Josiah's exploit and reformation in the nation at a tender age is quite instructive.Christian parents should not underestimate what the Lord can do in the church and nation thru their children. Therefore, good attention should be given 2 training our children IN THE WAY OF THE LORD,particularly in this perilous times when social vices are on the increase. Parenting should be the core of our spiritual and secular activity
Hi Peter; I love the story of Josiah! He was not appreciated and his countrymen were not worthy of such a wonderful man of God to be their king; but God set him up nonetheless. Like when David was king; what was in his heart was not necessarily what was in the hearts of the people: for they quickly and readily took the opportunity to conspire to evil as soon as they could without fear and defiant!
Josiah sought the Words of God and hearkened onto it. The prophetess conveyed God's punishment for idolatry of the Israelites. Josiah summoned his people and pledged obedience to God's laws. They repented and God showed mercy. We serve a merciful God. All we need do is obey His commandments and when we transgress, seek His forgiveness. He is ever ready to forgive.
I Think 2 Chronicles 34 shows us a leader that understood the importance of abiding by the precepts of God. After repenting God delayed His pending judgement. Realizing God is a holy and just and a repented people can either turn or delay His judgement. I believe as a people, nation and leaders if we learn as well as heed this example we too can experience delayed judgement that comes upon all who continues to disobey God.
