If you don't have the Holy Spirit, you are lacking power. Your statement is false and misleading to suggest the church of today doesn't have any power. Is the Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside of you? Make it a priority in your life and you will see all things differently.

I love act because my dad teaches it he is a pastor

There remains power in the name of Jesus. It is thru our faith, study,And obedience thAt the power of Jesus is manifested I our lives. When our church stray from these principles then yes we lack the power.
  • Michael Clay jenkins on Acts 3 - 5 years ago
The Church can no longer say Gold and Silver have I none, but it also can't say in the name of Jesus Christ rise up and walk. The Church of today has NO power!

Verse 17~Even though Peter's brothers were in the wrong, he still made sure to treat them with respect and speak to them respectfully.
  • SHAUN on Acts 3 - 6 years ago
Hello, well I believe that Peter was known as a common man throughout the region. infact he was average. thus they could not fathom how "the average man" could have such authority over principalities of that nature.
Jesus on the other hand had gathered great fame and was perceived by many to be a prophet. An other reason would be that Jesus is Christ and His own people would not accept Him.
  • Joshua on Acts 3 - 6 years ago
Act 3 is deep as it revealed the miracle and power in the name of Jesus that arouse our faith in that name.
  • Arley3 on Acts 3 - 6 years ago
Rebeka if people want to sin they can believe a lie with miracles happening right in front of their eyes. "2 Thes. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." If God didn't make it this way we wouldn't see evil as a choice. God wants voluntary praise.

Why did the people marvel that Peter healed the lame man? Christ healed many people and they called him unspeakable things for his miracles. But when Peter healed the lame man they stood in awe of him. Why is that?
  • Darlene on Acts 3 - 6 years ago
It means in Acts 3:18 That Jesus the son of God was to be beat and killed for all the world sin which we all have because the sin of Adam and Eve in Genisis from the beginning of the world and Jesus took on our sins willingly for us to be able to go to heaven and his prophets were disciples that taught people the word of God to be fullfilled in the world so that Jesus would come back

Hi Tina; "But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled." Evil men can have no power to do anything they imagine except God gives it to them. God knows and understands all things, and moves them for His purposes. In the story of Joseph, he told his brothers, "ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.."

Ray;"But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Prince of life, WHOM GOD RAISED FROM THE DEAD; whereof we are witnesses." Why do you think you have to find fault with the Apostle Peter? Peter was greatly loved and appointed by Jesus!
  • Ray321 on Acts 3 - 7 years ago
Acts 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you. What's interesting is how Peter told the Jews how badly they murder Jesus , but never said anything about the resurrection of the Body of Jesus in detail. Also never said anything about Jesus being the Body of the Church. We will find later who Jesus tells about the Body of the Church .

Verse 18 tells us what Christ fullfilled. The things which were written of him that he should suffer. That is what the prophets wrote about him not that he would abolish the law of God. I always hear people say Christ fulfilled the law and now we don't have to keep the law. That is a lie! We must keep the law of God. We don't have to sacrifice anymore because Christ is our sacrifice for sin.

V.7 - this healing was a 'miracle'; a miracle healing is instant. Most healings are - just 'normal' ones, BUT - they are healings from Jesus. People may say, the meds healed me. But - meds have no power of their own; ALL power is of Jesus; His is the power in the meds. Jesus healed me of flu/pneumonia recently, but it wasn't a miracle; it took 3wks. with meds and the hosp. But- Jesus did the work.

In verse 21 the restoration of all things includes being free from death and sin and putting all things back in their proper place.

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. John 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

Psalms 74:4 Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs. 8 They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. 9 We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
  • Norm on Acts 3 - 9 years ago
Jeremiah 10:2 For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. 23:31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.
  • Carolyn Avie on Acts 3 - 9 years ago
I read this and started wondering. The part where it says that they laid the lame man at the temple door to beg for alms.Who is they? Was it the people that ran the temple, did they lay him there to exploit him for what was given to him,did they keep the alms for themselves or give it to the lame man. God healed him through Peter.I wonder if this upset the people who laid him there?
