    Hello Giannis,

I believe the Bible says that God swept away the ancient world in the flood. It seems from what I have read that the surface of the earth was re-shaped. I think that, rather than being a very primitive society, that the ancient world was very advanced. Adam and Eve would have been the pinnacle of human intelligence and their progeny would also be genetically intelligent, creative and able to, in just 1600 years or so to develop their world in a very advanced way. Considering that the average life span of these first generation was about 900 years, each person would have 10 times more time than any of us to develop their ideas and the collective knowledge shared among those of the same generation and passed on to the next would have been very incredibly amazing. They were smeltering metal just a few generations from Adam (See Tubal-Cain) and building cities early on.

As to the Nephilim, I just don't think we really know how they were generated. As the term "sons of god" could denote angels or believing humans. None of these Nephilim survived the flood to make a history for themselves. So, there is so much we do not know about the time before the flood. God wanted it to be that way, for good reason. But there must have been something very extraordinary about them, as the text seems to say.

After the flood, Noah and his sons had to start from scratch again, even more so than Adam and Eve since the surface of the earth was so ruined by the flood. It was the generations after Noah that were so primitive. These first generations of Noah had to start from scratch, even more so than Adam and Eve, because the surface of the earth was in ruins after the flood and because all of the infrastructure of the pre-flood earth was gone. Noah and his sons certainly would have had skills learned from their pre-flood years, but not the materials to use for those skills yet, nor was there the man-power of beast-power to use for accomplishing grand designs.

Not an Idol , but a symbol for true followers .

The cross is an upright stake, hence a cross (the Rom. instrument of crucifixion)

[The "cross" Mark 8:34 is not a symbol for suffering in general. Rather it refers to withstanding persecution (difficult times), by the Lord's power, as He directs the circumstances of life. As Christ's disciples, believers are to hold true - even when attacked by the ungodly.]

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27

The cross is a symbol for Christ followers , used figuratively for the (sacrifice) each believer bears to be a true follower .

    Dear RonLor,

Jesus spoke of many parables concerning this topic. One of them was when the Son of God sowed a field with good seed, and the devil came and inter-sowed his bad seed in the same field (the earth throughout the ages). The wheat and the tares grew up. Jesus said that the tares were not to be weeded out before harvest because some of the wheat would inevitably be plucked out before it was ready to be reaped. Then Jesus said that both will grow together until the angels come to harvest the souls of the Kingdom of God from the souls of the kingdom of the devil. This will happen at the end of the age. The tares will be harvested and gathered out of His (God's) Kingdom and thrown into the fire. Then the righteous souls will shine forth as the sun in the Father's kingdom. See Matthew 13:36-43.

So, from this parable that Jesus explained to the disciples. Evil, the devil and his angels, and those who are wicked and unsaved will continue to be in the world with believers until the end when Jesus returns.

I would like a prayer for my daughter, I PRAY TO HAVE HER BACK IN MY LIFE. I have not touched my daughter or seen her since she was 4 shes now 14. My "family" wont let me even touch her or talk to her and it hurts. I can't even text her cause i dont know if it is really her. I BELIEVE THEY USE HER FOR THEIR MONETARY GAIN TO CONTROL ME.

I pray to God day in and day out, Ive argued with my family about how they get to talk to her and see her and text her but when it comes to me, all they ask about is, have I paid my child support?

Hello Robert, The Hebrew people descended from Eber (sometimes called Heber) who was the great grandson of Shem through Arphaxad and then Salah.. Genesis 10 shows the Table of Nations that descended from Noah's sons Shem, Japheth and Ham. Genesis 11 speaks more about the descendants of Shem from which came the name Semite.

The Hebrew people included many peoples descended from Eber. He had two sons, Joktan (had 13 sons) and Peleg. he had other sons and daughters also. The lineage of Peleg is the line from which Abraham descended. So. Abraham and his lineage were but one of many lines from Eber. So, there were and are many Hebrew peoples that did not descend from Abraham. Yet God chose Abraham out of all the descendants of Noah to select out a specific subgroups of Hebrews to be His chosen people to covenant with.

In the world today, there are people who descended from Shem, Ham, or Japheth. Many are a mix of these lineages over the generations. We are not all Hebrews due to this.

    Hello Adam

About the giants and the Nephillim described in the Bible my thouhts are:

    1. They can not be hybrids of angels or demons. Those are spiritual creatures, they can not mate with material creatures. We don't have the same nature, the same DNA,etc, etc. Besides that angels have not got a sex, male or female, there is no need for that. They don't reproduce.

    2. They can not possibly be hybrids of humans and aliens. Even if we accept that aliens do exist, what makes you think that they can mate with humans and have children with them? Are they supposed to have the same DNA, are they supposed to be exactly like us and have the same reproductory organs? OK let's assume you are right about it. Where is any evidence about them? Haven't they left anything to be discovered by archeology? An iphone. a tablet, something ... (trying to be funy)? Surely they would have left some things for us to discover them later, but nothing of an advanced technology has ever been found. And when they came on earth and had children with humans, have they also left their advanced life and adopted the primitive style of life they found on earth? So they got rid of their weapons, their medicine, their transportation means and everything else they had and lived like primitive people? I think the opposite should had happened, they should had communicated their advanced knowledge to the earthians to help them with their medicine, with anything they had to make our lives easier. That is the normal thing to do, not the opposite.

