Dear Lokesh, I will pray for your mother tonight.

Dear heavenly Father, we lift up to You Lokesh's mother who has more health issues to count and needs Your healing touch to restore her to health and a normal life. LORD God, You know all that is going on with this mother and we are trusting You to help her in her time of dire need. We ask that You help her to overcome anxiety and worry within her as she has so many things to be concerned about. Bring her calm, rest, peace, and mercy now and as she heals. Lokesh wants to have more time with his mother, so prolong her life and bring their life together back to normalcy. LORD God, we ask these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

    Hi Tom.

That is a great question and as several may have said, the scripture doesn't reveal why.

    Here's what I find interesting,

We know John was the forerunner preparing the way for the Lord.

He was to bring in what was prophesied by the Prophets.

When he required of Jesus the Lord reminded him a passage from Isaiah, which he also stated when he begin his ministry in

    Luke 4:17-21.

I believe the Holyspirit was on John his entire life to fulfill his ministry which was to prepare the way for the Lord.

It's also interesting John was never given a visual description of Jesus to identify him. Just that he would see the spirit descending and remaining on him.

John 1:31-34. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

And I knew him not: BUT HE THAT SENT ME TO BAPTIZE WITH WATER, THE SAME SAID UNTO ME, UPON WHOM THOU SHALT SEE THE SPIRIT DESCENDING, AND REMAINING ON HIM, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

John ministry was unique and was to bring to Israel what was prophesied. And when that was done he said this.

"He must increase, but I must decrease.

He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. John 3:30-34."

John was mighty in bringing in our Lord, afterwards he decreased.

Jesus is the only one given the spirit without measure.

    Just a thought.

    God bless.

Hi my brothers and sisters it's been a very long time since I've been here and every time I post something I gain not only encouragement but also other brothers and sisters who are well more upright than I. Last Thursday I was reading Exodus 15 at work and suddenly I felt hands on my shoulders. Now I've been a Christian for going on four years and I know the spirit of God moves in me and lives in me but this was a feeling I've never felt. It wasn't bad but I didn't think much of it. To be honest when it happened I just said hm. And huhlol. Later on I spoke with my mom and she stated that it was Jesus letting me know he's always there. I told my grandma who's 96 years old and said it was like the hand of God was on me and so then she replied well that's because it was. I've been trying to tell as many people because it's a beautiful experience to even given this is solely on his grace and grace alone. He's teaching me that Satan is a liar and even though my wife and I are unequally yoked and have my reservations on my marriage I have to rely on the power of God for everything. I know I can come on here and y'all will listen to me and not condemn me or say something very ugly. I just feel like sometimes I have no one to speak to other than God who I love speaking to. Him and I will go hours speaking. On the road. When I wake up. When I shower.etc.I ask for your prayers concerning my faith and me getting stronger with God but also for my wife that one day she's lead to Christ. Even when my soul is fading I know he will deliver me. Have a blessed night/day

Thank you for your comment, Toby.

This is a very broad subject, and too deep for just a forum. The Servus Christi you tube channel has an excellent teaching on this subject; Joshua does a very studious job laying this all out; and he is a much better expounder than I am. If you're interested, you an go to that channel and search the video out.

    God bless!

Indeed brother; your's was a great example from Elijah's mental turmoil. As brother Fred has shared as well, as strong as we might feel in spirit, the weakness of our flesh is ever ready to surface. How we deal with that will either be our victory or perpetual grief & defeat.

PJ, the blood of Christ covers all sin, but what's the one sin that has separated man for God; not believing what God says.

The shadow is the first children of Israel. They believed that God was God, but they didn't believe what God said.

The same is true today, the second children of Israel (Christ's children) believe God is God, but they don't believe what God says.

They believe that God is the WORD, but they don't believe his words.

Hebrews 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

Hebrews 3:18 And to whom swear he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

Hebrews 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief (that's the one sin that keeps man from being ONE WITH CHRIST).

