It isn't written by direct inspiration of God but is a TRANSLATION which shows; in general respect and is an accurate REPRESENTATION of what was in the original Greek; Aramaic and Hebrew languages.

Apparently; from my limited knowledge on the subject King James actually wasn't a very big fan of the Bible but allowed for what is a decent translation. I believe from what I heard that the Apocrypha was in some of the original editions. Clearly; there were earlier editions such as the Geneva Bible from the 1500's and the Tyndale (whose author was murdered apparently).

The Catholic Bible apparently was written about the same time period (I am not sure of all the accuracy or lack thereof of the Douay Rheims) except to say there appear to be some doctrinal issues and of course the Apocrypha which IS not inspired text is included. It should be noted that even Catholic commentators will admit this fact; but also justify the bizarre additions to such books as Daniel with a wild story about dragons and such after chapter 12.

I would even state that ANY version of the Bible even copies of manuscripts are not guaranteed 100 percent the inspired Word of God as it was in the ORIGINAL manuscripts which WERE 100 percent accurate. What I am saying here is that there are different COPIES of manuscripts; some of which may have sections added or missing (such as part of the text about the woman caught in adultery at the end of John 7 and beginning of John 8). Since we only have copies of the original text this happens on occasion as well as details about the number of people killed in certain battles; for instance. That being said there is no reason to suspect that anything is false in these different manuscripts and these are mainly trivial issues.

When we can find cross references which we do in almost all scripture we can be certain that the meanings of the original writings are preserved. In the original TORAH every LETTER had to be the same in a new copy.

    Bennymkje,

    Thank for your reply.

I agree with you that the entrance of women into the workforce consequently caused much dissatisfaction in marriage on both husbands and wives which has led to many divorces. I do not think it is wrong for women to work outside the home, rather, as you said, to have a prideful attitude over the husband. And I think it is wrong for a husband to be arrogant, demanding, and controlling towards his wife.

I think that every married couple needs to guard their marriage from sinful influences that come from without their marriage to include improper relationships with the opposite sex. Also, when people do not stand in firm agreement with what the Lord has said about divorce and remarriage, it is much more tempting to separate, divorce and enter a new relationship that leads to remarriage.

And every married couple in Christ should guard their marriage from internal influences that are destructive to the harmony and love in a marriage. We are to do what is beneficial to our marriage rather than destructive, what builds each other up rather than tear at each other that leads to the breakdown of our love and commitment to each other.

Some of us on here have undergone divorce and, believing what Jesus has said, choose to remain single. I commend them for this. The marriage between my husband and I is healthy and loving. We have been married 44 years. I am thankful for this.

Straight answer please - Is the King James Bible written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in other words, by God, or is it not?

    Hello Jema,

I would say that my favorite prophet is David because of the Psalms that God inspired him to write. The Psalms have been a continual help to me in many ways.

Like all of us, David was a sinful person, but God said of David that he was a man after God's own heart. That is how I want to be.

In the psalms, this heart for God is shown so well.

If God had not elected David since before creation, he would have been a different man altogether. But God, in His wisdom, chose David and you and me. We are forever blessed because He chose us.

    Hi Momsage,

I shall only explain the point you make, "I'm still wondering what your purpose is for using corrupt versions? To me, if you use them, you trust them to be accurate, even if what they say is different from what God's translation says," All scripture is God breathed. The writers in Greek themselves were not handling classic Greek that one may expect from Plato or any other masters. "The New Testament was written in a form of Koine Greek, which was the common language of the Eastern Mediterranean" areas. God could make it work because it is the Spirit that intercedes "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God,"as St Paul eloquently explains in this vv.27-28. Not only with prayers but also in grasping the word of God. So truth written in our inward parts must help to go beyond the literal. Those who are the hard nuts who would rather win what they believe and not believe that they are 'the called according to his purpose' They fail because their ear of faith is shut out.

