I think 1st: it's helpful to be ready personally for our personal "time" of accountability. Romans 14:12, Matthew 25:31-46,

When people push end-times fear it blinds the perspective of our personal lives & robs joy, & time. This is the day the LORD has made, let us rejoice & be glad in it. Philippians 4:4, Psalms 118:24,

Matthew 24:36, no man know the day nor hour, not even the angels in heaven. Jesus gave us much to understand closer to that time. Matthew 24, Mark 13, 2Thessalonians 2, if you notice a common command in these "be not soon shaken, in mind, or be troubled...."

Does the Holy Spirit intercede for us or does Jesus?
  • GiGi - In Reply on 1 John 1 - 2 years ago
Dear, Jim to equate the sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ with Adam, a created son of God who could not resist a simple command

of God not to eat of one tree when he had many tress he could eat of, is offensive. One who is truly God cannot sin. Only Jesus

never sinned. Only Jesus is the One and Only Divine Son of God. He is unique and solitary, being both fully God and fully Man.

Adam was not both human and God. He is called a son of God, because He was directly created by God, without the cooperation

of humans to conceive a child. But Adam was only a created human being. To say that either Adam and Jesus are both God or

both only human is faulty logic. It takes faith, however, to believe Scripture that teaches that Jesus is "God with us".

Mishael, Thank you for reminding me to go out being more prepared than I often find myself to be. We are often in such a rush to

get things done. At times when there is someone in need outside of a restaurant or grocery store, I invite them to come in and I

will buy them lunch or dinner. I try to have water in my car to give out. I need to add some food to my water supply, as you

suggested, to give out. When I am driving by one who is needy and cannot stop, I stretch out my hand and pray for God to

send someone to help them. We may not be called to do great things, but can make the best of occasions to help the "least of

    these".

Thank you for the reminder and nudge. We are called to spur one another on to love and good deeds ( Hebrews 10:24)

    Mishael,

God bless your tender heart! When someone is asking for money outside a restaurant of grocery store, I have asked them to

come in with me and I will buy them a lunch or dinner. I should do this more often. We are in such a hurry so much of the time,

it seems. But your response reminds me to be more conscious about this and respond more often to those in need. We may not

be ones to do "great" things in this world, but can humbly be obedient to God and do good to "the least of these" as often as the

Spirit leads us to do. Many times when I do not have any water or food in my car as I drive and see such needy ones, I stretch

out my hand to them and pray.

Thanks for the reminder and nudge, Mishael. We are to spur one another on to love and good works. ( Hebrews 10:24)

    Simonpeter Masya:

Rain symbolises the HOLY SPIRIT, in the Old Testament God poured out HIS SPIRIT on those he choose to fulfil HIS WORK. He has given the former rain moderately.

    This is the former rain.

Under the New Covenant the Holy Spirit became available to all mankind,

    This is the latter rain.

Passover was fourteen days after the beginning of the first month in the Jewish calendar.

When Christ died and was resurrected at Passover, the FIRST MONTH, it fulfilled this prophecy in Joel 2:23

The former and latter rain, the out pouring of the Holy Spirit on mankind.

Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth."

I find it very Interesting how the FATHER addresses

    "The righteousness of the righteous"

I think today we call these people "the self rightious" these people hear the WORD but don't do what the WORD tells them.

And what does the WORD say to us anyway?

HE, the"WORD" said "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN"

We must all experience the new birth , that of the HOLY GHOST coming to dwell within us only then can we rest in HIS righeiousness and live , otherwise we are fools if we believe we can be saved by simply believing,

What I'm trying to say is many people are fooling themselves thinking they are saved when they aren't. If I were one of these people and I knew what I know now, I'd be on my face before the LORD and I wouldn't get up until I saw HIM face to face and heard HIM call me by my name and I received the gift of the HOLY GHOST .

Dear Alvin, when you stated that Jesus told rich people to sell all that they have, this was not a blanket statement he made to

every rich person. It was specific to certain people who inquired of Him what they must do to obtain eternal life or to satisfy the

commandments. I think that he stated this in order to challenge these people in the area that had the most hold on their hearts.

If someone has a boyfriend. girlfriend, spouse, children, job, material items that are most precious to this person, Jesus

challenges us to be willing to forsake these if needed to follow Him. But this does not mean that it is needed for ALL to forsake

    these things.

Abraham was blessed by God with great wealth for his time. He also was given much influence among the people around him.

This was true of his son, Isaac, as well. David was blessed with even greater wealth and power as king of a united Israel.

