I'm requesting prayer for myself. I am riddled with anxiety, grief from losing my father 3 years ago. Dealing with a pinched nerve. I am just tired. No one seems to get it :(

Addendum: It is true that according to Revelation; cowards will take their place in the lake of fire. We are also promised that when at trial the Holy Spirit will give us the words to speak ( Luke 12:12). We are as was said to the Corinthians the "Temple of the Spirit" ( 1 Cor. 6:19) if saved; and also He who has begun a good work in us will complete it ( Philippians 1:6).

May the Lord give you solace today. Agape. Rich P

It seems too obvious; I suppose to ask on a forum like this if you have faith in Christ and His atoning death and have confessed it to God and to men. This is the only way to truly receive and understand "agape" or unconditional love at the deepest level. I suppose the best example of an idolatrous culture is the Corinthians. There were clear moral lapses; to put it mildly there at all levels from illicit relationships; greed; pride and other vices. Paul was able to get them straightened out fairly quickly through rebuke from such a Godly concern as a parent.

I narrowly escaped being molested by a high school friend of mine. That was 40 years ago; and I found out recently that he passed away of bone cancer a number of years ago. I was also mentally abused as a child; and physically assaulted a couple of times; as well as had a lot of money and possessions stolen. Also went through a divorce with someone who claimed to be a Christian and married her lover. I was able at least to tell my dad that I loved him; and now am taking care of my parents in their advanced years while living at home.

I mention all this to say that I found through Christian counselling; prayer was perhaps the best antidote. Also; after a lot of angst during my marriage; I was given a study in the Book of James on how to be self controlled through proper spiritual disciplines; and although my life is far from perfect; the anger which would have me punch fists into walls hasn't caused me to flip out in say 10 years since I have been living on my own. The Lord has been faithful in providing me with solid fellowship; both in the past and now.

In terms of thoughts we have to realize that if we are saved; the enemy often infiltrates our minds; and we need to be able to shut him down; realizing that they often don't originate with us. He has promised to be our "front guard and rear guard" ( Isaiah 52:12; also see Psalm 91. Perfect love casts out fear ( 1 John 4:18).

Bro. Dan nice to hear from you GBU...But not all baptism is water baptism...John himself said I baptise you with water but there is one standing among you that you know not that shall baptise you with the H.G. and fire.... John 1 : 26...kjv ...So not all baptism is water baptism....And also in Matthew 19 : 28kjv...Jesus said go ye into all the world baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and H.G..The HOLY GHOST....Which is H.G. BAPTISM

.....And in Acts 11:35 Peter said Then remembered I the Words of our lord..John baptised you with water but i will baptise you with the H.G. and fire ...So Bro. Dan lots of these baptisms are H.G. baptism not water baptism....Ya gotta keep in mind that the CROSS was a new covenant in his blood....Much more precious then water baptism...

......John the bap...who gave us water baptism was preaching Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world...Not water baptism...Jesus had no sin whatsoever but to fulfill the law he had to be water baptised...Thats y the Dove descended on Jesus....According to the law of Moses 2 turtle doves had to be washed by running water....And 1 of the turtles doves had to be killed and his blood sprinkled on the living bird which is the Church....Tis was the law of moses for Sin or leprosy...Turtles doves are lovers for life which is symbolic of Christ and the Church....Husbands love you wives as Christ loved the Church and gave his life for it...ok lemme go

    4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

    5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Agape.

Hi Alex. I will just expand a bit what Bro Dan said. Yes salvation is offered to people through the sacrifice of His only begoten Son, Jesus Christ, God made a new Covenatant in Jesus' Blood. But salvation is not unconditional, There are conditions to be satisfied by people to receive it. Verse Mark 16:16 gives us the conditions required by God to give His grace "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Notice that it does't say just "believe" but "believe and be baptised". Its the same when Peter said to people gathered on Pentecost that they must repent and be baptised for the "remission of sins". Not just repent but repent and be baptised. So if God has set up those conditions, shouldn't we fulfill them? GBU

Dear Dgjot, Why would non believers gather together in the name of Jesus? I don't think they would.

Matthew 18:19 says "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."

So Jesus says that if some of us gather together in His name in order to ask God for something, God will do it. Non believers would never gather together in the name of Jesus to ask God for something since they don't believe in His existence, would they?

Now if you mean christians from denominations that don't really know much about grace, salvation, new birth...who have a vague belief in God and Jesus and eternal life and may not been born again, because the church they belong to don't teach them or teach them faulse things, I think if they are sincere about it and have faith in their hearts that God will answer, then God will actually answer back. I have met many people that although don"t really believe in God, in a bad situation in their lives when asked God for help, they received that help. God is good. "...for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust" GBU

    Good morning brother Spencer,

Yes indeed, that is a lovely verse. There are some very special words in there that I can share with you from my Greek studies. First off, Jesus says He shall give us another comforter. That word comforter is the word PARAKLETOS. It is also officially in Greek the name for the defense attorney. And in Greek concept, it means someone or something that comes along side of you to help you.

You can imagine that if you got thrown in jail, and the defense attorney came to represent you, he would stand next to you before the judge. He would represent you. That's what the comforter is. Jesus says, "I will give you another comforter."

And in 1 John 2:1-2, He is called the defense lawyer, PARAKLETOS. If you want to know what the prosecution is, it is HASETAN, the Satan. That is the official word for the prosecuting attorney, HASETAN, our adversary!