Ancient people were clever. Do not admire about those findings like the crop circles you said. The ancients have built amazing massive structures like the pyramids with just levers and pulleys, mostly with wooden tools (only copper was available at that time and copper is a very soft metal). In the pre-Columbian Americas the Indians also constructed amazing pyramids when the use of metals was not known at all to them. So do not wonder about these constructions.

Dear Micheline, I am so sorry to hear that your daughters are being groomed into this lifestyle of sin. I will certainly pray for them.

Dear Heavenly Father, we ask that You immediately rescue these two young women from homosexuality. Sever their connection with those in this lifestyle, with those who affirm them in this lifestyle, and any adults that are encouraging them to "try this out" either by explicit teaching in school, or by the media, or by the current social pressures. But especially, Father, Sever them from the grip of the devil who is working on entrapping them in this sinful lifestyle that destroys so much in those who pursue it.

Father, these women grew up with You in their lives. Restore them to sound faith and love for You and Your ways. Hold them in Your saving care and cause them to turn back to You and repent. Father, we ask that You comfort Micheline as their parent. Guide her in her ways with her daughters so that she will reflect You, Your goodness, Your love, and your holiness.

We ask these of You, Father, as we stand in the gap for these women, asking in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Where in the Old Testament talks about Jesus?
  • Jesse - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 3 years ago
    Juanita,

Colossians 3:2 is where we find this. But it starts with Verse 1. It starts out by saying, if you then be risen with Christ,

The word "if" used here is a first class condition assumed to be true. It is literally translated since.

Since you then are risen with Christ, seek those things (There's your command) which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.

The verb tense is continually seek the things above, the things of heaven, and not the things on the earth.

So we have to ask the question, what am I seeking? Every morning when I get up, I'm seeking something. Most of the time it's in the human. We're told that we are citizens of the kingdom of heaven, and we're to seek the things of Christ, not the things of the earth.

In Matthew Chapter 6, Jesus said be not anxious for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, or what you shall put on. And He explained that man cannot serve two masters.

And in that verse, He explains that God has created every human being to only have the capacity to serve one thing, God or mammon, one or the other. You can't serve both.

And so He says in Matthew 6:33, seek first the kingdom of God, and all these other things that you need will be added to you. You don't have to seek them. In other words, if you don't have it, you don't need it. You might want it, but you don't need it.

So the command under motivation is seek those things which are above. The place is heaven and the person is Christ!

Verse 2 says, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

Again, continually set your affection. And the word affection has to do with the frame of mind. This is the disposition of the mind, the attitude, the approach to life. Have a frame of mind that is set on things above and not things on the earth.

    Hope this helps!

    Chuck Missler Part 3.

The Lord's displeasure to Laodicean "lukewarmness" is in stark contrast to a note that was found in the room of an anonymous African martyr:7

I'm part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His.

I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colourless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity.

I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labour by power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear.

I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, shut up, or let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problems recognizing me-my banner will be clear!

    End.

If we are to be ambassadors for Christ! as pilgrims and sojourners we are to take care of the business of Christ in a foreign land. The business of Christ when manifested should shine light on Christ.

We can't do that as a lukewarm Church.

    More on this later.

    God bless.

Chuck Missler Part 2 of 3.

We can't help but notice the silent exodus of people slipping out the back doors of many churches almost unnoticed: attracted but not retained; interested but not inserted into fellowship; touched but not transformed. They looked in briefly but were disappointed in what they saw. We also notice that many serious believers shun the label "Christian"; they meet during the week in study groups but have not found a Sunday fellowship they find fruitful or challenging.

It is relevant to recognize that our present concept of "church" is a product derived from 4th century politics. It ought to be obvious to even the casual observer of history that the real story of the church is not the one recorded in secular history.4 Who were the Waldensians? The Lollards? The Stundists? The Anabaptists? The Priscillians? The Bogomilians? Petrobusians? Patarenians?

These names were given by their enemies to those who claimed only the name of Christ, and who were prepared to suffer for His cause rather than submit to those man-made traditions that they believed contradicted the Word of God. These were independent fellowships that were outlawed and persecuted. Those intrepid believers, "of whom the world was not worthy," were not only persecuted by civil authorities, they were denounced, defamed, and decimated by the professing church.

While many of us may have some awareness of the history of tensions between the Roman Catholics and the Protestants, it may come as a shock to discover that Protestant leadership also persecuted deviant groups who attempted to adhere to Biblical doctrines.5 And some still do. As we approach the "end times," our Lord admonished us: " Revelation 3:19-21"

Notice that the Lord is outside the Laodicean door, knocking! And His call is to the individual. How insightful

The Lukewarm church and its effects.

