There are no passages where women were said to be preaching a sermon. Paul makes it clear as to their role in church not having "authority" over a man ( 1 Timothy 2:12). 1 Corinthians 14:34 shows where women were told to be silent in churches and ask questions at home. The fact that women are mentioned prophesying and praying in corporate worship certainly doesn't mean that nothing can be said ( 1 Cor. 11:5). The qualifier here should be noted that women were asking questions and likely causing other disturbances during a worship service. It fits in with the idea of orderly worship in what was the most disorderly church mentioned in scripture in Corinth.

There is certainly agreement anywhere that I know of in traditional and Reformed circles that women have a role in teaching children and also guiding other women in knowledge of the scriptures. This is clear from the women that Paul Himself commends such as Lydia ( Acts 16:11-15 and elsewhere). There was teaching of Godly men who were children of women as well that are mentioned. There are also rules for Christian women as well as men whose spouses were not believers in regard to staying with them if they were agreeable and in some sense; "winning them over" ( 1 Peter 3:2). The concept of submission is clear in scripture as to women; as well as husbands loving in a sacrificial manner as Christ loved the church ( Eph. 5:25). Many men would like to bypass their responsibilities in this regard.

As to any sort of public forum outside a large congregational formal worship service obviously there are gray areas. I would challenge you to find ANY female preachers that are not in some serious doctrinal error (although men are getting harder to find today as well). I have certainly read brilliant writings such as Amy Van Gerpen's book on Revelation (which may finally be complete after years of work). I don't think she does self promoting; but in my opinion it has the most detailed cross references anywhere.

Psalm 41. This passage of scripture; without much question refers to David's late stage illness as shown in 1 Kings 1:1-4. There are statements about God preserving those physically in their illnesses who consider the poor (verse 1). This may not be something that we consider today; but it is worth noting in places such as the USA that have up until now been affluent compared with much of the world.

Once again as I have established a couple times with previous Psalms it would appear that David's state was due to sinful actions earlier (v. 4). As to any specific sexually transmitted disease I won't speculate. The passage following in verses 5 through 8 do show how his enemies sought out his death; and certainly that could have been due to the many wives and or concubines that David maintained; and those relations from other nations that by default would have been intertwined in these personal affairs. Secondary to this but also related is the rivalry from Absolom and other enemies that God Himself promised due to David's sin as seen in 2 Samuel 12. He was forgiven but there were consequences to his actions.

Verse 9 certainly is a Messianic prophecy; albeit fits in with David's situation (although it is hard to tell WHO exactly it would have referred to in his case).

The rest of the Psalm once again could have application to David and at least in a general sense to Christ in regard to victory over His enemies; and favor with God as well as His place as established in heaven at the right hand of God. (verses 10-12). It finally ends with the eternal nature of God and His blessedness.

It probably doesn't need repeating at this point how the same themes here continue repeatedly; namely prophecies applicable to David and Christ; David's sufferings; trust in God's grace and trust in all His promises. The Hebrew phoenetic and poetic structure has to be delved into to be discovered; and the sound of the original songs sadly have not been preserved.

    (Part 2)

So what gives us that authority? It's because it is something that has already been established in heaven.

Thou shalt bind that which has been bound already in heaven. It is a condition. And thou shall loose on earth things that shall have been loosed in heaven already.

So the church is here to declare that which has already been determined in heaven. We are only proclaimers!

What right do we have to tell anybody that they need to receive Christ and His death for them on the cross to be saved?

We have the authority to tell people that we've got the key. We have got the key that unlocks the door. His name is Jesus!

If you receive Him, I have the authority to tell you that you have been loosed from your sins. If you refuse Him, I have the authority to tell you that if you continue to reject Him throughout your whole life, you'll be bound to your sins and you will die in your sins.

That is pretty authoritative! But I didn't make that up. That is the authority God has given to the church, you and I.

I hope what I along with T Levis has share helps you out in your study on binding and loosing.

    Blessings in Christ Jesus!
  • Jesse - In Reply on 1 John 3 - 3 years ago
    Betty,

If I might piggyback off what T Levis has shared, in Matthew Chapter 16 it says, "and I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven:" Here it is singular. But in Chapter 18 it is plural. So it is not just Peter, it is all of them!

Now, "keys" is a Hebrew symbol of authority. A person that had the keys was in charge.

You can go back to some of the earlier documents in the Old Testament and see that the person that had the keys was in charge.

And some of the kings would get a little frustrated because whoever had the keys was in charge, and if you can't find him, of course you make the king mad, and they would have a new key bearer pretty soon!

He says I'll give you the keys. I'll give you the authority. We know that keys unlock things for entrance.

It says, and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Let me share with you what it is literally saying from the Greek:

"Whatsoever thou shall bind on earth, shall have been bound in heaven."

Please know that this is very important to understand, and I'll give it to you again. It reads "And whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall (have been) bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, shall (have been) loosed in heaven."

