James 2:17-20 Even so faith, IF It Hath Not Works, Is Dead, Being Alone. A man may say, Thou Hast Faith, And I Have works, :

Shew me Thy Faith Without Thy Works, And I will Shew thee my faith BY My Works.

Thou believest that there is One God, Thou Doest Well: The Devil's also believe, And Tremble.

But Wilt Thou Not Know, O vain man, That Faith Without Works Is Dead?

DEAD Faith Will Not Get Anyone Into Heaven.

    Jesus Says in John 15:14

Ye Are My Friends IF YE DO

    Whatsoever I Command You.

NO Enemies Of Jesus Will Be Able To Enter Into The Kingdom of Heaven.

Believing In Jesus MEANS Believing EVERY-THING He Says.
  • Richard H Priday on Psalms 88 - 2 years ago
I would defer here to the Matthew Henry comment listed on this site as a particularly poignant analysis of Psalm 88. The first verse; indeed declares that God is of his salvation; that is the writer of the psalm. No doubt; the fate of Korah himself and some of his sons could fit into this narrative as well. We do well to heed to the warnings of the fate of the afterlife for the lost; as Matthew Henry points out-there is at least there is some natural light in this life. The lamp for the wicked goes out; as other verses state ( Job 18:15; Proverbs 13:9; etc) after death. There is no peace for the wicked ( Isaiah 48:22). As believers; Satan can accuse us and oppress us; to steal our joy and effectiveness. Once the Spirit refreshes us and we repent for misdeeds; then we recognize our Shephard and once again follow the straight and narrow. This is something foreign to the world at large. A self righteous man will never surrender his "righteousness" to God; even in hell; and at that time there is no more grace available. God will simply continue to be an enemy for all eternity. Regeneration; therefore must happen now; in this lifetime. Those who are not one of His children will never desire Christ without Divine revelation and that comes being one of His elect.

Yes GiGi, I think the Nicene Creed is the most complete of all. A good summary of the christian faith. I think I like it best.

    (Athanasian creed Part 2)...continued

The Holy Spirit was not made or created or begotten but proceeds from the Father and the Son. Accordingly, there one Father, not three Fathers, one Son, not three Sons, one Holy Spirit, not three Holy Spirits. And among these three Persons, none is before or after another; none is greater of less than another, but all three Persons are co-equal and co-eternal and accordingly, as has been stated above, three Persons are to be worshipped in one Godhead; and one Godhead is to be worshipped in three Persons.

Whoever wishes to be saved must think this about the Trinity. I is also necessary for eternal salvation that one faithfully believes that the Lord Jesus Christ became man; for this is the right Faith; that we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus , the Son of God, is at once the God and man. he is begotten before all ages of the substance of the Father, and He is man, born in the world of the substance of His mother, perfect God and perfect man, with a reasonable soul and human flesh; equal to the Father with respect to His Godhead and inferior to the Father with respect to His manhood. Although He is God and Man; He is not two Christs, but one Christ; one, that is to say, not by changing the Godhead into flesh, but by taking on the leash into God, one , indeed, not by confusion of substance, but by unity in one Person.

For just as the reasonable soul and the flesh are one man, so God and man are one Christ; who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

At His coming, all men shall rise with their bodies and give an account of their own deeds. Those who have done good will enter eternal life, and those who have done evil will go into everlasting fire.

This is the true Christian Faith. Unless a man believes this firmly and faithfully cannot be saved.

Hello Phill. Your efforts to persevere in reading & meditating on God's Word is very commendable; many folk just give up if they read something that is difficult to understand. Though I'm always hesitant in suggesting another version of the Bible, since many of them don't accurately, or fully, bring out God's Word, I will direct you to the following website.

If you go to Biblehub dot com, on their main page they have a range of Bible versions that you can look at. If for instance, you have a particular verse or chapter you have difficulty reading, then by applying your verse/chapter to the Search Bar & then select the Bible version you want to read it from (under Bible - Alphabetical listings), you can see which one is the best for you. So you can continue reading this Bible version online or ask for that version from your Christian bookstore. As always, you can always come on here to get any help you need with your Bible reading. And remember to always seek the Lord's Help as you spend this quality time in His Word. Every blessing brother.

Hello again Jay, I hope your day is going well.

