  • TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL - In Reply on 2 Corinthians 12:14 - 4 years ago
    Matthew 6:20

But LAY UP for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

    2 Corinthians 12:14

Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to LAY UP for the parents, but the parents for the children.

    Comment:

I think this is clearly showing us that material possessions and financial is not really going to bless your kids.

It's the spiritual blessings we impart to them, from early childhood to adulthood that make for an eternal impartation.

I read short Psalms or Proverbs to my 7yr old grandson now; and I did it when he was much younger too. He received Jesus as his Savior over a year ago. I will never stop praying for him or his parents. That's the gold and silver that you leave for your kids.

Once they connect to peers and the world, they need our prayers more than ever. All through The Moses and Joshua years, it's commanded that they teach the history and the blessings To the children. Parents :) teaching their kids. They are your treasure.

What does it mean in N.T. when it says a parent should lay up for their children. Does it mean that parents should make sure children are left money?

Comments about that 3 rd Heaven Paul saw. 1st of all that 3 rd heaven is in humanity as Jesus said the tabernacle of God is with man, and i will dwell in them and have my being in them and i will be their GOD they shall be MY PPL ETC,And if any man ( humanity ) hears my words and keeps them MY FATHER and i will come and take our abode with him thus that 3rd heaven is within mankind, abide in me and i in you But it was unlawfull to speak this in the o.t. as God was in the ark of the covenant in the most holy place not with in the levitical priesthood. the ark was the 1st heaven, the 2 nd being in the tabernacle that Solomon built. But Solomon said the heavens cannot contain thee , How must less this tabernacle that i have built ,But the 3 rd heaven is in mankind thats y he refers to himself as the Son of MAN. Jesus said not here nor there but with in you. The Tabernacle of God is with man and he shall abide with them and be their GOD ETC Thus the 3rd heaven is God /Christ in you the hope of glory, Remember Rev 11: 15 the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our lord and his Christ. This is the final and the 3 rd heaven God Almighty living with in his ppl .via the NEW BIRTH. THE Tabernacle of God is with man. He dwelleth with you but shall be within you. When God described the new covenant he said he wd put his WORDS ( HIS spritual SONS ) the H.G.IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS AND I WILL BE THEIR God and they shall be my PPL. GBU

Adeleye, we generally understand that Paul was referring to himself when he described this vision & revelation given to him. The reason that he speaks this way was probably because of the sights & sounds that were open to him & what he shared in his letter might cause his readers to think of him as more superior to others (vv 5,6). So to counteract that sense of superiority, he's diverting their attention off himself & speaking in the 'third' person. In fact, just so that he wouldn't sense any personal superiority & fall into sin, the Lord had given him a 'thorn in the flesh' to keep him humble (v7).

The "third Heaven" being referred to is Heaven, the place of God's abode. The first heaven being the sky & the second being the universe of planets & stars. So Paul is saying that the Lord gave him the privilege of looking into God's Abode with all the angelic host & what he heard & saw was unutterable to mankind because of its glory & splendour.

Pls,who is this man Paul was talking about here and what is the meaning of third heaven?
  • Adam on 2 Corinthians 12:9 - 4 years ago
God seems to have a heart for the underdogs. God chose unlikely people in the Bible for great things. Some were insecure, hesitant, complained, said 'why me?', yet God had a plan. We do that today. We have shortcomings and don't think we can do this or that to help others or fulfill our purpose. God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. Amen.

The first heaven is the sky where the birds fly. The second is space where the moon stars and planets are. The third heaven is where the throne of God is. Have a blessed day

One might think of the numbers in the old testament. How those with leprosy were put outside the camp. Paul ,like Moses were given revelations concerning the spiritual needs of the children and their health. A true leader must go through trying experiences, understanding Gods strength and its perfection. Sheep hear their Shepherds voice. Its not what goes in that defiles, its what comes out. Phili.4:6-8 Be careful for nothing. His word is everlasting.

It would be beautiful if we can take the word that we shared between each other to sinners tell them about that goodness and the faithfulness about God how much he loves us and he can love them the same way be transparent on how he delivered you and maybe what he delivered you from we are God's eyes and ears his arms his hands we were call for his purpose to share the good news of the Gospel challenge let's all find a sinner this week and share the good news of the Gospel praise the Lord God is good

God's grace is absolutely sufficient for us. Our strength is made perfect in weakness. We should commit this passage to memory so that we use it daily for internal spiritual and soul support. Reaffirm ourselves in the Word of God throughout the day for perfecting our souls.

When the Lord wants to tell you something He will. No surprise how He does it. I have been shown many things thru out of body and dreams years ago. I went thru hell in trails thru my life because if it. Lonely, yet solid He made me as a rock for His Kingdom.

Positioning ourselves as low or weak in a humble state. This is how we gain a spiritual advantage.Grace signifies the good-will of God towards us, and that is enough to enlighten and enliven us, sufficient to strengthen and comfort in all afflictions and distresses. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. One the prays to God in Word or thought is trusting the power of Christ to supply.
  • Teri - In Reply on 2 Corinthians 12 - 5 years ago
The person taken up was Paul, he experienced a vision or supernatural out of body experience 14 years previous. He did not know how to put it into words or would not speak about it. We know Paul had an eye condition which may be the thorn in the flesh he mentions and this may have happened on the road to Damascus.
  • Sheryl on 2 Corinthians 12 - 5 years ago
I thought that verse 2 was referring to a man that, went to heaven, interacted with God then was brought back. My question is was he dead or not which Paul not knowing whether he was in or out of his body would seem to indicate.

2 Pet. 3:13 speaks about a new heaven and a new earth. A time when the heavens would be cleaned ( Satan was not yet cast out) , and the Earth would be restored to be like Eden. Maybe it is talking about when Heaven and Earth are under Jesus Christ's authority. From the Bible reading in its entirety, I don't see evidence of a literal 3rd heaven. ( Where's 2nd heaven?) So probably a metaphor ....

When I was in school, my favorite time was recess. But some continued to study while I played. That's how it could be in the faith world. Many are satisfied with the promise of heaven while the few can only be satisfied by being in the presence and service of God. Is the third heaven where those like Moses, Elijah, Daniel, Isaiah, and Jeremiah go?

GOD'S LOVE FOR HIS CHILDREN WILL SHINE FOREVER. ON YOUR KNEES PRAY FOR HIS LOVE AND COMPASSION. READ PSALM 23--. HE IS HERE FOR YOU. NEVER WILL HE LEAVE YOU. LIKE JESUS HIS SON, HE WILL FIGHT FOR YOU..LOOK UP AND SEEK HIM HIGH IN THE HEAVENS. YOU WILL FEEL HIS LIGHT SURROUNDING YOU!!! PRAISE HIM:

Many of us glory in rewards. For those who live a righteous life, that is what heaven is all about. But there are the few who glory in service. And they, too, may have their reward.
  • Gary Olsen on 2 Corinthians 12 - 5 years ago
If heaven is tiered to individual achievements in faith and understanding, how many of us would be on the top floor? Probably very few.
  • Gary Olsen on 2 Corinthians 12 - 5 years ago
Who knows what the third heaven of verse 2 is really about. Could it have something to do with the varying levels of faith of individuals. If Paul is our standard, how many of us could ever hope to achieve his level of faith. Or does it have to do with our different levels of understanding. How many of us could claim to understand as much as Paul did.

12:1 It is not expedient (suitable) for me (to act in self-interest) doubtless (in my certainty of the truth in what I believe) to glory (be filled or act with pride). I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord (God will show me how weak and foolish I am - verse 5, 6).
