"The apocrypha is a selection of books which were published in the original 1611 King James Bible. These apocryphal books were positioned between the Old and New Testament (it also contained maps and geneologies). The apocrypha was a part of the KJV for 274 years until being removed in 1885 A.D. A portion of these books were called deuterocanonical books by some entities, such as the Catholic church.

Many claim the apocrypha should never have been included in the first place, raising doubt about its validity and believing it was not God-inspired (for instance, a reference about magic seems inconsistent with the rest of the Bible: Tobit chapter 6, verses 5-8). Others believe it is valid and that it should never have been removed- that it was considered part of the Bible for nearly 2,000 years before it was recently removed a little more than 100 years ago. Some say it was removed because of not finding the books in the original Hebrew manuscripts. Others claim it wasn't removed by the church, but by printers to cut costs in distributing Bibles in the United States. Both sides tend to cite the same verses that warn against adding or subtracting from the Bible: Revelation 22:18. The word 'apocrypha' means 'hidden.' Fragments of Dead Sea Scrolls dating back to before 70 A.D. contained parts of the apocrypha books in Hebrew, including Sirach and Tobit [source].

Keep this in mind when reading the following apocryphal books. Martin Luther said, "Apocrypha--that is, books which are not regarded as equal to the holy Scriptures, and yet are profitable and good to read." (King James Version Defended page 98.)".

the parable of the good Samaritan is just one of many that one could choose, and as you read the NT many others will stand out.

    Luke 10:25-37

"And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?" And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."

    Philippians 2:5-10

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:"

  • Jesse - In Reply on Luke 5 - 2 years ago
    Frances,

You are very welcome! Isn't it funny how that works? There are things I read in the bible over and over again, but still don't get it. Even if I ask someone to help explain it to me, it still makes no sense. It used to frustrate me. I used to think "What, am I stupid or something? Why can't I get this?" i mean, it's written in plain English. But then I realize I'm never going to get it unless God's Spirit reveals it to me. So the things I still don't understand, I have come to realize that it is God's way of telling me I'm not ready to understand it yet, and I'm good with that!

I'm glad I could help you. God bless!!!

    Jasmine,

I'll take a few of these. As to your first question, I fully agree with what Adam has shared with you. I also believe in the Deity (eternal existence) of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. All three, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all co-equal, and co-eternal.

    Q. Did God tell Eve not to eat or just Adam?

    A. Genesis 2:16 would indicate that God told this just to Adam as he was the only human in existence when God said it. We don't see Eve come into the scene until Genesis 2:22.

    Q. Can we assume that there were people there before and now there is no one so God made Adam and Eve Again to re stock earth?

    A. I would say no to that one. Even though it says to "replenish" the earth, the word replenish in Hebrew meant to fill the earth, not re-fill it.

    Q. How did God make the skins from animals for them and why? I know they were naked but why would he care?

    A. My guess would be that if God could create the entire universe, just by speaking things into existence, it would be simple for Him to make animal skins. But why would God do so? This was done as a covering for their sin. Up until the point where they disobeyed God, they had no knowledge of being naked. But when God appeared to them, they hid themselves from Him because they were perhaps ashamed of their nakedness. That's what sin does. It exposes us!

Revelation 8, - Revelation 9, - Revelation 10, note there are 7 angels with seven trumpets Revelation 8:2-6, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th angels "sounded" their trumpets in Rev. 8, Revelation 8:7,8,10,12, & warns of the final 3. Revelation 8:13, "And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound"

Why did Jesus never use chapter and verses in his quoting of bible passages ? It obviously was not needed . The Jews knew the law or at least should have .

Is chapter and verses used in modern bibles an attempt to brake down the word of God by making it harder for the Spirit to flow in thought ?It Could be . When men are involved often it is not for the better .

I do like chapter and verses for finding where it is written , saves time that way . But the Spirit of God does not need them to form thoughts .

We are told that in revelation not to rehearse what we will say , the Spirit will give us the words .

    Genesis 1:31,

Genesis 1:7, could it be that because HE hadn't made the "lights in the Firmament" yet? Genesis 1:15-18, that it doesn't mention seeing it until Genesis 1:31. Could it also be because the firmament wasn't completed yet, & possibly rather empty?

    Psalms 19:1, Daniel 12:3,

    Hopefully this is helpful

Genesis 1:28, other translations say "to fill" or "make full" the earth, replacing "replinish" , it would be interesting to do original text reasearch on the word.

