5Moreouer, I will deliuer all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Iudah will I giue into the hand of their enemies which shal spoile them, and take them and cary them to Babylon. 6And thou Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house, shall goe into captiuitie, and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou and all thy friends to whom thou hast prophecied lies. 7¶ O Lord, thou hast deceiued me, and I was deceiued, thou art stronger then I, and hast preuailed: I am in derision daily, euery one mocketh me. 8For since I spake I cryed out, I cried violence and spoyle; because the word of the Lord was made a reproch vnto me, and a derision daily? 9Then I said; I will not make mention of him, nor speake any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart, as a burning fire shut vp in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

20:7 Hast prevailed - Thou prevailedst against me. Jeremiah at first excused himself to God, chap.#1:6|, but the Lord prevailed against him replying, ver.#1:7|, Say not, I am a child, for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak, ver.#1:9|. This is all that is here meant, namely, God's over - ruling him contrary to his own inclinations.
