2 Chronicles Chapter 15 Discussion

This is such an encouraging verse in God's word! This world is oftentimes so discouraging and the work of the Lord can become quite heavy and feel as if there is no reward in it.

I am so thankful God reminds us here that our work for Him WILL be rewarded! He is surely a God that understands our infirmities and our struggles!

So thankful to be one of His chosen ones! Thankful that He knows ALL! Thank you, LORD, for loving us so kindly and reminding us that our labour is not in vain!

Chris, thank you. Your impression of where I was coming from in this matter is correct.

I agree that I think each person should find out for themselves about this matter rather than just take in what someone says on here or in any other publication or the preaching/teaching of others in such roles.

And I agree that there is so much we do not know about the early church and the leaders who wrote and spoke about many matters, eschatology included.

I am fine with bringing this discussion between us to a conclusion, but I just wanted you to know that I welcome any replies you wish to send me.

Hello Patrick, What you are identifying is "dispensationalism", and yes, it has not been taught throughout church history. You can search online one the subject. You can find on the site testallthingsDOTcom articles concerning this viewpoint that introduced the pre-tribulation rapture into Christian thought in the 1800's by Irwin and Darby in Ireland. Irwin learned of it from the writings of a Jesuit priest from Spain.

This site mentioned has several articles that explain many things about dispensationalism and what are the pros and cons of this viewpoint. I do not think that this KJV forum is the best place to study and discuss this since there are sites readily available that will give articles that address both sides. This forum tends to get heated up with topics such as this with people attempting to prove their viewpoint in this discussion format. I don't think that would be as helpful as you studying from online sites on your own. That is my recommendation.

To answer your question, the teaching of the Christian faith throughout history has been that Jesus will come back "on the Last Day" and that is when we all will be resurrected or translated. This last day is the Final Day in the History of the earth as it is now. Jesus' return will be the culmination of redemptive history and the plan of salvation in Him since before creation. There are several names that identify a couple differing viewpoints on this topic. post-millenialism, pre-millenialism, amillenialsim. These viewpoint address the coming of the Kingdom of God and the reign of Jesus over all the nations.

No matter what you are going through, be strong and continue serving God and being a partaker of Gods Kingdom, do not circum to weakness. God is your rewarder. God is delightful to see us his children following His footsteps and doing good.He wants us to humble out selves and be obedient to Him.

Verse 17-Asa built up a life course of having a complete heart. He made mistakes, but Jehovah God looked at the whole picture, his good qualities, and the condition of his heart.

We're not told in clear terms what Jabez's Mother's sorrow was, except as commentators agree that she had a difficult painful labour, & so called her son, Jabez, whose name means "sorrowful".

It might appear strange to us that a Mother would so name a child, but in Eastern cultures, often names had some special depiction or meaning & was a reminder of what was encountered with her child. Whereas in the West, we might tend to go for a name that is in vogue or for some other reason (a name already in the family, or of someone who may be admired, etc).
  • Rosemary on 2 Chronicles 15 - 4 years ago
What is the sorrow that jabez was born in that's in 1chronicle 4:9-10

"Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded."

    2 Chronicles 15:7 (KJV)

Keep on keeping on. Faith is living by Faith in Father God and Christ's Tough-LOVE for you, and not be sight. Even though you may feel weak and unrewarded by Father God and you may be walking through the valley of the SHADOW of death ( Psalms 23:4), but know that SHADOWS disappear when THE SON SHINES IN!!! You are Rewarded. Focus on God and Christ in You!!! Christ says in John 14:18 "I will NOT leave you comfortless: I Will Come To You [in You NOW!!!]." Hallelujah!!! Amen

The KJV is a translation and is not 'lifted'. Let me ask you a question: if you translate Hello to Hola for Spanish, since people already did that before you are they right to accuse you of "lifting" that from them? What if instead of lifted it happens to be the correct translated word? That is likely why you claim a large percent may match a previous translation, because part of the previous was correctly translated. Also, comparing to previous translations doesn't weaken a translation. The KJV was translated over 7 years by 47 scholars who worked in meticulous detail to create fresh new translation which is why it's accurate.
  • Dan monroe - In Reply on 2 Chronicles 15 - 5 years ago
The KJV 1611 has 83 of it lifted directly from William Tyndale's Bible. That is why it is a 'version' and not a 'translation'. The Jewish scholars who guided the kjv translators were Rabbinic Pharisee . All translations are an opinion.

and what part is wrong. The bible KJV was translated from old text also.

This was grossly mistranslated into English, as the original Hebrew text clearly points to a future event from the author's timeline - which prophesied the coming exile divorce of the Ten Northern tribes of Israel, and the rejoining yet future event of the ingathering of both houses of Judah and Israel Ezekiel's two sticks in ch. 37 . Just sharing my insight from studying Ancient Biblical Hebre

Clearly the Lord was with the Isrealites because they turned back to him in keeping his commandments and put away the abominable gods.God always have answered there prayers when they repented of the evil they did and blessed them.

In this chapter it is declared; "The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you". ... In 2018 The human race has also elevated high-tech over GOD; A-whoring after High-Tech has added another idol to the came's back, now his back is cracked but not broke. Only SALVATION BY the BLOOD OF JESUS... . WOW! WOW! WOW!
  • Mary Atkinson on 2 Chronicles 15 - 6 years ago
This chapter is simply teaching us that Jesus will never leave us nor fosaken us he will be with us even until the end of the earth, and this really warms my Heart!! We are the ones who walk away from him and all his teaching,But when we repent and get it right he Loves us still, he is so just to for give and welcomes us with open arms!!Who wouldn't serve and worship a God like this???

    Verse 4
It's a blessing that God never changes. He always receives us back when we have a change of heart. He has great compassion for us. God knows that we need Him so He is gracious to us. Thank you Lord Jesus for your name is great and your heart is kind.

2 Chronicles 15:7 The context of this verse is spiritual work serving the Lord, When Asa heard the prophetic words of Oded he took courage and destroyed the idols in many cities, he renewed the alter of the Lord. God rewarded his work.

Its best to be strong in the Lord so as to be able to complete the christian race. The word of God says in Isiah 40vs31 "Those who wait onthe Lord,Shall renew their strength,They shall mount up with wings like eagles,They shall run and not get weary,They shall walk and not faint" ,in God i trust,He is my strong tower to which in my weaknesses He becomes stronger and He then relays that strength back to me such that i stand up again.Psalms 20vs 8."They have bowed down and fallen,But we have risen and stand upright" GLORY TO JESUS,WHO STRENGTHENS ME AND THERE AFTER REWARDS ME
  • Bella Martin on 2 Chronicles 15 - 8 years ago
2 Chronicles 15:7 states "Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded." It is so easy to get captured in the world of busyness. I work 40 hours when college isn't in session, 35 for this year. School and work keeps me busy, distracted and worn out. It's easy to just say "Oh, I've been so busy I'm too 'tired' to do my devotion" or "I don't ever have any free time to do time with God!" Well God has given us 24 hours and yes, work occupies some of it but what about the time you have to go to meals or to just lay in bed before 'actually' sleeping??? We must make time for God and pray for strength because it's easy to be worn out but when you spend time with Him Oh! How refreshed your soul feels.
