemed to have been moved by father to go without telling anyone else but one person, but when he ate the honey, although he didn't hear what his father said,he should have repented for his wrong doing,or try to see if he could make an amends,we all make mistakes, but does that mean we shouldn't feel something when we make them?,especially since one mans sin leads to the falter of ALL?Amen.
When it comes to God, it is not a question of strategy or tactics, victory comes any how He wants it. We also see the power of agreement working between Jonathan and his armour bearer. Jonathan took a risk which I believe was divinely inspired. Lesson: Don't share your vision with everyone and move away from negative people. Be bold and take God by His word.
I thank God the Holy Spirit guided you to write from the verse " Nothing can thwart His hand or His Will" as I am going through a very painful season in my life due to what I believe was my disobedience ( Job 33:27) when I was surprised by sin in 2003. I am grateful that Father is So Faithful and Loving, to correct my path with His righteousness Jesus is Everything to me. God bless you
God alone is bigger than any multitude of enemies, any giant, and He can use as few as two or three to do the works of entire armies to do what He wills. I've read that nothing can thwart His hand or His will. This chapter is evidence of that truth.
I believe that GOD revealed Jonathan as the one who disobeyed Saul ' commandment, in order to show Jonathan that he had nothing to fear, and that GOD was with him.