    Genesis 2:16,17,

If you look at Genesis 5:1-2, it can change the perspective, to who exactly the name Adam, is referring to. It's similar to referencing "man or mankind, man made" the difference seems to be clarified more when it says "the woman " Genesis 3, if we look however as Genesis 2, being in chronological order, then the woman arrives Genesis 2:18,19,21,22, after. However Genesis 3:1-3, shows she was very aware of the 'law' 2Corinthians 11:3, 1Timothy 2:13-15,

Genesis 2:23, He 1st named her ' woman ' interestingly Jacob also seems to do the same when GOD changed his name to Israel he continues to be referred to as Jacob, also. Genesis 32:28, Genesis 35:10, Genesis 46:2,5,

It doesn't say their children would be a punishment, Genesis 3:16, pregnancy & childbirth is difficult, painful, with distress. Woman also have hormons that magnify crying 'sorrow'. Explaining the curse also. Why, seems to be explained in Gen. 3. Revelation 12:2, John 16:21,

Genesis 3:7, fig leaves, will decompose & provide no warmth, It's a temporary, hasty, bad choice. Genesis 3:21, compassion, provision, love, mercy, knowledge, wisdom & protection, is why GOD made coats of skin for them. Remember they were no longer allowed in the protected environment of the special garden. Genesis 3:23-24, Ephesians 2:4,

"how, did GOD make skins from animals for them & why" It appears to be the 1st animal sacrifice to cover "mans sins".

    Romans 5:14, John 3:15,16, 1Corinthians 15:22, 1Corinthians 15:45, 1Chronicles 1:1, Luke 3,

    Proverbs 7, Romans 8, Hebrews 10, Matthew 13,

    Hopefully these are all helpful

    Dear Earl

What do you understand from the judgement that is described in Matthew 25:31-46

Please pay attention to verses 41 and 46.

"V41. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" Cursed, everlasting fire, go to a place prepared for the devil and his angels? I dont think that you believe that the devil and his angels will be saved as well.

"V46. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment (the text says Hell): but the righteous into life eternal.". Everlasting panishment? Don't all those plus many more show that not everybody is going to be saved?

If I misunderstood your posts so far, I am sorry beforehand.

When we first got married, a Christian wives' study instructed us to make lists of the things our husbands did wrong or where they could grow in the Lord to pray against those things. We were told to place it under our mattresses. My husband and I were flipping the mattress one day, and my husband found the list. He got really angry and told his family that I was keeping track of his failures (to hold them against him). I was so shocked by his response that I didn't tell him why I created the list. Ever since then, he's been very different to me. He's done to horrible things, but I keep trying to make things work. I know that I read about "leaving things in the past alone". But, I believe that if I explain what I was doing all those years ago, he would understand that I was not trying to sabotage him. I do not want to be disobedient to God and mention this issue from the past, if I am not supposed to. I have been searching for related Scripture to determine if I should bring up the incident, because, though this happened in the past, it's a current issue. TIA.
  • Daniel - In Reply on Mark 16:15 - 2 years ago
Agreed. We know it will happen regardless. Why is the church so divided on this? I believe pre-trib rapture and have read through over 28 verses distinguishing it from the second coming or other replacement theology. But, I've debated this and those convinced by a doctrine otherwise simply won't listen; therefore... I no longer debate this to avoid discord.
  • Giannis - In Reply - 2 years ago
Yes, that is the right explanation, brother Jesse, although the text says "trained". Trained by whom? By themselves. Spencer's answer is right too. It is what i was also tought.

Sister GiGi, every Word God has ever spoken WILL COME TO PASS.

This is why it is SO IMPORTANT to understand, and believe, MOSSES and THE PROPHETS.

The Spirit of Christ prophesied that ONLY ONE THIRD (vessels of honour) of creation would be CALLED in this age of GRACE (the DAY OF THE LORD).

Ezekiel 5:1 .....then take three balances and weigh, and DIVIDE the hair ....( Revelation 6:5-6)

Ezekiel 5:2 Thou shall burn the THIRD PART in the midst of the city ....(you are the new Jerusalem of God)

Ezekiel 5:3 Thou shall also take thereof a FEW IN NUMBER, and bind them in thy skirts ( Psalms 133:2).

Ezekiel 5:4 Then take of them (the few) and cast them into the FIRE ( Malachi 3:2-3), and burn them (the few) in the FIRE; for thereof (the few) shall a FIRE ( Psalms 104:4) COME FORTH unto the House of Israel (you are the TRUE house of Israel).

