    Hi Chris, just a thought..

Is it because the immaterial literal Word of God became the man Jesus, or a person of the Trinity that became man was named Word just because through this person the Word of God was revealed to people? I tend to believe the latter although many Christians tend to believe the former. GBU

    Dear David

We know really nothing apart from that incident when the 12 year old child Jesus got lost in the crowds and was found out by His parents in the Temple of Solomon. Also we know that He used to work as a carpenter like His father Joseph did. GBU.

    Dear Michael

    1) The nos. 12X12000=144000 must be symbolic, it is obvious that they can't be literal. This sort of accuracy can't be real, I guess.

    2) In Revelation 14 writes The Lamp stood on mount Zion with the 144000 with Him. Iin verse 2 writes that John heard a voice from heaven. So these 144000 with the Lamp are on earth, not in heaven.

    3) Finally my humble opinion....Revelation is written in such a way so that people who are going to live in those days will correlate the things they live with was is written and so they would know exactly what happens. One can not know or find out beforehand what is going to happen. Maybe a few things that can be clear today but still we can't imagine future facts. Example given. If the mark 666 is the Bar Code, as many claim, then who could have guessed that 40-50 years ago since it hadn't been invented yet? Second example. It writes that people who don't get the mark will not be able to sell and buy. We know now with todays technology widely used in mobiles and PCs this is possible, since cash tends to disappear and all payments are done by cards or through the internet. Could you know that 10-15 years ago? I don't think you couldn't. So it is in vane to try and guess tomorrow's events. Guesses are guesses and most often go wrong. The Revelation is written mainly for those who be left behind after rupture (my opinion) so that they know what is going to happen to them and how they can (or cannot) handle things In my opinion instead of doing that we must try to be ready to depart like the five wise virgins before all these start to happen. For those that will stay behind (I hope I will not be included) , well they will know but .. wish them good luck.

    Amen Brother Chris:

Christ reveals himself, and he is LIFE and TRUTH, to each of us in HIS appointed time.

Man (a Body) cannot exist apart firm God's Life.

It's Christ's indwelling that gives us LIFE.

Christ ascended INTO HEAVEN (the new creation).

Christ ascended into MAN, at the fight hand of the Father.

    A ONE on ONE, union.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (the ONLY LIFE) who worketh in you (HIS BODY) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Ephesians 4:6 ONE GOD and Father (the LIFE) of ALL ....

Till we all come into UNITY

    God Bless YOU!

    Hi Chris.

If you read carefully the two scriptures you will see that they are not completely indentical.

You are right that the same word "thuo" is written in both cases. It couldn't be otherwise anyway. Peter said to Jews exactly what God told him to do. "Thuo" in ancient Greek means "slay" and "sacrifice" as well. A better writting having in mind the way it is pronounced nowadays is "thyo" (theeo). Actually the only proper way according to the Law that Jews could kill an animal was by slaying it so that its blood would be drained. This was required by the Mosaic Law as Jews were not allowed to eat meat with its blood in it. GBU

Me & my wife had done months of research and consulting with pastors on the subject of 1st cousin marriage. We found that the ONLY country in the world where it is illegal is in the USA. And only illegal in 24 states, where 26 states it's legal. But our concern was with God and the written word. Some denominations believe Joseph & Mary were 1st cousins. We could find in the "list" of forbidden marriages NO mention that 1st cousin marriages were forbidden and even encouraged. We are both nearing 70, procreation not an issue.

We were married in a Methodist church, by a Methodist minister, under the eyes of God and witnesses. But we still encounter people who say it's forbidden. In fact I just ended a relationship with a good friend over this issue. I was insulted. What are your thoughts please !

Please send references from KJV only as this is the only Bible he reads.

Actual events not some parable: Job was the 3rd son Issachar ( Genesis 46:13) he would of gone down to Egypt with his father. Issachar was 40 at "the going down to Egypt" Job would have been about 20 at that time (1706 bc). We are told he lived 140 years after his double blessing 42:10. If the double blessing included length of years then his age would have been 70 + 140 = 210 (3 70's of years). His lifetime would be 1726 to1516 BC. According to this, he was born the year after Joseph was sold, and died 119 years after the death of Joseph (in 1635 BC). When Joseph died, Job was 91. If his double blessing did include length of years (little doubt that they did) then his affliction took place 21 years previously, when he was 70. When Job died (1516) Moses was 55 and had been in Midian 15 years, 25 years before the Exodus. This would account for Job being a worshiper of GOD of Abraham, and explains how Moses could have been the author of the book, and perhaps an eye and ear witness of the events it records in Midian. Time of afflictions was very quick and happened in days. The assault began Gen. 2:7 (1656 BC). The so called 3 friends were descendants of Esau; therefore contemporaries. They spoke for 40 chapters before GOD had enough and told Job to get up and quit listening to them. They accused Job of being a sinner when Job knew he did not.

