In verse 18 Paul is so careful to say, yet not focusing on the things that are seen because they are temporal, but on that which is unseen, am sure he meant the spiritual things...today we look so much on the seen ones to determine who we are and where we are going in life, we are walking by sight by faith in the spirit of God. This verse reminds us to look back to God and not to things around us. Amen
we are the treasures of the Lord. he cherishes us and value us. that is why he has given us the treasure of the great task of preaching the good news to All, who are in the dark.
The Apostil writes these letters to members of the church that Jesus Christ, who was sent by God, had established! These members, thou they had faith before Christ, needed to be restored daily as they were baptised in Christ(the church of the Apostils), who was the first High Priest and Apostil of our doctrine, the members were all served Holy communion, and they were sealed with the Holy Ghost By the laying on of the hands of an Apostil of Jesus Christ, thus completing the transformation from flesh to spirit. This scripture has been maid availible to the whole world in preperation for the coming of the Son of God who is no longer one individual member but is the Glorified Body: 1 Chorinthians 12 v 27 Many members one body! Jesus Christ is alive in this flesh!
"For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh." ( II Corinthians 4:11)
Some may ask why some believers seem to have so many trials and afflictions. Some may erroneously
say the person has sin in their life and they are being chastised.
Paul says we which live are always delivered unto death.
We are always delivered unto death for...for what reason? That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
Death is seen so that the life of Jesus also may be seen.
II Corinthians 2:14 says, "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place."
The "savour of his knowledge" is made manifest by us. God uses us to manifest the savour of his knowledge. What a priviledge that he uses us. That savour is victory over death. We can always triumph over death, hell, powers, principalities, etc. in Christ. The savour of God's knowledge is manifested by us in every place. Wherever we are, if we are delivered unto death, we are the ones God has chosen to manifest the savour of his knowledge in that place.
I think of God looking down upon earth and seeing all things, sees what place needs a savour of his knowledge. And then he sends one of his into that place. He then allows them to go unto death. In death, now the life of Christ is seen. There is now manifested the savour of God's knowledge in that place.
God makes manifest the savour of his knowledge "by us" "in every place."
What a mind blowing thought, God manifests this savour of his knowledge "by us." And not only "by us," but he does this "in every place."
We have victory because of Christ. On our side what gives us victory? Love is one. When you love, you don't want anything to break that bond. Truth is another, but love is what bonds it. You don't want to go against truth - because you love the truth, and because you love The Truth. You love the One who is Truth. Another is wisdom, you know anything against truth is death. You don't want death, you want to abide in life. Another is service, you don't want to not be the "by us" "in every place." That's love also, because you love God's service. Another is knowledge, you don't want to be joined to the power of the enemy, and lose the only power you have against it - power in Christ.
After Jesus rose from the dead, he spoke to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?" ( John 21:15)
Jesus said, "...son of Jonas..." We have no power to be victorious apart from Jesus Christ. Our fleshly nature, the son of man nature, the son of Jonas nature, the old man, the old nature, the nature we inherit from our parents, cannot give us victory; only by the Spirit of Christ can we be victorious.
"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place."
THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS IN OUR HOLY TEMPLE, THEREFORE WE "DIE DAILY" AND THE SPIRIT DIRECTS OUR PATH. WE SEEK A HEAVENLY KINGDOM, FOR THOSE THINGS WE SEE WILL VANISH. WE MUST DAILY DIE IN THE FLESH AND LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, SEEKING A KINGDOM WE CANNOT YET SEE.
Is there not conflict within? Who among us does not live in this world in which we were born, as they accused the blind man, who was born "all together in sin". So we fight this inpulse in the light of our knowledge of the Spirit conveyed in this chapter. Our faith is tested in every moment of our waking lives. The devil never slumbers, as a stalking lion, hoping to catch someone unawares. Even Paul confesses these conflicting forces in his body, but did not lose his knowledge of the spirit and his faith stayed strong thruout his life so that he obtained the crown of glory eternally gathered together with the fathers in joy and peace.
I am thankful and assured that the Lord Jesus knows of the trials and tribulations that I face on a daily basis. Oh, how I rejoice and is comforted by his compassion and knowing that he is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The sirit of fear has no governance in my life. I submit my life to God; resist the devil always and he flees from me. Nothing but victory in Jesus.
the spirit is showing me that chapter 4 is saying if God is in us let us be seperated from the world. so when others see us they see jesus/ do other see jesus in you and you and yes me? think about about it: we should be shineing because he lives in us. why be a dead christian? lets do what He has called us to do with the concideration that we have all we need(the spirit)
The god of this world is not Yaweh. The bible mentions god not God. Why would God blind the mind of the unbeliever? There would be no chance of them ever believing, would there? The god of this world is the serpent of old.
the god of this world is yahweh. 3:16 says "now the lord is that spirit", and the conversation is totally about how god puts a veil over the jews eyes. To discuss or believe anything else has this verse out of context.
II Corinthians Ch. 4, is very encouraging to the believer letting us know that whatever our suffering maybe it will not outweigh the blessing that is in living with Christ throughout eternity. But, to get to that point we must die to the flesh and live in the Spirit. This is taking our eyes and thoughts off what we now see and focus on what we do not see, those things are eternal. The enemy comes and try to take our focus through the trials and suffering we endure, Christ comes through our trials and suffering and brings us His strength that His glory will be perceived by all. Remember we must die before we can live.