Here's the importance of those Perfect Tense verbs in the Greek text:

Jesus is not giving them and the church the authority to go around binding and loosing. We see this in Chapter 18, and Matthew tells us that it has do with sin.

In 1 John 3:8, the word "loosed" is used for how Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. It is the word loosed.

When a person gets saved, they are loosed from Satan. So the church has authority to either bind someone to their sins or loose them from their sins.

I'm running out of space, so I will send a part 2

    Dear Prayer Warriors.

    Please pray.

It's a heavy atmosphere around my life.

Please pray God keeps me safe and sound, leading me through//forward. There are evil-doers in my surroundings-God's saving love and Heavenly blessings poured out on them. Keep on fighting the good fight. Not giving up. Go up in the mornings in strength and peace, trusting and testing in God to be my Light and Shield. Stress thoughts to calm down in God's presence. Fear of people to live my mind completely. God's empowering strength, peace, joy, wisdom, freedom, power, hope, boldness rising up in me, in Christ Jesus Mighty Name we pray.

    Thank you for praying.

    Hi Gigi.

    Great question and great responses!

So, when it is all summed up here is the difference between the two.

"As often said" Mercy is not getting what we deserve, and grace is freely receiving what we don't deserve.

Here is where I believe they come together.

As posted in others response mercy is flowing from the God by way of love.

This is Gods Holy spirit. God is Love! God is Just! God is merciful!

In the cross we have God displaying his very nature without compromising any of his attributes.

    LOVE and Mercy.

He loved us so he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    JUDGE.

In Matthew 26:39-44 Jesus prayed three times "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." Those were our sins that nailed him to that cross and those prayers were answered by those sins being judged and paid for by the penalty of death.

    GRACE.

Christ done what only he could have done as "God in the flesh" live the sinless life he did as the perfect lamb of God endure the cross and raise the 3rd day. And his righteousness is imputed to those who believe. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8.

Also. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Corinthians 1:30.

    Sin has been judged.

    Mercy has been given.

We have been graced with the Holy spirit.

    We have been given Christ!

Now we look to display for this fruit to exist in our lives.

    God bless.

Dear Verleen, I will pray for you and your daughter, Oriel.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and ask that You fulfill in Verleen all that she prays for today. We ask that You deliver Oriel from drug dependency and the lifestyle that accompanies drug use. We plead with You to act swiftly in removing Oriel from this lifestyle and replace it with a godly, drug-free, addiction-free life centered on You and Your glory. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You in the nane of Jesus, and ask that You will comfort Lala's grandmother in the loss of her husband. Draw near to her and let Your presence be known to her. Be to her the love of her life and hold her to You forever. We ask You Father that You will have grandma's memories of her husband be sweet. Surround her with loving family members and friends during this time. Help her to feel loved and full in her life. Amen.

    Dear Ayen,

I have been praying for you through the night and through this morning. I am so glad to hear from you. Stay the course of faith in God despite your circumstances. Understanding that you are homeless, I can see that it may be hard to get away from people who are abusing you. Have you gone to a church and explained your situation? Perhaps there is a church near you who will see to it that you are separated from these abusers. They may supply funds for you to move far away and connect you with another church in this new area to help you once you get there.

Keep checking in with us Ayen. We all want you to continue to live, but we also want you to be rescued from your abusers. God is able to do this. I pray that you will hear the direction God wants you to employ for this to occur and that He will strengthen your faith to do what He asks of you.

In continuing response obviously besetting sins need to be dealt with as they give the enemy a foothold. Whatever happens Satan is defeated and the gates of hell cannot prevail against the church. Your soul if truly saved is sealed with the Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption (i.e. Rapture or Resurrection). Those who oppose us are likely controlled by the enemy who as I stated previously is the controlling mechanism of the unregenerate in this world.

We should also understand that "dying to self" is different than self destruction. He conforms us to His image and we need to realize that even in our transgressions He is chastising us and teaching us valuable lessons.

I would also say from experience that you should not stop taking any medications prescribed without working with doctors in a phased out approach. This puts you at greater risk; as I have learned from personal experience. I will also pray that God brings you counsel and for you to have the wisdom to take up what He has given you. This happened for me when I went through the betrayal of a cheating wife and divorce with Christian counseling and even random strangers that helped me through things when for a few weeks I had to stay with a friend and had no place of my own to crash. There are many others who God can use in your life to counsel you and also the Lord can strengthen you in helping someday to disciple others.

That's about all for now I will pray for you the next couple of days.

I have asked God for wisdom here on this subject. 2 Kings 6:16-19 shows how Elisha in the spiritual realm had more fighting for his side than in the visible human spectrum.

First; in regard to Saul. He had already committed an egregious sin in attempting to do a sacrifice which is only something a Priest to do. He had because of his jealousy of David attempted 21 times to kill him even though it should have been clear that he was the chosen one to someday be King of Israel. At the end he consulted a witch; something which was worthy of death in the O.T. law to enquire about an upcoming battle; and even in the end he was more concerned about his reputation when he asked to die with his serious injuries. It is because of his unrepentant jealousy of David and murderous spirit that demons were tormenting him. He was also ungracious because David repeatedly showed him mercy when he could have wiped him out.