The parable of the rich fool Luke 12:13-21 in any version can only mean one thing. KJV is not saving any because it is accurate and others are corrupt. Hypocrisy of the Pharisee was in their insistence on the outward appearances. They did not enter therein to believe the doctrine of Jesus. "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God." we ought to look at the word of God beyond Sabbath and such like baggage, in the light of our Savior. May God help you to the truth.

Who is your favourite prophet ? How do you feel about king David ? He was so much a flawed human and yet loved God so much .

I actually like Proverbs. There is so much wisdom there and just plain Godly common sense and advice. Some I'm still struggling to understand, though. I like there are 31 chapters, also. I read a chapter a day for several months. I don't know what distracted me away from it, but I'm going back to it. Thank you Jema for reminding me with your question. :).

I will give a reply to your other comment soon.

    God Bless :)

Thank you for your explanation of what you meant by the scriptures you used and I am not offended, although it may sound that way sometimes, I'm just frank. I hope I haven't offended you.

I'm still wondering what your purpose is for using corrupt versions? To me, if you use them, you trust them to be accurate, even if what they say is different from what God's translation says. I thought this was a KJB only discussion forum. I thought, which I guess I was wrong, that using other versions was frowned upon and discouraged. Very naive of me. It's discouraging, but I'll just have to look up any verses used without a link to that verse to be sure it's the KJB which is good for me. Sometimes I can tell but not always.

    God Bless :)

"And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast." 1 Samuel 25:6 KJV

I pray for Jessica's peace, that the peace of God will surround Jessica right now and always. I pray for peace with Jessica's family and that God, neutralize all negative behaviors, right now in Jesus Christ Name. I pray that peace be multiplied and that the God of peace cease and desist anything that is not pleasing to Him in this situation. I pray that God pours His peace, love and healing in this situation. Jessica has the peace of God, right now, in Jesus the Christ's name I pray.

"So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him." Isaiah 59:19 KJV

Lift up the standard and send the angels, Jesus. Peace. Amen.

In the Name of Jesus, God, you know all things and God, you know all things about this situation. God, you know the matter in its fullness. I am asking you, God, what EVER that what EVER is, that you make a way. Also, that this beloved of God stand on the following scriptures:

"For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." Mark 11:23 KJV

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24 KJV

I say to you beloved of God...do you want this? only believe.

"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." Mark 11:25 KJV

"But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:26 KJV

"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Matthew 6:12 KJV

Beloved, when in life we find ourselves in situations, the believer always does a forgiveness check, ask God and believe. Beloved, when you request forgiveness its just that simple to ask and believe and God is faithful to accept and grant forgiveness because He is good and instructs us to forgive.

God is always standing by to help you in each and every way, don't be afraid, whatever you need God's got it. God is there for you. God wants fellowship with you. God has called you or is calling you, yes you to walk with Him. To try Him and take Him at His word.

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27 KJV

God is able to make a way for you. Believe God in your heart, open your eyes and allow God's holy spirit to lead and guide you in a right way.

In Jesus Name, I pray peace. Amen.

    "Disciple" (2 of 2)

A disciple is one who has but one master. Elisha condemned Gehazi for running after other man's riches. "Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes?"(2 Ki.5:26). "Not I but Christ who lives in me"( Gal. 2:20)

Without eating of the bread from heaven and the faith that he shall live forever as he is, by way of witnessing, what disciple is he? "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us."( 1 John 2:19). Wisdom of the word must have its perfect working. (Matt.7:24). Serving God and mammon is how Gehazi proved his discipleship. St Paul proved the man was the message.

Seventy other disciples ( Luke 10:1) is how discipleship is perfected so ripple effect of Christ, the Man the message would spread outwards. "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth./... and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." How Gospels of St Matthew and St Luke treats discipleship is in keeping with the supremacy of the Word which was God. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."
  • Bennymkje - 9 months ago
    "Disciple" (1 of 2)

Jesus chose 12 disciples to indicate his ministry was of the Servant-King, as Son to his heavenly father.(See under N-numbers, command)

Principle of Association established a new order where it was enough that a servant was an associate as his master "It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord".(Matt.10:25;40)

    (See under S- servant)

