Verse 15: this shows the importance of personal Bible study because we can’t correctly teach someone else something that we don’t understand ourselves.

TO WILLIAM IVEY BILL, THE BIBLE HAS 3 PARTS PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE THE PAST WAS WRITTEN FOR AND TO THE JEWS, IT IS THEIR HISTORY, THAT PART IS FROM GENISIS TO THE MIDDLE OF ACTS. THE PRESENT IS WRITTEN BY PAUL TO THE GENTILES FOR JESUS. THIS PART ENDS WITH PHILEMON..THE REST IS TO THE JEWISH RELIGION AGAIN TO THE END. ALL THE BIBLE IS GOOD..WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND JESUS SAVED GENTILES BY FAITH .

    Bruce,
I agree w/you about staying in the Bible first. There's nothing wrong w/other books per se, but only after being grounded in truth. For example, there are some wonderful books on how to have a God pleasing marriage that I have read, but, as w/anything else, it needs to be filtered through the Scriptures first. As well, I have met folks who read other books solely to argue against the Bible.

MJF; I think that you try to say is, Don't be a hypocrite; i.e. putting forth a misleading appearance in order to conceal one's true nature and character. Next to that will have to be an honesty about one's own worthlessness and utter dependence on God's mercy; like the example of the Pharisee and the Publican praying in Luke 18. God loves truth; and has no respect for holier than thou impostors.

There are many false preachers, teachers and Bible scholars in the world; be "ware". Some have the gift of speech.. We must remember that the Lord is not impressed with gifts, but with those who live holy and righteous lives. Live what you teach or shut up! People need to see a living, walking, talking, loving and godly example in those professing to be holy Christian's. Put difference n life.

Luke 9:62. For,"I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shown. Gen 32:10

Cathy Cooper, strive lawfully means to compete according to the rules. Paul here is comparing the Christian walk to a race. If you cheat in a race, you are disqualified. If you sin, cheat others, etc. without repenting you will be disqualified from Heaven.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. We must keep the Faith in Christ Jesus to run the RACE.