Obadiah 1:18 And the house of Jacob (Jacob was the shadow; Christ is the TRUE) SHALL BE A FIRE, and the house of Joseph (Joseph was the shadow; Christ is the TRUE) shall be a flame, and the house of ESAU for stubble ..

Obadiah 1:21 And saviours shall come upon Mount Zion, to judge the mount of ESAU; and the KINGDOM (of GOD)(CHRIST IN YOU) shall be the Lord's.

Zechariah 13:09 And I WILL bring the THIRD PART THROUGH THE FIRE ..

Revelation 8:7 ... and there followed HAIL and FIRE .....

Isaiah 28:2 Behold, the Lord (the Father ) hath a strong and might one (CHRIST), which as a tempest of HAIL and a destroying storm ....

Isaiah 28:17 ..and the HAIL shall sweep away the refuge of lies ..

Revelation 8:8 ...as it were a great mountain BURNING WITH FIRE ...

Daniel 2:35 ...and the stone (CHRIST) that smote THE IMAGE (of the beast)( Revelation 13:15) became a great mountain (Mount Zion) ...

Revelation 9:18 By these three was a THIRD PART of man killed, by the FIRE, and by the SMOKE, and by the BRIMSTONE, WHICH ISSUED of there MOUTH.

The LAKE OF FIRE and BRIMSTONE comes out of the MOUTH, THE FIRE AND BRIMSTONE ARE THE WORD'S OF GOD.

    Dear Lau.

I think the passage that you mention in your post is about the second coming of Jesus at the end of the 7 years that the antichrist rules on earth. Pay attention to V29 and V30

" V29. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

V30. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.".

Why do tribes mourn? Because they accepted the mark of the beast.

For what Paul call Rupture see Matthew 24:40 "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left"

What is one doing in the field? The answer is working. But if he didn't accept the beast's mark how is he working, how does he get paid or how can he sell his goods and buy other, and if he did get the mark how is he going to be grabed to the sky?

My opinion is that rupture occurs before tribulation. Also Daniel has some good arguments in his post.

Actually yes, God always tries in His own ways to persuade us to believe Him. The expression I would use though is that He works in our hearts to make us obey Him.

It's nice to meet somebody that studies the Old Greek that is used in the New Testament. I can learn from you too.

    God Bless You Brother.

    Dear Jesse

Sorry for my delayed answer but amongst other things there is a time difference between Greece and USA. When here is daytime there you have night and vise versa.

Lets go to faith. In Greek PISTIS. the verb is PISTEUO pronounced PEEH-STEH-VO stressed in the middle syllable, although the ancients may have pronounced it in a different way.

Persuation is PEITHO, the verb is the same, but stessed in the first syllable, whereas the noun is stressed in the last syllable. It is pronounced PEEH-tho.

Now, what do I call faith? I think there are different "types" of faith.

    1) Faith to Jesus That is beleiving that God excists and sent Jesus to earth to save people. This type of faith may come from hearing the Word of God.( Romans 10:17. "So then FAITH cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"). Also by seeing an activity of God, such as a miracle. Remember that apostle Paul didn't believe in God until he saw Jesus. Also in the Acts Sergius Paulus didn't believe in Paul's words until he saw Elymas getting blind.

    2) Faith to God's Word, that is trusting God that He does what He promises. A definition of that is in Hebrews 11:1, "Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"

    3) Faith is a fruit given by the Holly Spirit. Galatians 5:22. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, FAITH,..."

    4) Faith is also included in the spiritual gifts that God gives to His children. 1 Corinthians 12:9.

"V7. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

    V8. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

V9. To another FAITH by the same Spirit; ..."

I don't claim to know God's word or try to be a teacher. Who can actually claim that? I may be wrong, all of us are learning , from our churches, from the communication we have between us ...

    to be continued..

Deliver me God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob! Please help me in the name of the Lord. I'm sad my God and so desperately lonely. My wife Gabby is not at my side yet. She has my God ignored me for months and treated me as if I am dead. My Lord Jesus in your abounding grace. Turn my wife's Gabby heart and send her to me in quick haste. Please make haste and return to me what you the Lord God blessed me with. Lord God I know I'm not perfect but in your mercy as I look to the Heavens please show me a sign. You always prove my doubts wrong Lord God and I know you will prove me wrong again by showing me a miraculous sign. In the name of Jesus thank you for answering this prayer. Amen