Neither of these people needed to forsake these rich blessings for God. But with Solomon, who was blessed even more than

David with wealth and luxury, these things led him into corruption and idolatry. So, he would have been wise to forsake these

things for God and pursued God wholeheartedly. Being rich is neither good nor evil, just as being poor is neutral, also. It is how

we live out our situation that matters-that we do all for the glory of God and keep our heart as David-a man after God's own

    heart.

Thanks Kay, I, too, stumbled upon this site as well, since I wished to begin reading and studying the KJV, which is a translation i do not have in my home, yet.

I agree with what you've said. We are entering our retirement years and therefore, making financial adjustments from having two incomes, to (now) one, and in a year, to just our pensions and SS. So, we will be going back to the years that we needed to be frugal, as opposed to now where we have a "comfortable" income. We have known what it is like to have very little, just enough and a bit more, and being quite comfortable and able to help out our grown sons as needed. Each "phase" has its blessings and challenges. I am so glad that my husband and I have walked with Jesus all of our 42 years of marriage. Knowing that all good things we have received have come from God and we can trust Him with our daily needs has kept us going, for sure.

    Hello Tom,

Like others who have responded, I think that John was in a state of doubt. Perhaps he was depressed which led to doubt and a sense of hopelessness, knowing he faced death by being beheaded. He may have wondered if he had "gotten it right" concerning Jesus. he needed encouragement. Being a prophet, he was satisfied with Jesus' reply because Jesus replied with prophecy. "the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are healed, the dead are raised up and, the poor have the gospel preached to them. Blessed is he who is not offended because of me." (Is.29:18, Ps 22:26, Is. 66:1) are referenced for this reply from Jesus. John knew OT Scripture and he knew what Jesus was referring to. This report strengthened Joh in faith and in fortitude to face his beheading.

As stated, Elijah had a similar experience of doubt, as did the apostles (see Thomas).

This account causes me to know that, should I face a similar time of doubt and/or persecution, the Holy Spirit will bring to mind Scripture to build up my faith and strengthen me, whether in my mind, or by reading the Word, or by the words brought to me by a fellow believer. Jesus does not abandon us when we doubt. He does not leave us unprotected, though he may allow doubt. He is near the brokenhearted. He is our sure help in times of trouble. He is the Resurrection and the Life. So, whether we live or die, we live to Him, our Savior. "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." ( John 6:68-69)

Hello Bridgette, I've liked that name since I was a child & I had a friend named that.

Looks like you said the "gift of worrier" I've had Southern family that would say that. It's probably also called something like "gift of burden " in some churches, sometimes like a discernment that something isn't right, & prayer, intervention is needed. Romans 11:29, 1Corinthians 12, & 13, it seems more like the prophetic gift, to me. You've had great answers about warrior.

But we are not to worry, Philippians 4:6-7,

We are also given talents & things we all can do individually that we ourselves can do well, others aren't necessarily as well at. Those also are giftings of GOD. I don't think we usually know clearly all our giftings but sometimes people see those easier because the things that's 'easy' for you, isn't 'easy' for them. Philippians 1:6,

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Hi Bridgette.

Here's an earlier reply from Brother Jesse to a question similar to yours.

Brother Jesse, I hope you don't mind me sharing this.

According to the Bible, the only gift that is given to a believer is the gift of the Holy Spirit. There is scripture that talks about the "gifts of the Spirit," but the word gift is not the word that means a gift that is given.

If the Lord leads you to do so, I would encourage you to do a study in the New Testament on the word gift or gifts and you will see that the word gift or gifts is either in italics, meaning it is not found in the original Greek text, or it is the word CHARIS which means grace. It has nothing to do with a gift that is given to us.

This is where we get the word CHARISMA from which means an expression of God's grace.

The word DIDOMI in the Greek language is another word used for gift and it literally means a gift that is given. Again, if you do an honest study on every place in the NT where the word gift or gifts is used, you are only going to find one place where the word is used and it actually means a gift that is given. It is the gift of the Holy Spirit. That is the only gift that we are given. Every other place you find the word gift or gifts it is going to be the word CHARIS or CHARISMA which is an expression of God's grace, not a gift that's given to us.

We are only given one gift and it is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

    God bless.

Manuel: The day of the Lord began when John the Baptist came preaching the kingdom of God is at hand.

This ONE DAY, a day called TODAY has been going on now for two thousand years.

Zechariah 14:6 And it shall come to pass in that day (of the Lord), that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:

We are somewhere inside the hours of that day now and the light is neither clear, nor dark.

Zechariah 14:7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time (the end of that day and the beginning of the next day) IT SHALL BE LIGHT.