Here is the text of the Athanasian creed. It was written in 500 A.D. to highlight the Trinity and that each person of the

Trinity was co-equal to one another in all respects. They also were refuting Modalism which denies there being three distinct Persons in the Godhead.

Whoever wishes to be saved must, above all, hold the true Christian Faith. Whoever does not keep it whole and undefiled will without doubt perish for eternity.

That we worship one God in three persons, three Persons in one God without confusing the Persons or dividing the divine substance.

For the Father is one Person, the Son is another, and the Holy Spirit is still another, but there is one Godhead of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; equal in glory and co-equal in majesty.

What the Father is, that is the Son, and that is the Holy Spirit. The Father is uncreated, the Son is uncreated, and the Holy Spirit is uncreated. The Father is unlimited, the Son is unlimited, and the Holy Spirit is unlimited. The Father is eternal, the Son is eternal, and the Holy Spirit is eternal. And yet, they are not three Eternals, but one Eternal. Just as there is not three Who are uncreated and Who are unlimited, but there is one Who is uncreated and unlimited. Likewise, the Father is Almighty, the Son is Almighty, and the holy Spirit is Almighty.

So, the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. And yet there are not three Gods, but one God. So, the Father is Lord, the Son is Lord, and the holy Spirit is Lord. And yet there are not three Lords, but one Lord.

For just as we are compelled by Christian truth to acknowledge each Person Himself to be God and Lord, so we are forbidden by the Christian religion to say that there are three Gods or three Lords.

The Father was neither made nor created nor begotten by anybody. The Son was not made or created, but was begotten by the Father. (continued on Part 2)

Yes: Jesus said, Go tell Peter AND MY Disciples. But Peter didn't hear Jesus say that. So: It Wasn't said to Reassure Peter.

AS A Matter Of Fact: IF Peter Had Heard Jesus Say That, It Would Have Been Unsettling To Peter. Because By Saying That: Jesus "Totally Segregated" Peter From The Rest Of The Disciples.

BTW That Wasn't The Only Instance Where Jesus "Separated" Peter From The Disciple Rank.

Jesus Knew That Peter Was The One Devil (Get Thee Behind Me Satan) That He "Had To" Chose In Order (To Fulfill) Scripture.

You Seem To Be Trying Very Hard To Prove That Jesus Is A Liar. Jesus Is The Way. (The Truth) And The Life.

When Jesus Calls (Someone Who Does Not Savour The Things Of God): Satan: He Means What He Says.

    Dear fellow Christians

Today the Eastern Orthodox christians celebrate what they call Great Friday. It is the respective to the Good Friday of Catholics. On Sunday they will celebrate Easter, a week later than Catholics. Today, Friday, they celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Since everybody here is mentioning the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, I take the chance to tell you about a vision a brother told me he had from God many years ago.

God showed him a vision of Jesus Christ going to Golgotha. Lord Jesus Christ was "walking" on a road leading to Golgotha heaving on Him the heavy cross. Around Him crowds of people. Roman soldiers around Him were clearing His way from the crowds. On His left and right women were watching and mourning for Him and hitting their chests with their hands. Behind them little shops and houses like we see in movies. Lord Jesus was struggling. He wasn't standing on His feet, He was almost crawling on his legs and hands under the heavy cross. His body and face was all in blood. A hymn sounded in the air. It was in the Turkish language that brother could understand. The hymn was saying " I am all hurt, I am exhausted, I am all in pain" When I heard that I immediately thought that crucifixion has not even started yet and Lord Jesus was already exhausted.

Dear brothers and sisters THIS IS OUR GOD. He has done all that for us, in order to take us all together with Him in the Heavens to live happily with Him for ever. FOR GOD LOVE IS.

    No more words to say.

You can probably google your question to find an answer.

Your question is somewhat double fold.

What were the OT biblical laws concerning the Sabbath?

What were the ordinances created by the Rabbi's concerning keeping the Sabbath holy?

One question addresses what God commanded and the other addresses what Jesus called the "traditions of men".

Leigh, what you said is very true of us. We do not love our enemy, but can with the work of the holy Spirit in us. It takes conscious effort to be loving in the face of being sinned against as the Holy Spirit reminds us of Christ's words to love our enemies, to bless them, to pray for them. The more one submits to the Holy Spirit on such matters the easier it gets to actually obey the words of our Savior.

I do think that forgiving others is challenging, too. But again, it is the work of the Holy Spirit in us to enable us to will and do what Jesus calls us to do.