Discipleship is a loaded word. It is not simply delivering doctrine of God to the world as heard of him. As associates of Jesus Christ it was the Life, which as Jesus declared was his logos aspect. Not only the Word but of the Son. One sign of their adequacy came when they could enter into the heart of the parables." His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God."( John 16:29-33) Their growth was begun when they stayed on trusting. "Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.( John 6:67-68)

Jesus declared that his doctrine was not of his own but that of his Father. He established the cardinal principle of discipleship: Man is the massage. Jesus set an example and he promised a double portion because he was going to his father.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father."( John 14:12)

    (See under D-double )

    Hi Gigi,

"And they shall be one flesh".Marriage is honorable as it makes both man and woman as one. "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."(He.13:4) In the modern context when women have become equal as wage earners marriage is on a slippery ground especially when one spouse is determined to flout the sacrament. If the other for his/her conscience sake would seek separation it is tricky. "Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ." Good conversation in Christ in my opinion is what determine in such cases. (1 Pe.3:16)

    Hi Momsage,

Just a thought. Vanity as used by the preacher the meaninglessness of life without Christ is what quote from the Psalm 62 I intended to make a point.

Leaving it aside consider it now according to the context. "Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity."In other words "The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all."(Pr.22:2) vanity referred there is the manner rich treats the poor shabbily because they have the means. Vanity of riches fund their oppression. The following verses make it clear. "Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them./God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God." The so-called money power to buy judges when the rich are called before the law" is what it refers. Both rich and poor when they hit the dust we have the 'vanity' as used by the preacher.

The whole point of my post was on the topic of 'degree' not scholarly degree, please not Momsage but the degree the sun casts on the face of a sundial.

Understand from the above-mentioned quote why 'God has spoken once; twice have I heard?" Doctrine of God is heard by ear of faith by every heart it is to which the Psalmist refers. You and I must hear well before we judge.

    With joy and peace,

    Hello,

Asking for prayer for me as I go in tomorrow to do an ultrasound of my neck and thyroid. There was a nodule on the thyroid a few years back and it is time for a re-check to see it's status as to how it looks, whether it has remained the same size, etc. Please pray that all is just fine with this gland. Thank you for praying for me.

    Richard,

It seems that most churches now a days are accepting of remarriage after divorce and many pastors do perform these remarriages "in the sight of God". I have heard the rationale for this as that the people are repentant and so their marriage is not adulterous, which doesn't make sense at all if they are still sexually involved with each other in the remarriage. It is such a touchy subject in the church now a days and most people won't speak about how Jesus prohibited re-marriage in most cases. Jesus mentioned about how the law of Moses allowed for divorce because of the hardness of men's hearts. It seems that the hearts of so many believers today are even more hardened to the will of God in these matters but soft-hearted towards God in so many other areas of their lives. May people be found to have a willingness to "go it God's way" in matters of marriage.

I hope you have a good evening. I was out delivering soups to people and just got home. I am always happy to pray for you, Richard.

There are six (6) things the Lord hates and the 7th is an abomination. In my reply I want to try and unpack, if you will, each one separate replies. "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:" Proverbs 6:16 KJV

    The next verse entails:

"A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood," Proverbs 6:17 KJV

A cross reference scripture to this verse:

"Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight." Proverbs 12:22 KJV

In this scripture verse, God informs man to be truthful in dealing with all others and especially God, since God knows all things and knows when man is being truthful. God informs man to be fair to others. Man shouldn't lie to others to get the advantage or to gain a sense of superiority over others, which could result in having a proud look due to an inward feeling of being puff up, creating a feeling that one is better than the other. When humanity finds itself having the need or want of being better than others then this is when the believer needs to ask God for help, for deliverance from the desire to feel better than others. Its a feeling and its also deceptive because no one is better than the other. Having gifts, abilities and callings does not make one better than the other. Since God blesses man with these gifts they are to be used to help others for the glory of God and not man get the glory for what God has endowed. God has a righteous way of using man to work His good works through others. The Holy Spirit given by God can deliver man from lying to himself and deliver Him from also from lying to others.

