53And the families of Kiriath-iearim, the Ithrites, and the Puhites, and the Shumathites, and the Mishraites: of them came the Zareathites, and the Eshtaulites. 54The sonnes of Salmah: Bethlehem, and the Netophathites, Ataroth, the house of Ioab, and halfe of the Manahethites, the Zorites. 55And the families of the Scribes, which dwelt at Iabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.

And these were eitherLevites, or Simeonites, or rather Kenites, and are herementioned not as if they were of the tribe of Judah, but because theydwelt among them, and probably were allied to them by marriages, andso in a manner incorporated with them.