People who have had horrible things done to them have a bigger challenge than others. It helps if others pray for these people since they have so much to bear and work through.

    Good afternoon Daniel,

I think that we may never know if there was actually a gap of time between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. Perhaps God does not want us to know. But again, maybe we will find something out scientifically to show evidence of such a gap.

When I get to heaven I will enjoy finding out the whole story. I am sure that learning this will make me praise God even more!

God bless you today! It is good to have you posting here.

For almost a year I was a lukewarm Christian who lived for the world. I broke almost all of God's commandments, I was lustful, I did things that God hated, I followed the world and became in love with fame and money instead of God, I treated my phone and other devices as idols, I struggled with sexuality, I told boys sexually what they wanted to hear, I never wanted God to come into my life thinking He would just "mess up my fun" since I wanted to do my own thing, and so much more than anyone could ever believe I did before since I was raised in a Christian household. Then my grandfather passed away and I just turned into a true demon that day. I ignored every warning that Jesus was returning, I didn't acknowledge the fact that God could have just taken my life, I ignored Jesus who kept knocking at the door of my heart not knowing that one day He could have returned and I would be left behind and I would've taken the mark of the beast for fun or to gain followers or to just follow what my friends were doing. One day whilst I was seeing how many more followers I gained, I fell to my knees unexpectedly and I was frozen there and out of nowhere I cried out to God. I asked for forgiveness for every single thing I did and I repented. After that, I felt His heavenly presence around me and I felt peace in my spirit and I was filled with love and joy. After His amazing encounter every sin that held me down disappeared, friends and boys started to dislike the new and improved Christian me but I didn't care since I asked God to remove anyone who wasn't right for me, I got many prophetic dreams and visions, the Lord started to send angels to me and they would pray for me and with me and I thank God for saving me from my past that could have led me straight to hell. PRAISE GOD FOR HE SHALL LIVE FOREVER!!!

Forgive me; I worded that badly Linda. I knew what I meant..but didn't say it rightly. Yes, Peter denied the Lord 3 times in a row...but at the same event. The event was singular, not the denial! Forgive me for any confusion on that point.

Isn't it amazing that in Mark 16:7, Jesus tells Mary to "go tell My disciples, and Peter.."...because Jesus the Good Shepherd knew that Peter needed the assurance of His repentance. INDEED, it can be so that tears don't mean a THING as to repentance, but in Peter's case, they DID! From the point of His tears forward, He was devoted to Christ, even unto death. And we mustn't forget in John 21, Jesus perfectly reclaims Peter and commissions him to go feed Christ's sheep! Jesus does not send devils out to the ministry! OHHH the Love of Christ...that saves us to the UTTERMOST of our heinous sins!

Oh Linda.. I have been a slow learner many times. It has happened to me as the psalm says, i.e., I have fallen SEVEN times"....but got up again because of GRACE! I've fallen on my face more than Peter's three times, but I KNOW I am forgiven, born from above, and have the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all because of the grace of God in Christ Jesus!

My failures have made me more watchful, and more humble, and more ready to be forgiving and patient with others.

Gigi said a right thing: we can judge NO man's heart! That is Christ's jurisdiction alone, but but BUT we CAN and are instructed to judge the fruit. The fruit between Judas and Peter is entirely different one from another.

May the Lord help us all grow into Christ and His Word more and more! Amen!

    Actually Kay:

Peter's Was "Not A Singular" Fall.

    He Denied Jesus "Three" Times.

He Could Have Repented After The First Two Denials: But Didn't.

After The Third Denial: He knew That He Could No Longer Repent. That's why he went out and Wept Bitterly.

Just As Esau Wept Bitterly: When He Sold His Birthright: Because He Found "No Room For" Repentance.

    Weeping Does Not Bring Repentance.

"Turning From" Wicked Ways Is Repentance. Peter "Didn't" Repent.

Peter Had 2 Opportunities To Turn From His Wicked Ways: But He Chose Not To Turn. He Denied Jesus "The Third" Time.

1 John 2:23 Whosoever Denieth The Son, The Same Hath Not The Father: But he That "Acknowledge" The Son "Hath" The Father "Also" .

    Simon Peter "Denied" The Son.

Simon Peter "Hath Not" The Son

    "Or" The Father.

