Put in mind that we go thourgh as people in the Bible, they prayed and listen to the word at that time. To other talking about the word of the Lord, Yet they had to listen to get an understaning. Read your word and where God is there shall be some understanding everthing will not be clear at first but we know God is good all the time after reading your bible over and over again! then reply back get your understanding it's in your word!!!

This sure puts in place those who stand on the street corner, or in front of walmart collecting for their building funds, missionaries, other "church" ministries. Gods people are to support the ministries of the local church, and not those on the street.

This is such a rich chapter but God clearly shows us here what He wants from us in our behaviour toward others and what we need to do to be pleasing to God. It is a great practical application chapter. God expects us to study God's word to get to know Him better. He warns us about becoming too focused on earthly things; V4 'the affairs of this life...'
God shows us how to be a good soldier, what our character should be like one full of grace, one that endures the knocks of life.
One that does not cause strife to another but brings peace not getting into silly discussions that lead no where but only to arguing.
Basically our focus needs to be on God and His word.

the servant of the lord should show good example so that those that do not know the lord would be encouraged by his life style, strive is of the world and the lord condems it but patience is of God and he wants his servant to have patience.

Paul is encouraging the young minister Timothy to study the word of God so that he can correctly divide the truth from error. We must flee youthful lust, and live a holy life. We must be good examples to the people that hear the word. As you teach the word you will grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We must pray for understand of his word as study his. We can not do his will with his help. If we must trust him to see us threw the bad times. people will hate us and try to destroy us for his name. We must stand his word. because it is th truth.

this is one of the first passages in the Bible that tells of the 2 programs that God set forth in the Bible. this program aimed at the gentiles..The whole Bible is good...But God has made it clear that with the anointing of Saul into Paul that he was for the first time dealing with Gentiles, thus rightly dividing the bible is important to Christians, the body of Christ. He told Iseral what to do and now he is telling the Gentiles what to do.

Those that hath prepared themselves, as a bride that hath prepared herself for her husband, Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost, Acts 2;38,after this God will know you, this is your seal, for the power is in the blood of Jesus Christ, but the Blood is in the name. If the name of Jesus is not applied then there is no remission of sin, for without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.For there is no other name given, under heaven, wherby we must be saved, but the name, jesus Christ. This is the only way you can depart from inquity. The name of the Lord is Jesus Christ, must be applied through the water, by immersion. Now are ye God's husbandman, after ye have died to sin through, the washing away of your sin in the water, in Jesus name, the sin that was brought upon the entire human race by Adam and Eve. This is the sure foundation. When you marry ye must take your husband's name, so likewise in the spirit.Everything that you do in word or deed must be done in the name of your spiritual husband, Jesus Christ.

I THINK THIS CHAPTER IS SAYING THAT YOU SHOULD STUDY THE WORD FOR YOURSELF AND USE WISDOM WHEN TEACHING THIS WORD AND NOT CHANGING THE WORD OF GOD TO FIT YOU AND HAVE FAITH IN HIM THAT HE WILL SHOW HIMSELF TO YOU. GOD BLESS

You will find your victory in vrs. 19b

This is a very important verse in regards to effective bible study. I've experience many teachings that made me feel uncomfortable, but it is very different when I learned to study the word for myself. I'm not a teacher myself, but at least I can evaluate teachings a lot more.
  • Xander on 2 Timothy 2 - 14 years ago
I think verse 15 is kinda like you say lorie stay in the word but it also means to me that we need to try as hard as possible to show god that we are faithfull in everything we do not just the word we need to be like that all the time.
  • Lorie on 2 Timothy 2 - 14 years ago
I think verse 15 is talking about staying in your word so you will have wisdom and knowledge so you can understand what he is talking about. Showing yourself approved.

What about a lawsuit to be make WHoLe on items that someone destroyed. No lawyers involved just to try to retrieve stolen property. NOTing Matt. 5:40
  • Laura on 2 Timothy 2 - 14 years ago
Divide according to the Strongs Concordance means to disect (expound) correctly, and this means that one must search the scripture - here a little there a little, line upon line precept upon precept - in order to understand the true meaning of its contents.
  • Keith on 2 Timothy 2 - 15 years ago
I think there is a lot to be considered when reading verse 15. I believe that "rightly dividing the word of truth" is speaking of the different dispensations of the Bible. Other versions of the Bible totally change this by using "handling" which makes the verse mean totally different things.
