2 Kings 23:1 doesn't have that phrase in there - maybe you're thinking of verses 4 & 5. If so, the 'host of heaven' meant the sun, moon, planets & stars that Judah began worshipping. They had gone away from the Lord & behaved as the heathen around them did, worshipping in the groves & burning incense to Baal.
I think that Josiah who was raised with filth and idolatry actually turned to the truth of God's word when FIRST confronted with it!!! It's so beautiful, but so 'almost' unbelievable. I wasn't raised with anything, but I knew there was a 'god' somewhere - wasn't there .....? I was an 'empty vessel'. Then, at age 27 He began filling me with His truth. I had nothing to compare it to, as Josiah did.
King josiah is a king of diginity nd a man of excellent behaviour that every body has to emmulate.every higher ground international school student shuld knw that it is good to live a life of purity.
King Josiah set his heart to serve the Lord and the Lord prospered him, also as believers, we should always desire to please the Lord at all times in spite of perscution, trials, etc. Again, what ever God says he will do, he must surely do it even as it happended when Josiah destroyed all the images in the temple.
Why would the King of Egypt replace King Jehoahaz for his other brother Eliakim if they both did evil? Maybe next chapter will explain.
