Alex1939..Samuel this reply may be too late but speaking of the strangers in Israel ... Luke 10:30..The good Samaritian was a stranger not of the ppl of Israel...But in his travels he came upon this wounded man that had fallen among thieves that had beaten him half dead but he went to him and poured in Oil and Wine and put him on his own mule and brought him to an inn and asked the keeper what so ever you spend more when i came again ( a 2 nd coming ) i will repay you...And b/c of this I believe the Stranger was Jesus that showed him love and mercy.
Way back when they came outa of Egypt God had ordered them to be kind to the Strangers that are among you seeing ye your selves were strangers in the land of Egypt at 1 time....GB
alex1939...Samuel this is a very interesting topic all thru the bible...The great King Solomon when he had completed his New Temple with his hands stretched toward heaven made intersession for the Stangers the Gentiles that was not of his ppl Israel.. approx a 1000 yrs b/f Jesus...2 nd Chronicles 6:32...Hear thou from heaven and do all that the stranger asked of thee...THAT THY NAME MIGHT BE GREAT IN ALL THE EARTH...And let us not forget our father ABRAHAM a Syrian a stranger that became a father to Israel the Jews the circumcision and to the uncircumcised the Gentiles ...So much to be said about the Strangers....GB
alex1939...Samuel the strangers were any body not of the common wealth of Israel...The Gentiles were considered the strangers .... Ephesians 2:11...Remember ye being strangers in the past called the uncircumcisied in the flesh....Ye were strangers to the comon wealth of Israel etc....Anybody not circumcised. gb
I do agree with brother Chris' answer. They were "out of towners" so to speak.
We also see the word strangers used in the New Testament, in the book of Hebrews, and also in 3 John 1:5 which says, beloved, you do faithfully whatsoever you are doing to the brethren, and to strangers;
Now strangers in the New Testament, they are strange only in that they are unknown to the person that's being hospitable to them. They are strangers in that they are from out of town.
In other words, Gaius didn't ride his rickshaw down by the freeway and pick up strangers hitchhiking. These are strangers or visitors from out of town that were Christians who were traveling in the Lord's work.
And it says the brethren and the strangers. So he even helped the brothers there in the town that he was in.
In Hebrews 13:2, strangers had to do with Christians who were traveling through town, those involved in the Lord's work, who were in town. The inns or hotels were usually full. But even if they weren't, it was a place of prostitution and drinking.
And so when believers came into town, they would inquire if there were other believers in that town that had a room that was vacant.
And that's what this is making reference to. The strangers are people who are foreigners in the city that they're in.
It says, "For thereby some have entertained angels unawares."
In Genesis Chapters 18 and 19, first with Abraham, and then with Lot, they entertained angels unawares. They were not aware of it. And so some people might have an angel in their house and not even know it.
Hi Samuel. Are you referring to 2 Samuel 4:3: "sojourners"? If so, this word, as with 'strangers', applies to people that are not normally resident in that city or area, but had traveled to another place to visit or reside; as seen also in Exodus 22:21 & other references.
Let us follow David's lead and leave all things to God's Hand. Romans 13: 1-4. Let's pray for our President and others in position of authority. 1 Timothy 2: 1-4. Even if we didn't vote for them, or not voted at all.
Our country needs us to stand together and trust in the wisdom of God and be patient as we await God's hand. As David waited, let us trust in the Lord God.

Day 84 of Bible Reading in a Year. The times seem different than ours, but are they really. The divisions as well as the leagues in politics and personal relationships are perhaps even more prominent today, but don't go as deep. I think the OT always makes me wonder about the relationships between God and men; and between men and men. The history is almost wild with ambition - blinding many.
Yes, the devil "thought" he was entitled, and the only hindrance to his "entitlement" was the truth itself; which he could simply ignore, oppose and contradict; because he imagined it, he assumed it to be his right. So too was the error and power to deceive the world by the matter of Nimrod, to turn the minds of men everywhere to "naturally" debate and contradict the Authority of the heavens.
Hello,so I just got a ping in my brain after reading Deciple's comment,u spoke of Satan being letn,n Saul's situation, and it got me 2 thinking,Satan thought he could OVER THROW the LORD from his from his Thrown, get Angels to turn on him and they could be in our fathers place, they were foolishly deceived,so when sin is there telling us stories,WE r listening, when we GIVE n2 it,allowing Satan in.
April; Many are called but few chosen! Judas was called as well as the other disciples, but he gave place to the devil and let sin hide in his heart, till he could no longer stand it, and had to either repent or go all the way and let Satan into his heart to betray the LORD. The same thing happened to Saul, and still does to multitudes today who can't quit sinning and WILL NOT receive instruction!
Chell, ALL, I was thinking and I've read many comments throughout some of these chapters, and I got to thinking,David was ANOINTED as well,he as well was chosen by GOD through SAMUEL,so intrestingly enough,Saul at one point didn't know David had been annointed,4 it was done in secrecy,Saul feared for his life, later Saul figured out GOD Was n fact with David,so why would he try to KILL HIM? W/B/L.
What i see as the main point here is the danger of taking matters into your own hands, here they thought they were doing a service but they were ignorant of Gods Law in regards to his anointed, although Isboseth was not anointed he was the son of the anointed and although Saul was no longer in good terms his anointing was regarded highly because it initially came from above, that is true reverance
This is another eye for an eye situation, remember when David had a chance to kill Saul he DIDN'T,he was annoited but he also knew although his FEELINGS wanted to kill him,it wasn't the way, killing someone out of hatred or made up justification got these people no where but death unto themselves, its a huge ripple affect if you think about it,you kill, another kills u,then another kills that person.
Asahel was killed by Abner by a spear under the fifth rib 2 Samuel 2:23. Abner was killed by Joab Abishai the same way because it was the way Abner killed their brother Asahel 2 Samuel 2:27, 30. Ishbosheth was killed the same way because under the fifth rib is the heart. A well known way to kill someone so as to be sure they would die.
2 Samuel 4:5-10 Principle illustrated: God delivered David from his adversaries so he could slay Saul in Ziklag. Rechab and Ba’anah stabbed and then beheaded Ishbo’sheth while he was sleeping. They brought the head to David and said “the Lord hath avenged my lord the King this day of Saul, and of his seed.” David then told them that God had already delivered him from his adversaries because he had killed Saul at Ziklag. David knew that he had been delivered from his adversaries. In a way I could imagine how David felt when he realized that his adversaries were dealt with. I actually experienced that feeling recently. I was fully committed to do well on a test I had recently and God gave me sweet victory over it! I was so happy that I wanted to start singing the “Doxology,” but I did not because I was still in class. God is so good! I love him so much.
