Kilts were worn since medieval times not just modern times in Scotland & Ireland . .Each clan had its own tartan colors to tell the difference between clans . Back in the day women wore long skirts or dresses ,in modern times they wear shorter skirts & dresses long skirts & dresses are for more formal occasions . Just speaking from my cultural history . Girls are permitted nowadays to wearing pants to school ,etc It wasn't permitted back when I was in school to wear pants to school except in cold weather @ first & then finally whenever. The past 15-20 years wearing shorts. I am glad to see the fad of baggy ,saggy pants showing undies seems to have past. I think this verse is speaking to modest dress & appearance . For women particularly wearing immodest attire can attract attention one doesn't want .

Matthew 5:3-12 contains what have come to be known as the Beatitudes. This title comes from the Latin word beatus, which means "blessed" or "happy." Each of the Beatitudes begins with a reference to those who are blessed, in connection to some behavior or attitude. The idea of being "blessed" in Jesus' sermon does not mean feeling happy, necessarily. Rather it means recognizing what is truly good in a person's life and why. It refers to those on the right track, who are following a godly pattern of thoughts and actions.

Jesus begins by saying that the poor in spirit are blessed. This is not a reference to money or finances. To be "poor in spirit" is the opposite of being self-confident or self-reliant, especially in any spiritual sense. The poor in spirit recognize they are incapable of providing for themselves by their own strength, goodness, or righteousness. They know themselves to be spiritually bankrupt of true goodness. They cannot hope to bargain or earn their way into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus says, though, that they are blessed because the kingdom of heaven is theirs already. In other words, admission that one does not deserve a place in God's kingdom is a requirement for entrance into that kingdom. This is the opposite of assuming one has earned citizenship by his own merit.

Even as part of a sermon from Jesus, these words need to be understood in careful context. Jesus is not teaching, in this one single verse, every detail of the plan of salvation. As He continues to teach, Jesus will be clear-and the New Testament will emphasize-that nobody comes to the Father except through faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sin.

A corresponding attitude to salvation is that of being poor in spirit. The kingdom of heaven will be populated by the humble and not the arrogant. In that way, the poor in spirit are blessed.

I don't care if people laugh at me because I can always get a "taker" trying to beat me on the Fishing Game! I like games other people bring too.

The plague (the ninth) of darkness in Egypt ( Ex. 10:21) is "described as darkness "which may be felt." It covered "all the" "land of Egypt," so that "they saw not one another." It did not" extend to the land of Goshen (ver. 23). "When Jesus hung upon the cross ( Matt. 27:45; Luke 23:44), from "the "sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the" "ninth hour." "On Mount Sinai, Moses ( Ex. 20:21) "drew near unto the thick "darkness where God was." This was the "thick cloud upon the" "mount" in which Jehovah was when he spake unto Moses there. The" "Lord dwelt in the cloud upon the mercy-seat ( 1 Kings 8:12), the" cloud of glory. There's no darkness in God. He is surrounded by clouds because of the Light and, God is a consuming Fire. We're mortal/human and cannot look upon Him and live.

"whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." Many Christians today believe in Jesus, but they conveniently overlook and or they ignore the "liveth part".

I'll say this again, it is the "liveth part" that many people ignore!

Very Important: Jesus is asking us not only to believe in Him, but to also live our lives accordingly. Meaning repenting, walking with the Spirit, and refraining from sin.

Let me give ya my slant on Mary that precious woman that was chosen to birth Christ...But Man cd not have any part in the conception of Christ as all men carried the stain and the spot of adam thus it had to be virgin birth....David said its the Lords doings and is wonderful in our eyes....God Almighty was the Absolute Father of Christ Jesus...As Christ was the living word made flesh and Blood...But Jesus wanted nothin to do with women as a lover...He had no desire to reproduce after the FLESH as...His women are the world as God so loved the world..They only refer to Jesus as the bridegroom b/c he wants to sow his seed in humanity...And under the New COVENANT Its mankinds HEARTS that is the womb where that good seed will be sown...And that good seed is the living word...Thats y he has to know us...He wants to reproduce himself in humanity....That was the great Promise when God Swore by him self that Christ wd be MULTIPLIED as the Stars of heaven...Thus an Israel of God spirits that are gonna be born in us who conceive via his seed as hearing brings faith and real faith is a pregnancy.
