After studying 1 Timothy 3. I am still left without a conclusion about whether a man who is divorced and remarries should be elected a deacon in a Baptist church
There is no other apostle that can write so eloquently about this subject like the apostle paul. Paul clearly states the qualifications for any church leader. Contrary to many beliefs about bishop the term basically means overseer in the greek.
Catholic priests and bishops do not marry. In Orthodox Christianity for most part one cannot be a priest, unless one is married. On the other hand, their bishops do not marry. Where can one learn more on the issue of priests bishops being married or not, when was it in place, when did it cease to be in place, and all? I mean hear in the original Christian religion, namely Orthodox Christianity and its offshoot, Catholicism.
Should be read by those who are responsible for the ordaining of pastors and preachers and those who have just been delivered from the throes of drug and or drinking and or sex addiction by grace Some of these immediately want to become preachers pastors - so that they don't fall into the snares of Satan and lead other people into disaster , as is described a few sentences later in 1 Timothy.
Re Matt.28:19: "Father" is a TITLE, "Son" is a TITLE, and "Holy Ghost" is a TITLE! "The Name" Jesus is referring to is JESUS. Peter fulfilled Matt. 28:19 in Acts 2, when he admonished the crowd to "repent and be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus for the remission of sins, and... receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."! There are of Scriptures backing this up. James wrote that if you believe in ONE God, you do well. The devils also believe and tremble."
Verse 16. The Bible says that "God was manifest in the flesh" and that's what it means. Jesus was the earthly manifestation of God in the flesh. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Three that bear record 1.Father God 2 Word Jesus and 3. Holy Ghost. The TRINITY. Here again the word trinity though not in the Bible is used in Christian Churches to acknowledge this fact.
Althougth the word TRINITY is not in the Bible the concept is, acording to Jesus. Matthew 28:19 " Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." The Son ergo would be the second person of the Godhood.
1 Timothy 3:16, Jehovah of the old-testament is Jesus of The new-testament. God appear with the name Jehovah in the old-testament with a spiritual body without blood, but He appear in the new-testament with a natural body with a blood to save his lost children. Jesus Is the only true God and no no other God beside Him.
1 Timothy 3 16 is a very important verse as many others in the Bible. the use of he or who or God is not a problem. what we have to know and notice Jesus is not a mere person. he is God and human being. he is neither a small god nor the second person of the trinity which is not in the Bible. for those who has ear to hear. Jesus is the only one God manifested into flesh. he came into the world as a human being to dye as a lamb to save the world.
Why was "God " placed in 3:16, when it was not in the original text. Many use it as proof text for the trinity and though I wish I could, as my mom is a Jehovah Witness, I don 't see that God can replace he or who depending on the version. this is a problem for me because JW 's use it against me. Is there a reason why God is used in some versions other than the translator felt it was OK as being a Trinitarian? Thanks, this is a big deal for me.
That as Christ 's chosen leaders. Pastors must keep and be held to a higher standard and truly imitate Christ and his behavior and be examples for their flock.
It is very clear on the qualifications of a bishop according to 1st Timothy 3 verse 2 be blameless and have one wife, vigilant, sober, good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach If any man who does not fit that description is not qualify until those guidelines are met It is a reason why these guidelines are in place.
Read John 14:9. If you have seen Jesus, you have seen the Father, Jesus told Phillip. Jesus lived the Father 's will. Verse 16 of 1Timothy 3 is so beautiful and says so much. I think of the passage of scripture in Matthew 3:15-17 when I read that.
A Pastor is suppose set an example for his congregation . The only way should remarry is his wife past away, then he could Marry again !! God does not make mistakes . Are churches so corrupt ! That if he marry again, he should step from the pulpit !!!!!