Satan allowed to test Job was on earth de-facto meaning Satan was allowed to be here in his super natural state. Satan came to and fro from earth to heaven until CHRIST ordered him to get behind HIM and has been held there by Michael ever sense.

Word,G3056; W in Word is capital showing omnipototentency of GOD=Gr. logos

The divine purpose in the gospel of John is to present the LORD JESUS as GOD. This is the one great feature and difference from this gospel and the others. John's writings always point to the deity of Yeshua. Johns presentation of the LORD as having the divine attribute of omniscience, not to say the other gospels does not point to this but the Gospel of John it is much more frequent. WORD (Gr.Logos) portrayed by John as GOD - a Spirit of infinity, Eternal, Perfect, Almighty, Omnipotent. John was the disciple that Jesus loved and wrote John, 3 epistles and also Rev. -GOD giving him much insight to 1st age and the end. John always trying to get people to understand the beginning for if you don't understand what happen in the beginning all the way back in 1st earth age, you cant understand whats happening in this age. The time Satan fell from grace and convinced 1/3 of GODS created souls to fallow him. The 3 epistles of John indicate the writing was from a earlier time then gospel of John

Here and :2 supply (of the aions=ages) for the Logos then "was" and the aions were prepared by HIM (Hebrew. 1:2, 11:3

acts 11:15) supply (of our ministry) 2:4; In Phillipians 4:15 supply the proclamation of the gospel. was here- implying already pre-existed. Creation not mentioned until :3

Word had no beginning John 1:3, 17:5, 1 John 1:1, Ephesians 1:4, Proverbs 8:23, Psalms 90:2, John 8:58. not the same was as in :14

the Word Gr. Logos. As the spoken Word reveals the invisible thought, as the living Word reveals the invisible GOD. John 1:18

Dgjot , I could never hate you , you are my brother in Christ , we all get a bit rattled about the things that are going on in this world , that's a good sign ! So many people in life walk through this world not noticing any of the unfairness and injustices that take place on a daily basis , they don't notice because they don't care . I do get where you are coming from , being a Christian means being aware of what is expected of us by our God and our Saviour , we need to be doing right in their eyes , it's not about who we are being kind to , it's about the fact that we are doing what we know is the right thing to do regardless if our act is appreciated by this world , that doesn't matter , what matters is keeping our hearts and minds attuned to Christ and the example that he set us . Do right by him , it doesn't matter what anyone thinks about us , it only matters that we do what we know is the right thing to do in God's eyes . Much love to you in Christ .

When it comes to Mary pouring oil on Jesus's head , I wanted you to take notice of Judas's attitude , that passage isn't just there to tell us about the woman and what she did , it's also there to tell us about Jesus's reaction to her act and the reaction of Judas and what he did immediately afterwards . Read it all carefully . That passage gives us an insight into Judas's mind set , his way of thinking , is that our way of thinking ? Mine ? Yours ? Should any Christian take the same attitude as Judas ? I'm not going to do any more with this conversation , if you have read the Bible you should know what is expected of you in this world , you should have an understanding of the heart and mind of Christ and how it should be working in us every day . I struggle too at times , being a good person doesn't always come naturally to me , it's when I'm struggling that I let Christ take over me and through him I can do better .

Fully agree, brother. I think that sometimes we see this 'ultra-spiritualizing' not simply as a careless misunderstanding of Truth, but something much deeper & sinister. Instead of allowing the Word of God to teach us, fill us & challenge us, some do it in reverse: they come to the Word of God with their errant beliefs, alter the very fabric of the biblical message to suit & then promulgate it as Truth, as from enlightened hearts & minds.

Thus we get false foundational beliefs such as, only death being God's Judgement of the wicked & Heaven for the righteous; re-birth doesn't happen in this life but in readiness for the next; the preaching of the Gospel takes a back seat as God will accept all people, though some form of cleansing (purgatory) might be necessary; & one I read recently, that the whole Bible is written as a parable or maybe, allegorically. We can only pray that believers everywhere will attend to the Word as given, be taught by the Holy Spirit, & thus discern between Truth & error. This very same matter was brought up at our Lord's Day meeting during 'Teaching Time', as an evident evil permeating the Church - how we must strive for the Truth & stand only on the pure unadulterated Word of God.

The Lord bless you brother in your meditations & submissions here.