We can also examine someone like Samson who; because he sacrificed himself was able to destroy multitudes of Baal worshippers; again his own sins got him into that position in the first place.

Clearly; the enemy of our souls tries to plant suicide in our minds. We only need to look at Christ's temptations throughout scripture; particularly when Satan told him to cast himself off the temple using scripture to back it up; and Christ retorted that we are not to test God. I cannot say that suicide is the unforgiveable sin; but at the very least eternal rewards will be lost for anyone who doesn't continue until the end of this earthly existence to walk in faith. As to my previous point; it would appear from the Book of Revelation that the accuser of our souls may not be cast down to earth until the midpoint of the Tribulation. It is certainly possible that those who are living in heaven are accused then; because afterwards the Antichrist or Beast curses those who LIVE IN HEAVEN. In either case He sustains us and has won the war despite current battles

I'm sorry, I tried to type to you, I am homeless. Without getting into to too much detail, Satan's children--GOD will not to stop them. They enjoy hurting me GOD will not stop allowing them to do so. I cannot get anywhere in life, because GOD has allowed the Devil's children todestroy all good I do, or attempt to do or man, and begin to do, just because they will to maintain control over my life. I had gotten hope, it then it left me again. I do not want to be on this planet anymore, because GOD will not stop Satan's bchildren from stopping me fromattemptingto free myself of and from them

Thank you, Sir or Madam, for your suggestion. I had thought maybe I needed to come into the LORD more humbly--wiyh more clear deference, right before reading your post, but for some reason, though, I became offended (I think just spiritual warfare, and could be a temporary change in my internal workings, due to the time of women being upon me, or just the last straw that caused me to come here and the stress fro it,but I assume it was a spiritual warfare thing. Either way, thank you and I will pray as your instructions suggest, again!

    Thank you, Ms. Cindy!

I just prayed and confessed the LORD Jesus' name again. I had gotten hope for a few minutes prior, but then when I realized that y situation has not changed for the better. I became very sad again. The hope deferred verse somewhere is similar to howI feel, but I feel worse, because every hope, the LORD has allowed enemies to take. GOD has not willed me to have yet, in as long as I've been on this earth to be able to hide my attempts to get out from under my abusers. Therefore they just destroy all those in ways I am unable to convince GOD to will otherwise.
  • AyenO - In Reply - 3 years ago
Tan you, Sir or Madam, for taking the time to post these scripture, I will read them all! Thank you for your kind words as well!

Thank you for your GOoDly words, Sir or Madam!

I had been writing a prayer request elsewhere, but then, I became afraid to post the one right before the one that I willpist here now. I became afraid all of a sudden, in an instant, and had a warning that GOD may give me the very thing I've been requesting, and that the LORD may answer it in a way I regret.

I believe someone had prayed FOR THAT/GOD may have been moved to command a heavenly angel or the Holy Spirit to put a fear in me. Because I had no fear until that instant to request death as the prophet Elijah did.

I do not have any reason to hope, unless GOD will bless me, because I have tried and prayed and used to fast, and nothing--fordecades has ever moved The LORD GOD to deliver me from my abusers. I believe He may do and does protect, but I have never been free of their hateful stalking. I can go nowhere that GOD will not they be allowed to follow, or reach into their Network to have me so followed. I do not expect to be believed, and I am sad, because I cannot do anything that GODwil not allow them to stop (other than being my own failure to pass). I am now sad again

Continuing from my earlier reply, the giant of despair counseled the Christians to commit suicide, but God says to live. The Lord has a purpose for every life, and He does not allow pain without purpose.
  • SP - In Reply - 3 years ago
God loves you, Ayen. In a book called the Pilgrim's Progress, when the giant of despair captured Christian and his friend Hopeful, they talked:

    "Chr. "Brother," said CHRISTIAN, "what shall we do? the life that we now live is miserable: for my part I know not whether is best--to live thus, or to die out of hand. 'My soul chooses strangling rather than life';

"So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life." Job 7:15

and the grave is more easy for me than this dungeon. Shall we be ruled by the Giant?"

    Hope says no

Hope: "'Indeed our present condition is dreadful, and death would be far more welcome to me than thus for ever to abide; but yet let us consider, the Lord of the country to which we are going hath said, "Thou shalt do no murder," no, not to another man's person. Much more, then, are we forbidden to take his counsel to kill ourselves.'" It is murder to kill oneself, and as stated in 1 John 3:15 "no murderer has eternal life"

God cares for you and is able to deliver you from your affliction.

Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted"

I am wondering if you are asking for us to pray for this one friend of yours or are you asking for us to pray for God to being you one friend. I am glad to pray for you, but I am not sure what you are asking for.