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into THAT REST, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:10 For he that hath entered into HIS REST, he also has ceased from HIS OWN WORKS, as did God from his.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (CHRIST IN YOU) that WORKETH in you both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Most haven't ceased from THEIR OWN WORKS and BELIEVED that it is the WORKS OF THE HOLY GHOST (CHRIST IN YOU)

Psalms 12:4 Who have said, With our tongue we shall prevail, OUR LIPS ARE OUR OWN: who is Lord over us.

They don't believe WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.

! Corinthians 3:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another, and what do you have that you DID NOT RECEIVE? now if thou received it, why dost thou glory, as if thou RECEIVED IT NOT.

Proverbs 16:6 By truth and mercy iniquity is purged ....

    Dear GiGi

    I don't mind the discussion.

    As was mentioned before.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God.

As long as we are using Gods word it should be beneficial.

    Thanks for your time

Jim, like Adam, I think we are at an impasse here. I do not wish to get further involved in this thread. I wish you well, but I definitely do not agree with your interpretation. I believe that Jesus is human, but also the eternal Son of God, equally

god but subordinated Himself to the Father by choice in eternity past when the plan of creation and salvation of mankind was determined within the Godhead of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Thanks T. Levis

John the Baptist was the 'forerunner". So, he knew far less than the apostles or Paul did after Jesus' death and resurrection. And less than all of the martyrs that came after him. And less than us and Christian believers through the centuries.

Perhaps he thought he was going to be part of Jesus' group of disciples that walked through their lives with Him. John had a difficult calling from the start of his public ministry. He lived in the wilderness, fending for himself with what the wilderness provided as far as food and shelter. Certainly, his parents did not live in the wilderness with him. So, my best guess is that the Holy Spirit led John into the wilderness (just as He did Jesus).

Was John tempted by Satan, too, in that place? Did he resist the temptations like Jesus did? Did he have companionship in the wilderness? How long did he live in the wilderness? What did God tell him in the wilderness as he began the ministry he was called to do? How well did he know Jesus growing up and as an adult? Did he have a copy of the Scriptures with him in the wilderness to study since he was from the priestly lineage? Did he have any knowledge from God about how he would die while in the wilderness?

John was like a flame/torch. He was on fire for the LORD God. He also pursued his calling with hot vigor and without hesitancy. he was willing to spend and be spent for the LORD. His ministry was short lived, but it burned hot the whole time, He spoke to the religious leaders in a fiery way, denouncing their hypocrisy. He spoke strongly to those who came to the river to see what he was all about, urging them to repent o their sins and be baptized, for the kingdom was at hand. (It is said that the place where John was baptizing was the same place in the Jordan where the Israelites crossed, by miracle, into the land of promise after the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness). John had a sense of urgency and definitely knew his purpose.

    Are we on fire?

    Amen, Marke!

You will appreciate the book of Job even more when you understand it is a parable about the sufferings of Christ. Look at it closely and you will see much of it parallels the Psalms.

Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he suffered.

Job 27:1 Moreover Job continued his parable, saying ....

Job 29:1 Moreover, Job continued his parable, and said ....

Ezekiel 20:49 Then said I (the spirit of Christ), Ah Lord God (the Father), they (the scriptures) say of me (Christ), Doth he (Christ) not speak parables.

Matthew 13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable he spake not to them.

The whole Bible is the words of Christ, therefore the Bible itself is a parable (HIDDEN TRUTHS).

    Malachi 2:13-17

13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

16 For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

17 Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

I suppose we all may know someone who professes to be a Christian who falls down at the altar at the front of the church expressing humility and devotion to Christ but who in his private life has treated the wife of his youth abominably. Some have even divorced the wife of their youth to marry a younger girl who pleases him physically.

Modern Christians are filled with the Holy Spirit but neither modern Christians nor John the Baptist were sinlessly perfect or knew all there was or is to know. We do not know everything and we do go through trials we cannot understand but that does not mean we cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit while enduring the trials and confusions of life.

    Dear GiGi

God with us and God the Son are two totally different things.

God is with us through his son Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus has been elevated to the right hand of God.

Act 2:32-33 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Jesus is raised by God and exalted.

If Jesus is God this verse does not make sense.

    God exalting God?

