14And I looked, and beholde, a white cloud, and vpon the cloude one sate like vnto the sonne of man, hauing on his head a golden crowne, and in his hand a sharpe sickle. 15And another Angel came out of the Temple crying with a loude voice to him that sate on the cloud: Thrust in thy sickle and reape, for the time is come for thee to reape, for the haruest of the earth is ripe. 16And hee that sate on the cloude thrust in his sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped. 17And another Angel came out of the Temple which is in heauen, he also hauing a sharpe sickle. 18And another Angel came out from the Altar, which had power ouer fire, and cryed with a loud cry to him, that had the sharpe sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharpe sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.

14:16 Crying - By the command of God. Thrust in thy sickle, for the harvest is ripe - This implies an high degree of holiness in those good men, and an earnest desire to be with God.

Re 14:16 And the earth was reaped. The harvest of souls is ended forever. But those who are upon the earth "shall not be taken before them that are asleep" (1Th 4:15). At the voice of the archangel the dead shall wake from their long sleep in the embrace of earth. Death shall be "swallowed up in victory" (1Co 15:54). See also Re 14:13.