As a reminder these posts are in view of a revival in the Church to be a light to any nation with 1 Peter 4:17 and Revelation Ch 2 and Ch 3 in mind.

Here is an article from the late Chuck Missler.

    Chuck Missler Part 1.

These seven letters constitute "report cards" of the performance of each church, containing commendations and admonitions regarding needed correction: "good news" as well as "bad news." And, apparently, each church is surprised. Those who thought they were doing well, were not. Those who thought they weren't doing so well were encouraged and doing better than they knew. (Each of these letters gives us insight and food for introspection.)

However, two of them have no good news at all: Sardis and Laodicea. Sardis is dead; "Christian" in name only.2 Unfruitful denominationalism, apparently.

Regarding Laodicea, Jesus is really sick of "lukewarm" Christianity. He is about to vomit: " Revelation 3:16"

They think they are "rich and in need of nothing," but are actually "miserable, poor, blind, and naked." That's about as graphic and antithetical as you can get.

There are many who lay the blame for the astonishing and sinister years of the Holocaust in Germany in the 1940s at the feet of the silent pulpits in Germany. Let's take stock of ourselves: Why is the divorce rate among Christians no better than among unbelievers? Is the "Gospel" preached in your church? Can you even define it? ( 1 Cor 15:1-4). What is the status of Biblical literacy in your fellowship? Is there an effective program underway to improve it? (We could continue to explore the impending enslavement of America, but that's a topic for another article!)

The key word here is worship.

    Tiffany,

I John was written to combat the beginnings of Gnosticism. Gnostic is from the Greek word that means knowledge.

The Gnostics claimed to have special knowledge that no one else could know unless they were one of the initiated ones.

These false teachers and teachings arose from within the church.

Gnostic doctrine was based on dualism which asserted that physical matter was inherently evil and spirit was good.

At the time John was leading the churches in Asia, Gnosticism had two main groups.

    1. Docetics taught that Jesus's physical body was not real but only seemed to be physical. This is known as asceticism from a Greek word that means "to appear."

    2. Cerenthians taught that Christ's Spirit descended upon the human Jesus at his baptism, but left him just before the crucifixion.

The main teaching about Jesus from this movement denied the Lord's humanity in order to support the Lord's sinless nature.

Is there something specific that you are looking for in 1 John?

Hi Robert, have you read about the Tower of Babel?

    Link

Given that God both (1) created/distributed languages into different people groups, then (2) scattered those people groups across the world, I don't think its unreasonable to believe that God that may have also (3) created/modified their race even though it isn't stated.

Russians speaking Russian while living in Russia and looking like Russians seems logical, as well as Thai people speaking Thai, living in Thailand, and looking like Thai, and Egyptians speaking Egyptian, living in Egypt, and looking like Egyptian. The language, location, and appearance are intertwined in each culture. This is my opinion. I realize that some believe the 8 people aboard Noah's Ark were "diverse" enough to create all the people's groups today, but I believe it occurred at the Tower of Babel and just wasn't stated, just like the Land of Nod in Genesis wasn't stated in how it came to be. God bless.

    Hi.

    Here's part 2 of 2.

Jesus said in John 14:15 if you love me, you will keep my commandments. When we experience God's love, His Spirit causes us to love. Perfect love is brought to its completion by receiving Christ.

I concur with this brother because it was and still is a view I had before I heard it from him.

It's Agape! You can't produce it, it's a fruit of the Spirit, you only can bare it by being connected to the true vine. Or genuine vine. "Christ."

God bless and welcome to the site.

    Hi.

I concur, to have the ability to love him with all your heart, soul and strength is to abide in him and him in you.

I would like to share what a brother shared to us previously.

    Part 1 of 2.

Perfect love is love that has come to its completion. In other words, God's Spirit in us gives us perfect love. 1 John Chapter 4, Verses 7-21 talks about the completion of the love of God.

1 John 4:7 says let us love one another. We are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. But how do we do that unless God's Spirit in us gives us the capacity to do so? It's interesting that what we call the two greatest commandments are not even written in command form in the Greek text.

When it says "let us," in the King James, that's not a command. That is Subjunctive Mood. We will be loving one another. Why? Because God's Spirit in us gives us the capacity to love. It's a statement of fact, not a command. We cannot produce agape love, only God can. It's His Spirit that causes us to love. That's what it means to have perfect love, for God is love.

We see the character of God's love in 1 John 4:9-10. God sent His Son to be a propitiation for our sins. He met all the requirements that God has for us for the punishment and penalty for our sins. That's love!

Verse 11 tells me that God loved me so much that He sent His Son to die for me. I am indebted to my brothers and sisters in Christ to function and walk in the love of God. In Verse 16, he's making the statement because God is love. Therefore if He dwells in me, then I have perfect love in my spirit.

Verse 18 says there is no fear in love; but perfect love, that is, love brought to completion, casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect, or complete in love.

He's talking about the motive for obeying God. Some people obey God because they are afraid. Those who have the Spirit of God, and have matured and understand about the love of God, they do things because they love Him.

    See Part 2.