    How can he be coequal?

You mentioned relating Adam to Christ.

I didn't do that the scriptures did.

Paul's letter to the Corinthians 15:45

Paul is comparing Jesus to Adam

The first is physical the second is spiritual.

If you go back to 1 Cor 15:21

Notice here that Jesus benefitted from his own sacrifice.

All in Adam died. Notice Jesus died.

God raised Jesus from the dead.

Jesus is the first fruits of those of Adams race.

The rest will be raised when Jesus returns to this earth to set up his kingdom on this earth.

1Co 15:21-23 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But every man in his own order: Christ the FIRSTFRUITS; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

I find the 23rd Psalm to be a perfect synopsis of the entire Bible, from Genesis through The Revelation. Said Psalm is a mini Bible that I memorized many years ago and have since recited in my private thoughts at least once a day all those years, but often I recite it many times for the calming effects because the words are so perfectly what the entire Holy Bible is and says. The 23rd Psalm says it all. It is a healthy brainfill. Try it.

Sheila, it's all about believing the words of God.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born, an a time to die .....

God has preordained for each of us our lot and the time it happens, therefore we can rest in him that all will end in perfection.

I believe there were many reasons. 1st with all & any of those things, they would cause attention to themselves. 2nd, judgement made by others, 3rd they would blend into society easier, 4th earn their reputation, by working, shopping, living amongst the local population.

Think about it, when you see people with suitcases, briefcase, Bible, etc.? You think things before you meet them, it might even give impression of temporary etc. Also remember the leadership was already seeking ways to kill Christ. It could & would've caused them more danger. Luke 9, John the Baptist had already been Martyred, John 9:7-9,

    Hopefully these are helpful

Free Greek literature lessons for everydody

The greek word CHARIS which is often translated in Engklish as Grace means gift. The word CHARISMA (plural CHARISMATA) means gift. DIDo not DIDOMI is a verb, it means I GIVE. DORO (plural DORA) another word in the greek text means PRESENT.

When in greek we say that we get saved by God's grace we mean that salvation is a gift/present, not a wage for good works. When we say that God's grace sustains us we mean that God give us His power to keep going though difficult situations in life. When we say that a person has grace (charis) we mean that that person has a gifted talent since birth, believers say from God, atheists say from nature.

Of course we find the word GIFT in the greek prototype, hundred of times i.e. Now there are diversities of gifts (CHARISMATA), but the same Spirit. (1 Corinhtians 12:4) and so on.

So salvation is a gift from GOD. That is completely different from the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to God's children for use in church's service See 1 Corinthians 12:1-13. Those gifts (spiritual not natural) work or SHOULD work in church. There is also a difference between Spirit's gifts and Spirit's fruit which is mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23. Those are also gifts but they are something different from the gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:1-13.

The Word of God is simple. I wouldn't suggest that we all learn Greek or Hebrew to study the Bible. Just take as it is.

I don't intend to insult you but some things must put in order

    God bless you.

Praise the Lord, that in His wonderful way - He helped us both to 'stumble' into this forum! Ha ha!

It's a blessing, really, to have 'just enough', and if God wills, 'a bit more'. That circumstance keeps us leaning on the arm of our Beloved, trusting Him step by step.

Israel stumbled in their prosperity; they grew fat, they kicked against their Maker. And..how easy it is for us to do the same! I think it was Charles Spurgeon who commented, "What more can we ask if we have 'enough' for today?" "Enough" today is, after all, abundance! Praise the Lord.

I am blessed to hear the testimony of the Lord gracing you and your husband through 42 years of marriage, parenting, and service in the Kingdom of Christ! Praise the Lord!

I have been saved almost 40 years, and I often think the song 'Amazing Grace" is my own testimony: 'Through MANY dangers, toils, and snares I have already come; tis GRACE that hath brought me safe thus far, and grace shall lead me HOME!" AMEN!

Life in the Lord is a mixture of cloudy and rainy days, and days filled with sunshine and bliss - and through them all -- He has been, is, and ever will be faithful!

Have a wonder-filled day in Jesus, sweet sister....

    Blessings!