    But check this out: Jesus says I will pray the Father, and He shall give you (another) comforter. And the word "another" means another of the same kind. Another of same kind as He (Jesus) is! Notice this: in order that He may abide, (MENO), with you for ever;

My brother, how long is forever? No end! Jesus is going to send another comforter (His Spirit), and He is going to abide in us, and we are going to be a dwelling place forever! ( John 14:1-3). We have the greatest defense attorney, the greatest PARAKLETOS (Comforter), and one day when we stand before the judge (God), we're going to be covered!

There are two sciences: regular science and religious science.

One just uses our God-given perceptions to observe, measure, quantify, analyze, and is doesn't feel threatened by other input and adjusting and correcting.

The other is a religion based on false assumptions and hopes/desires of what they want to be true, then they try to build a bridge to that. For instance, they are desperate to believe that God doesn't exist, so every tiniest, most irrelevant scrap of info they consider as "evidence" towards their confirmation bias. They get very insecure and threatened by questions and other input that doesn't support their pre-desired conclusion. Example: if its a pharma product experiment that doesn't support the product, its considered failed and will try again until it seems like it "works." If its explaining the universe, it must not contain any supernatural forces from intelligence, otherwise its a failed experiment. If it doesn't directly support evolution, then it must not be a valid experiment. Conclusions already drawn ahead of time, refusing other explanations, refusing data, isn't science, it's a false religion in effort to fill their void of not believing in God.

So, a scientist claims we have "millions" of years- that sounds like a religious belief. There are plenty of scientist believers who would disagree. The religious bullies lie and claim they are all in total 100% consensus. Not true. Very divided.

"Jesus said that if some believers (no matter how many) gather in His name, then He Himself is there among them."

Is Jesus there among them even if the "believers" are believers-in-name-only? Also known as "Worldly Christians"?

Matthew 18:22 (about forgiving others) Jesus saith unto him, "I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."

Forgiving would be easy if one could FORGET the wrongs done to them.

When the wrongs done to someone play over and over in their heads, does that mean they haven't truly forgiven the offender??

I have friends who were raped. Maybe they did (try to) forgive their attacker, but do you really think they have ever forgotten for one second about that horrible incident? They never forget or get over it.

The minute one comes out of their mothers womb, everything said/not said, heard/ignored, done/didn't do, felt & thought is recorded in their memory for their entire life.

    Matthew 12:37 (Jesus speaking)

"For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Our own memories will either condemn or excuse us.

I feel like I'm living in a nightmare. I've haven't committed any (worldly) sins that are worthy of death.

I just don't know where I stand. I know that God is no respecter of persons and the righteous always suffer at the hands of the wicked.

Romans 2:13 "For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified."

    What laws? Which ones?

I look online or even out my front door and see this world swirling down the toilet. People are so blind. They don't know Jesus and don't want to. In the East Asian countries, all those people are idol worshippers. I'm sure someone has preached the Gospel to them at one time but they choose to worship their idols. Should I feel sorry for these people?

You can't force the Gospel of Christ on people who don't want it. Which is why we're supposed to set a good example.

And, setting a "good example" can get you killed. Like the Prophets, Jesus & his Apostles.

I just feel bad, like I haven't DONE enough for the Lord. I'm a coward. Always have been.

Why should God/Jesus allow a slacker like me into Heaven?

    Steve,

You state: "Paul teaches the opposite of what you said for this age Col 2:16"

    It scripture reads:

    Colossians 2:16

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:"

This scripture is a "perfect example" of being incorrectly understood. Many like you, try to use this scripture to invaladate the argument for keeping the Sabbath today.

In the period that Paul lived almost everyone ate and drank and honored and kept the holidays, and the sabbath days - including the Holy Sabbath Day. Paul was telling them to continue keeping these beliefs intact, and ignore what others are saying, and he tells them to not worry about those that may judge them for keeping these customs in place.

    Read and Believe!

    Bro Alex

You stated to Bro Giannis: "But Giannis Jesus neva commands water baptism"

I don't know what bible you are reading.it can't be the KJV! Water baptism is required!

Jesus specifically states right here in scripture that we MUST be Water Baptized!

    Mark 16:16

"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

Jesus is telling us point blank: If we want to receive Salvation we must Believe and be Baptized!

Jesus also tells us below how we must be born of water and the Holy Spirit to enter into Heaven.

    John 3:5

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Apostle Peter tells us how we will receive "The Holy Spirit

    Acts 2:38

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

We don't receive the Holy Spirit by just believing.we MUST believe and be Baptized. Period!

All of the above scripture ties everything together, and confirms what is required by Jesus/God to receive the Holy Spirt and ultimately our Salvation.

In order to believe the way that you do - you have to ignore all of this scripture!

    GB you

To be baptist in the holy ghost?

    is confession of

    your sins!

then the pastor will ask you?

do you want to recieve the holy spirit?

    and the pastor''

    lays hands on you''

    to receiving''

    the holy spirit''

    ''then you will be baptist''

    ''

Ephesians 5:18 says be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit. What that tells me is you must choose one or the other. Can't be filled with both simultaneously. As a Christian, therefore, I mustn't drink alcohol.

Jeremiah 20:1, Yeah, sad when someone of trusted positions act corrupt, cruel & evil, abusing their authority, especially in the house of The LORD our GOD! Proverbs 15:3, that's why GOD sent Jeremiah to prophecy to them. Jeremiah 1:4-19, Jeremiah 4:1-6, notice Jeremiah 20:1-6, Jeremiah 7,

    But then: Jeremiah 3:12, Jeremiah 12:15, Isaiah 51:11, Isaiah 35:10, Isaiah 44:22, Isaiah 55:7, John 3:15-21,

Even today we see hypocrisy but Jesus already knew, lived it & gave us direction : Matthew 23, Matthew 25:31-46,

    Hopefully these are helpful
