Looks to be two different Jehorams, in Kings the son of Ahab, in Chronicles the son of Jehoshaphat

In the first verse it says that Jehoram reigned twelve years. But in 2 Chronicles, Chapter 21, Verse 5 and 20 it says Jehoram reigned eight years. So how many was it?

This chapter seemed to be so vivid that it really brought tears to my eyes. My heart just swelled with excitement and the wondrous works of God. When Elijah went up and blessed Elisha with double power , it reminded me that we have that same power and authority if we keep walking with God that we have the same ability as these prophets. It blessed my heart to know that Elijah didn't die God called him up! Isn't that a perfect way to keep us faithful and understand that God is so capable of doing anything that we ask of him if we remain faithful. I loved this chapter it has such profound message to me. It truly excites me and makes me want to press on no matter what because I know that my God is for me always and more than able to fight my battles for me that I will be victorious. Amen praise your name Jehovah

There are meanings that God wants us now to know about. I know what the holy blood of Jesus is untouchable and it was not yet shed !

Now tht ir is shed and speaks for us

WE are to be thankful to God for this blessings that is working for us!

Elisha and Elijah may be the two witnesses in the last days. They do call down fire from Heaven, which is one of the signs that the two witnesses do. And Elijah did not die but God took him. Like Enoch. Maybe they will be Elijah and Enoch. I always hoped to be one but I think they are Jews.

We must 'push the envelope' where God is concerned. When we have a need we oftentimes seek after the assistance of false friends and 'frenemies.' If we would just declare 'Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.' 2 Kings 3: 16 and further declare, 'For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water.' Miracle!

"Elisha poured water on the hands of Elijah" to me this is an example of total humility n submissiveness of the prophet no wonder he got a double portion a anointing .

Elisha served Elijah the prophet of God, faithfully. When we stay and work in the service of God He will use us mightily.

God is ever winning battles for the Israelites. Elisha was the vessel through which God spoke to the three kings. If we obey God, He will speak to us through the Holy Spirit and win our battles for us.

Elisha left everything to be with Elijah. Elijah had been his master, walking alongside him and teaching him the ministry of a prophet. They left the promise land and cross on dry ground to the other side. Elijah insisted that Elisha leave him., he repeated three times: Stay here, the Lord has sent me to Bethel. but Elisha s reply was always the same: As surely as the Lord lives and you live, I will not leave you. 2 Kings 2 . Some of us would have given up at Elijah s insistence, but not Elisha. He would go with Elijah until the very end. The Bible emphasizes the importance of preserving to the end without giving up. Faithfulness is one of the secrets to staying in the house of God and discovering His purpose for our lives. When Elijah attached a condition to the request, he was teaching Elisha that the answer depended only on him. It didn t depend on Elijah. Elijah s condition, If you see me didn t only mean that Elisha would have to see Elijah ascending, it had a deeper meaning as well: it meant seeing him as Father.

The issue of consulting a prophet in this case, reminds us of how important these Great Man of God are,and we surely must emulate the same. There is a great number of such great Man of God in our midst today, are we listening to the msgs they give us always? No we re insteady found wanting as we tend to persecute them with insults and blasphemy. Saints let us heed to the calling of God and remain blameproof as we tarry on steadfastly and immovable. God Bless.

Our God is the only one that specialises in solving impossibilities, Jehoshaphat 's life is a challenge to me in love, devotion to God and love toward fellow brethren. He endangered his life when he followed Ahab to battle yet he did the same for his son but not without consulting with the man of God. We today 's christian should emulate this, we should help others who needs our help.

Elisha pored water on the hands of Elijah this might have happened when Elisha made feast to his people.Elisha would have fed Elijah too and would have pored water submisevly on the hands of Elijah before and after having enjoyed the feast.

The way up is down. It is made known that there were many sons of prophets i.e students under the prophetic college of Elijah the prophet, but it was only Elisha the son of Shaphat that was recognized for his diligent service to the master. For any one to make an ompact in leadrship, you must have made an impact in followership. In followership, patience is a great and extra ordinary virtue needed. If an egg says that it has stayed too much under the incubation period of the mother hen and rolls away, it will neither be good for egg nor as a chicken.

This same kind of problems we create for selves today. Demanding resources from other countries at our price and when they refuse, we make up lies about their leaders to justify our going to war, in the pretence of freeing its people from this or that dictator.

I LIKE TO HEAR OR SEE PEOPLE WHO HAVE TIME FOR THE BIBLE; IT IS ONLY WAY OF PEACE: WHO IS HE THAT CAN WIN WHEN THE LORD GOD FIGHT FOR U: I CALL HIM TO MY BATTLES ALL THE TIMES; HE HAS NEVER LOST ONE:BE BLESS ALL OF U WHO HAVE TIME FOR WORD OF LIFE:

    GOOD MORNING,

I KNOW I RESPONDED TO THIS CHAPTER, BUT "OOPS", I LOST MY PLACE.

TO SPEAK ON GOD'S WORD, IS NOT A CHORE, ITS A PLEASURE, SO FORGIVE ME.

THIS CHAPTER ONCE AGAIN, REMINDS ME OF 1JOHN 5, WHERE WE SEE HOW THE "BLOOD, SPIRIT AND THE WATER" ARE IN AGREEMENT AND IS ONE.

OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR TOUCHES OUR LIVES, JUST AS HE IS IN HEAVEN, HE IS ALSO ALWAYS PRESENT WITH US HERE ON EARTH.
  • RALPH M. WATERS on 2 Kings 3 - 12 years ago
THIS CHAPTER MAKES ME REFLECT ON HOW THE LORD CONTINUES TO FIGHT THE BATTLE FOR THOSE THAT ARE IN CHRIST JESUS. VERSE 22 REMINDS ME OF 1JOHN 5:8 - THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN THE EARTH: THE SPIRIT,WATER, AND BLOOD AND THESE THREE IN ONE.
THE OLD TESTAMENT IS A RECORD OF THE PAST EVENTS, THAT MAKES US REALIZE THAT GOD WAS WORKING THEN AND HE IS STILL ON THE JOB, FIGHTING OUR BATTLES, IN THE FULFILLMENTS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.