I hope this reply will be prayerfully received. Peace be multiplied, in Jesus Name, Amen.

    Gee thanks.

As I always say at church looking forward to being with the Lord if He comes before the next time we meet; and everyone else second if we are still here. Friends are hard to come by in this life; I am fortunate to have at least one praying for me daily; and others quite frequently in my behalf. Your steadfastness; again is something I treasure. I have seen; for instance since I left a church where I used to live a few years back NO one try to contact me except for the one friend that led me to another church where I fellowshipped until I came here to live with my parents. I brought up what seemed like a trivial issue to my Pastor and they probably didn't want to talk with me after that. I have seen people fall away; including one guy who literally used to weep over the state of the lost and spend as much time every week praying as he did witnessing (almost 10 hours) when working full time and supporting a family. Then he separated from his wife and acted very cruel in supporting her and his 4 or 5 kids. My best friend in High Schoo who led me to pray with him and his mom in 1982 to come to faith after multiple efforts showed no interest in getting together with me when I told him I was coming to visit. That could have something to do with the Pastor of the church his mom attends. I was looking for a church at the time and when a stranger asked the Pastor on the way out how his divorce was doing (i.e. proceeding) I realized that this wasn't the church for me. Maybe he didn't get it.

That subject of course is one of contention as I don't believe in divorce and remarriage for any reason if a spouse is alive but even if we accept the "exception clause" as meaning adultery I was in a church with another Pastor that was remarried after apparently having some substance abuse and other issues with his first wife. I feel that is my mission as a subject but can't force my view here as stated before on the subject.

    Anyway God bless.

    Rich P.

Lee the follower , just read your testimony and thoroughly enjoyed . Glad to hear you are on the straight and narrow , as for those whispering behind your back , bear them no ill will . Jesus knocked at your door and you opened it . Where will those whisperers be when Christ returns to take you to himself and bring you into his Father's Kingdom ? Keep your eyes on the prize and know that you are never alone , God sees you , don't give a second thought to what atheists and idolators think of you . He who knows you best wants you with Him , rejoice and stay strong in His love .

Today I finished reading Daniel , chapter 11 blowing my mind...again :) . Then I read Joel and Zephaniah , both very exciting if slightly scary books . I can't pick the best bits out of Joel because it's all fab but especially Ch 3 V 9-21 . Zephaniah is also all fab but certain verses always jump out at me every time I read them , Ch 1 V 4-6 especially V 6 . All of Ch 2 and all of Ch 3 . Very appropriate books to be reading at this time I think . Any thoughts on these books anyone ? Thy Kingdom Come .

    Hi Richard,

This is an interesting and perplexing subject concerning the necessity of Satan in the overall plan of God for creation. We are not capable of fully and truly comprehend God's purpose in created Satan and us ABLE to sin when He is UNABLE to sin and for us to be judged by Him (some whom will have a life of eternal anguish and separation from God suffering forever in the lake of fire) and those of us so elected to salvation to spend eternity with God in joy and love and bliss.

I have read that God's attributes are "active" in the sense of being ever expressed and that none are "latent" as to being unexpressed. So does not possess love where He can choose to love or not to do so, nor does He possess hatred for sin where He can choose to judge or not to judge. He IS all of the attributes we ascribe to Him. These attributes are His essential nature and He cannot depart from any of them nor set any aside. We are not like this.

It is hard for us to see love, hate, power etc. as being truly personified as they are in God. But He is so much greater than what we are essentially. His Essence (what He is-not what He is made of) is ALL that He is and He has not revealed ALL of WHAT or WHO He is. But Jesus has revealed God to us in Himself to the extent that we as far lesser and limited beings can know.

Richard, I love conversing with you. It is good to have someone here who values deep thoughts concerning God and His ways. In a world where most people are centered on themselves it is good to push ourselves to be God-centered, looking to Him and desiring to know Him more that we want to know ourselves, to promote Him and His ways more than promoting ourselves and our reputation or self-image to ourselves and to others. Thanks for being "in this" with me.