Thanks Giannis. I see that the Greek word, thuo, is used in both instances ( Acts 10:13 and Acts 11:7). How do you differentiate between the two Scriptures using the same word? Or, am in error to read, the same word, thuo?
  • Chris - In Reply - 2 years ago
Yes, you're correct Gene. We have "kill & eat" in Acts 10:13 & "slay & eat" in Acts 11:7. As sister Kay has written, both words mean the same as is also found in the Greek.

If you go to the 'More' tab at the head of this Site's webpage, then you will find the 1611 KJV in there. If you want to read other versions of the Bible, reading a particular verse in multiple translations, I use Biblehub dot com.

Hi Mister David. Your Ephesians reference indeed shows that Jewish & Gentile believers are joint heirs to the Kingdom of God (by Jesus' Blood the middle wall of partition has been broken between us, verses 13, 14).

And as far as I can gather, even these 'believers in Christ', as also foreigners, are able to buy land in Israel. Though tax implications are different between the Jew & the foreigner. Can you cite where you learned that this is not so?
  • Chris - In Reply on John 1 - 2 years ago
Hi Antony. This passage in John chapter 1 is actually self-explanatory, though difficult to understand with the human mind. I'm sure you've read the whole passage from verse 1 to verse 14 especially.

The subject in these verses is The Word. The Word always existed because God always existed. The Word therefore was an intrinsic part of God, therefore the Word was God (not 'a' God, but the spoken declared Word existing & emanating from God): verse 1.

A further description of the Word from within God in verse 2. Everything was made according to this Word and in verse 3, this Word from God was capable of giving Life & Light to mankind. The Word that proceeds out of man is limited to only conveying our thoughts & feelings to someone else. Our limitation is because of our humanity. God is not human, so His Word (and His Spirit) have no limitations like we have - God can use His Word as He Wills & form His Word as He Chooses.

Then to verse 14 which refers back to this Word of God. God in His Wisdom & Plan, chose to take His Word and give it flesh (i.e. to clothe His Word in humanity). This is where it becomes difficult to comprehend: how can something immaterial like a Word be made into a human? Maybe in the same way that God can take a Seed & place it in a woman to bring forth a human baby ( Matthew 1:18-21), or God appearing to Abraham in another form with two others ( Genesis 18:1,2). All things are possible with God & our lack of understanding of His Power & His Ways shouldn't stop us from believing & accepting His Wonders.

So, as John 1:14 declares, that Word of God was made human, seen & touched by others, the begotten of God, named Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus is still the Word of God, made flesh for His Ministry & Sacrifice on Earth, but now risen into Heaven, seated at His Father's right Hand ( Hebrews 10:11,12). The Word that came out of God's Being, made flesh, & now risen as the glorified Man Christ Jesus, fully Divine, interceding for us ( 1 Timothy 2:5).

Hi Elliott. You can read about this matter in 1 Corinthians 7:1-9, where the Apostle Paul is answering a specific question posed to him. We don't have the details or questions posed from the Corinthian Church's side, but from what Paul states, he indicates that it is preferable to remain unmarried, just as he was, but each person "hath his proper gift from God", whether to be unmarried or married (v7).

As I mentioned, we're unclear what prompted Paul to address this matter in the way he does, as any number of reasons such as "the present distress" (v26, tribulation or persecutions to the believers), or even the added responsibilites that come with marriage that may be a barrier to fully serving the Lord (v32,33), could be considered. But Paul never forced this instruction upon them, since in the same chapter he encourages godly faithful marriage if entered into. But his personal preference for living in that society & in their situation, would be to remain unmarried as God enabled them or called them to.

Hi Phoenix. There are several Scriptures, where both God & Jesus use the phrase "I Am". But it's special reference is given in Exodus 3:13-15, when Moses asks God what name should he use when he speaks to the Israelites caught in Egyptian bondage. By this time, the Israelites had long forgotten the LORD or may have some recollection of Him from stories handed down. So Moses realizes that this question will likely come up, asking, "Who is this God that has sent you to us?" Could this God be some Egyptian god?

God then tells Moses that He is the "I AM THAT I AM", or loosely translated, "I Am (what I have always been & always will be), the One who is Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, Self-Enduring.

God then tells Moses to tell the Israelites that "The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." So now they will also know that this Eternal God was also the One Who was with their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob. Hopefully, now they begin to piece it all together & know that God is no local deity, but the LORD (YHWH), the God who was not only with their fathers, but also to be with them now, to deliver them with a mighty Hand & an outstretched Arm ( Deuteronomy 26:8).

Have I ever been Homeless? No. I worked to put a roof over my own head. Many times I took in homeless, jobless friends and supported them until they could get on their own feet. I got nothing out of it except my bank account emptied and my house ruined. Then they left and I never saw them again. Where were they all the times I went hungry or couldn't pay my bills or was sick??? (crickets)