This scripture desires a close study and not just a glance to say that it 's final interpertation disqulifies men who have been divorced or married to a woman that had been previously divorced. It is clear that Paul is looking at the current status of the man and not the past in which the blood of Jesus has washed away...A pastor should be a one woman man, married to one woman at once and not looking with an adulterous eye for another. All the qualifying points relate to a man that has been saved and has shown himself as faithful to all things concerning Godly service over a period of time that validates his call to service and faithfulness to perform that service without being overtaken by the enemy...Too many people have taken this to a dogmatic level and while there may be pastors and deacons in our assemblies that have only been married once, they are missing one, some or all of the other qualifiers...So many churches have disqualified leaders based on the marriage issue but have overlooked the other qualifiers on this list. Stop and ask if God could take a murderer, rapist, thief or any other sin sick manner of man and save him, clean him up and call him to lead his people .... The Apostle Paul says Absolutley ! When you put sin in perspective vs. ranking it 's obvious that God can do what man can 't do ... Forgive and Forget !!!
I really love these instructions given by the man of God to up coming man of God giving hm a benchmark criteria if u will for holding such a offc, cuz as we see tody mny people churchs hve made up wht thy thank a pastor outta b lke versus lineing up wth sound doctrine... for the brother asking, "wht does he mean abt 1 wife ", is tht u can 't be a man who hs multiple wife 's, or a man who has ben given in out of marriage becuz it shows tht ur unfaithful, unstable, lack understanding whn it comes to covenant which is from God
The first time i saw this scripture,i knew is was a deep revelation from God and i find it after listen to a preacher who was saying that God was not wrapped in the flesh, instead he was saying that Jesus was wrapped in the flesh, but not God.i was so confused that day and like usually,i asked for my Lord to show me the answer, first,my Lord took me to John 1,1 14 and then he took me to 1John4,1 4 and then to tim1,16,where i finilly found the mystery of Godliness, the same day i ask to speak with the pastor for clarification, but i was not able to speak to him, they didn 't let me speak to him.so i call another preacher of the same church, who told me that the godliness timothy is talking about is Men,that became like God,i asked twice, that what you said,he said the scripture was not talking about God,but Men made in the image of God.but is simple, why are trying to twist the word of GOD when is appear so real.God was made flesh,by jesus our Lord, and the spirit of God was in him,so he was God made flesh.this scripture is a revelation for those who still think that Jesus Christ is not one with God,and thanks for Annette, who just open my mind again, which Isaiah 9 6 who explains again that God was made flesh trough Christ.
jesus christ is the great shepherd and we are his sheep. the Lord will separate the sheep from the goats. a kid is a baby goat.... be seperate from from the world and stand stand strong for God.
Sweet and lovely mommap on 1 Timothy 3 - 10 years ago
The comments are all directed to people stating what someone else should be. Let a man examine himself. The scriptures tell me the requirements for ministry as a Deacon and a Bishop. Which neither I can be, because I 'll never have a wife, I 'm a woman. So my comment is, I 'll try to live by the requirements even though I can 't be one. Thank you Lord Jesus for instructions.
Jesus is god mainifested in flesh. God prepaired a body for himself to reconcile the world unto him self. In Isaiah God said he would not share his glory with anyone else and that there is no God formed before and after him. That there is no savior besides himself. That he crerated the heavans and the world alone and by himself. That he is the beggining and the end. In Revalations Jesus says hes the alpha and omega, the beggining and end. That he will be our God and we will be his sons. Thus the trinity is robing God of his glory. Jesus is the everlasting father, the mighty God. For there is no other name given unto man for us to be saved Acts 4 12
The scripture is clear that if a man cannot manage his own family, he is not to manage the Household of Faith. The Lord will forgive a divorced person, but ministry is not for him. A support group for overcoming divorce is better, where you can share your experience with others who have divorced, and grow in your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
the deacon and paster of the Church need to be held to a high standard but if his first wife dies and he wishes to remarred then he is still in the will of god
I d wish all servants of God would live according to this Scripture The church would grow to great heights and avoid the tainting of the body of christ happening of late especially in my country