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are THE TEMPLE OF IT.

Revelation 21:23 And the city (you are the new Jerusalem), had no need of the sun, neither the moon, to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Zechariah 12:7 The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah FIRST, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of (new) Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.

Matthew 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

Matthew 27:53 And came put of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city (new Jerusalem, and appeared to many (as ministering spirits).

Zachariah 12:8 And in that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of (new) Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David (Christ); and the house of David (Christ) shall be as God, as (the image of) the angle of the LORD before them.

    Email from ALCJ this morning:

"In a horrific development, a SECOND state legislature is considering a depraved bill that could legalize iINFANTICIDE up to 28 days AFTER birth_this time, California. We're taking urgent action for life TODAY.

By intentionally using the word "perinatal," which has a drastically different medical meaning than prenatal (before birth), these disgusting bills would prevent even an investigation where a living child was allowed to die between one and four weeks AFTER birth. That's infanticide.

We know the abortion industry worships at the altar of abortion. We saw New York enact its live-birth abortion law and the former governor of Virginia discuss how in a late-term abortion, the "infant would be kept comfortable" on a table while the decision is made whether to kill the child. But we've NEVER seen anything this evil.

We've testified in Maryland and are preparing to take action in California to defeat these infanticide bills."

Mishael Comment: Abortion is not birth control. It's a child sacrifice to an ancient demon named Molech/Moloch. It's written in the Bible. Use the SEARCH BOX and look it up. It's on YouTube too with illustrations. Let's all be in prayer for the ALCJ attorneys. Thank you for your prayer support.

    Hi Thomas.

May I ask, What's the purpose?

    Does it save lives?

I agree correct answers in this area is good and knowledgeable,

But you didn't pose a question, just a challenge.

    Here's what's important.

1 John 5:11-13. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

When the Lord returns we all will have to give an account.

    2 Corinthians 5:10.

I would love to receive one and here this. Matthew 25:21.

I don't think I'll hear that spending all my time chasing down anymore that believes in the rapture.

But I would urge anyone to get their household ready and be watchful.

We have to be careful on how and when to engage because some find and treat the bible as 'Just" fascinating, or "Just" Interesting and treat the books as a great conversation piece.

    There's no virtue in this.
  • Kay - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 4 - 2 years ago
The modern rapture doctrine was never taught by the early church. Study John Nelson Darby and a Scotish girl named 'MacDonald' from whom this theory emerged.

Let us consider these verses in the KJV of Matthew 24:

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

AFTER the tribulation of those days........the angel GATHER TOGETHER THE ELECT!!!!!

Corrie Ten Boom's whole ministry that the Lord gave her was to warn Christians of the coming tribulation. She herself knew much about tribulation, having lost her whole family in a concentration camp! On one of her ministry trips, she was in China; Christians there told her about how American missionaries lied to them, and said they'd never have to go through tribulation, assuring the Chinese believers that before suffering-- they'd be raptured away. Then came Mao's tyranny - and Christians suffered horribly! Worse yet, many stumbled in faith because they were NOT raptured!! They thought that Jesus had 'let them down'!!!! What a dangerous doctrine!!

Christians in so many places today go through great and fiery tribulation, and experience hunger, cold, thirst, imprisonment, torture and death. We dare not ignore that, lest we stumble as well!! We must have our loins girt, and seeking the Lord now to have grace and strength to endure! He who ENDURES to the end shall be saved! Amen!

    Blessings to one and all....

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-16

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are ASLEEP, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so THEM ALSO WHICH SLEEP in Jesus will God bring with him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord SHALL NOT prevent them WHICH ARE ASLEEP.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST.

Then WE WHICH ARE ALIVE and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Mishael comment: I hope you're using a Bible version that is not the King James Version?

The Bible says the dead Christians are "raptured" first.

Please do not say it again because it is heresy!

    Thanks a bunch Chris.

I understand the prison conditions among other things could have triggered some doubts in John's mind, as was the case of Prophet Elijah.

Elijah, was fleeing the wrath of the evil King & Queen, who sought his life for humiliating and killing those false prophets of baal. He claimed he was the only one who feared God; but God revealed otherwise.

I believe God, could have minister to John, through words of wisdom; words of knowledge, words of revelation, an angel or even through a vision while he John was imprisoned.

This would have been consistent with the Holy Spirit fullness, removing every doubt about who Jesus was and what his mission was all about.

I reckon the secret things does belong to God, and that he revealed otherwise to us is ours as declared in the book of Deuteronomy.

Someday we will know. Thanks again brother Chris. Always enjoy your take. God bless.