    Matt.16:23 / Mark 8:33

Jesus Said To Peter: Thou Savourest Not

The Things That Be Of God, But (Thou Savourest) Those (Things) That Be Of Men.

People Who Do Not Savour The Things Of God: Are Not Christians.

    Susan,

I think that Biden is an old, frail, easy manipulated politician who's desire to President was so strong that he made a deal before Super Tuesday that in exchange for being promoted as the presidential candidate he would answer to unelected people during his presidency. This is proving itself out before our very eyes. He is not "running the show" but came out of his basement after the election to make limited "face" appearances and minimal speaking (from a teleprompter) as the "duly elected president". It is really a farce and a shame. His presidency is a danger to our nation because people who are unelected are running our country.

But I would not call him evil. He is fallen, like all of us, and gave into a sinful scheme.

I agree that he should not be our president because it seems he is cognitively impaired and manipulated. He has made some statements recently that are dangerous and put our country vulnerable. We shall see how this works out. But in the meantime, it is wise for us to pray for him and our government officials as well as our country as a whole.

Years ago I felt like God was telling me to slow down. When I did, I begin to see how Moses would write. He'd be really into it and be interrupted. He'd write a part 1, be interrupted, write part 2. Next he would add some pages on part one; and write part 3. That's why Genesis seems choppy until you realize he was like many of us. Sailing along on a thought_ and someone will drag us away to solve a problem or just sit and watch a sunset till the stars appear.

I'm not saying to lay down a project indefinitely. I get up early to watch sunrise with the Lord, and drink coffee. It's silent, then "the first bird will chirp. Slowly all the birds wake and Praise the Lord. Then the trees give God a "wave offering." The clouds wake with the sun. It makes me happy and i sing too (like a frog).

In John 3, Jesus is telling Nicodemas that the wind flows here and there, as does the Holy Spirit. He's very precious to Jesus. How we respond to the Holy Spirit matters. He always "tells us" of Jesus. What is He showing us today in the Scriptures?

I'm 70 now and sometimes it feels like life is speeding up in some kind of tornado. I get exasperated with the crazy pace of this world. Sometimes I'm aware I'm being called to sit with the Holy Spirit to be ministered to, by Him.

Some are not willing to drop everything that is screaming for attention, to just sit in His presence and be healed of problems and annoyances. I sit and open my Bible to Proverbs (the book of Wisdom) and the storm calms down. My thoughts wander over into a future day, in Heaven, WITH this incredible Godhead who is everywhere.

I think we're all going to be very happy to live forever in heaven. I get excited about riding on white horses With Jesus into the final war on earth; although it saddens me the people who will still refuse Jesus as the Lord.

Always look forward; not backwards. Mishael

    Doug,

Thank you for the reply. I guess the point I am trying to make is that God does His own work. I don't believe that He is dependent upon us to do His work for Him. Now, I do believe He can and does use His people at times for His purposes, but it is Him doing the work, not us. It is Him working though us an in us if that makes sense? If it is us doing God's work for Him, then we have something to boast of. I have to believe that I cannot do His work for Him. He does it. He might use me but it is still Him doing the work. That's why I said that if He is dependent upon me to do His work for Him, He's in trouble.

    Again, thanks for the reply!

It's controversial but I honestly believe the Earth to be over 7 Billion years old. Someone had mentioned pre-gap and I do believe there was a prior creation (dinosaurs and other beasts). I also believe that Lucifer was cast down from Heaven eons before God created man. In archaeology, similar have stated that after the cataclysmic event that killed the dinosaurs...there was darkness open the face of the deep. Clouds blocked out the sun around all the Earth, the land masses were flooded (possibly by the comet that struck what's now Mexico) and there was no life. Again, I am not encouraging anyone partake whether this is truth or not as that's your prerogative this may be something we don't know for certain until we can ask God Himself.

About the 6,000 year old Earth dating comes from the Angelican publishings of James Ussher in the 14th-century. It's not suggested in the Holy Bible and I'd ask any one to try to date Genesis. I imagine Moses (during His life) may not have known how old the story of the garden (Adam & Eve, the Garden of Eden) was but the writings were giving to Him by God. Read about the council of Ussher and it seems there was a debate going on during that time about the age of the Bible related to the Earth. Long story short, Ussher won the dispute and they published his dates. One of those things that I consider equally as controversial as those on the side of pre-gap.
