    Sorry, Barbara,

    the tribal name is Nakoda.

Also, Nakoda has something to do with Jainism or Hinduism or Buddhism, but I could not get much info on this.

    OK Chris,

I am glad you posted on this. I, myself, am pretty thick-skinned as well. But, in this instance, felt moved to speak to Cecil's post. It is good to be reminded that this forum, at its best, is one where people speak their minds without demeaning another person.

So, I take my own advice to heart in this, too.

In regards to 10 Commandments as put by Bro dan, I also have Gods 10 Commandments from my KJV and they differ quite significantly. I do know from Scripture Daniel 7:25- And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

The Catholic Church system has changed Gods Law by excluding Gods 2nd Commandment, changing the 4th Commandment (Worshipping on Sunday) and cutting the 10th Commandment into two.

Here are Gods 10 Commandments from my KJV.

    Exodus

And God spake all these words, saying,

1 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

3 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

4 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

5 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

    6 Thou shalt not kill.

7 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

    8 Thou shalt not steal.

9 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

As a Christ follower why would you NOT want to try keep holy and follow these commandments?

To disregard, you are telling Jesus that you don't love Him. John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

The story of Lot's escape and in fact the theme of this whole chapter is the pathetic example of Lot; who is amazingly described in the New Testament as a rightous man; in fact who was "tormented" seeing what was going on in that city. It is hard to escape the Laodicean parallel here of those who think they have need of nothing; but are poor; miserable; blind and naked.

Verse 8 with the response to the hordes of Sodomite ready to rape the angels and Lot himself is just disgusting. His "consolation prize" of the two daughters; already at least espoused if not married to other men to save his integrity was perhaps known to be a ruse to all parties concerned; he must have known they weren't interested in natural relations with women. Nonetheless; it demonstrates weak character.

Things don't get any better afterwards either. Lot diddle dalleys around and finally he and his family are taken by the hand and pretty much dragged out of town. Then comes the pathetic request to go to Zoar; despite the clear command to go to the mountains which amazingly the Lord allows the angels to permit. Finally comes Lot's wife turning back just when she almost escaped and dying. After all that it appears Lot was shocked enough to leave for the mountains after all afraid that God may destroy that city as well I would suspect. Finally; the daughters losing hope of having children by any man (thinking perhaps all men were dead in that part of the world) got their father drunk one by one and indeed got pregnant. Apparently, the wine was an important commodity and it would appear Lot was in the habit of drinking too much as a result; no doubt of living in a place like Sodom. Let us be thankful here for the grace of God; for those who seem too far gone in sin can be VERY backslidden believers; sometimes only God knows but eventually He chastises all those He loves.

A lot is going down in this chapter. The previous chapter saw Abraham laughing about having a child; now Sarah was caught doing the same thing (v. 15). Then; the focus went toward Sodom where the two men (angels) went on to see what was up in the city (verse 22). The "Christophone" (Preincarnate Christ) remained; and there was a sort of bizarre inquisition at this point by Abraham as to whether God would judge Sodom if a minimum of 50 righteous souls were there; and he continued to press the Lord until he reached 10 and was able to get God's assurance that the city wouldn't be judged even if THAT many were there. The only reason it would seem that he would do this verbal contest was because Lot was there with his family. Lot's delivery wasn't clear to him at this point; but would soon occur.

In some ways; it is ironic that in a whole city of men almost all of them were disposed to unnatural relations with men; and the two son in laws of Lot's daughters thought the warnings were a joke that the angels gave them. This caused the daughters to sleep with their father thinking there was no one around to provide children after being surrounded by men previously. They went from great wealth to escaping by the skin of their teeth; whereas Abraham spent time in a desert yet God's promise never failed. Lot's wife as I mentioned in another commentary turned into a "pillar of salt" loving the wealth of this world more than God. She ignored the warning not to look back; and we must heed that call today as well.

Here we see the separation of Lot from Abraham. There was nothing wrong; technically as to the decision to separate to have enough room for their flocks and such; but clearly Lot focused on the lush land and not the "exceedingly" wicked men in Sodom which he somehow myopically neglected in his decision. Abraham now was able to see in the barren land he lived in as basically a nomad in tents with the full picture of God's promises for the future. We are reminded how the unseen is more important than the seen. Temporary pleasures in Lot were enough to cost Lot's wife her life and likely she was unsaved (I suggest a piece of literature from Chapel Library entitled "Lot's wife" for a very convicting look at this woman who despite having all the privileges of truth in a pagan society looked back at the world against God's directive). Lot himself; although decreed as a believer typifies those who "escape as through the fire" which could also be an allegory of those who at the last minute escape God's wrath. Nonetheless; Abram (to become Abraham) would inquire of God on Sodom and no doubt was able to intercede as he and the rest of his small group were the only ones to escape. Abraham asked God to spare the city even if 10 righteous existed; clearly Lot was on his mind. God obviously communed closely with Abraham; in many ways like He did with Moses; telling Him of great promises.

Thank you GiGi for your kind words & support. Actually, I didn't look at Cecil's response as derogatory or demeaning in any way. I think he was simply questioning my prophetical interpretation abilities rather than of my faith in Christ. I'm quite thick-skinned in this regard (i.e. towards any perceived personal attacks; when one has had some serious encounters in the work of the Gospel, any supposed abuse falls off as 'water from a duck's back'). So, I don't believe Cecil meant any harm, & as you know, we are quite constrained in correctly expressing our thoughts by words on paper (or, screen), we sometimes apply a sentiment to others that may be quite incorrect. So, I appreciate your sensitivity to our various responses & giving a much needed woman's perspective that is often so important to bring us balance - I think there'll be an end to this conversation soon, as I have no more to offer him. Again, thank you for your kindness.

This passage shows Abram's wanderings from Haran to Caanan and then to Egypt in the rest of the chapter due to the famine mentioned in verse 10. At this time Abraham committed the first of two errors in concealing the identity of his wife (in the second he called her his half-sister which was technically true). The result of this was the same; God's covenantal marriage bond perhaps was accentuated with the fact that this was a Prophet's wife; who was to be part of great blessings in God's overall plans for the future of His people. Self protection was the motivation here; however clearly Abraham was lacking proper trust in God's faithfulness to complete His promises; which of course repeated later on with the aforementioned same mistake; as well as being convinced to listen to the voice of His wife to sleep with Hagar when the promised offspring wasn't yet produced by Sarah. She even laughed at the Angel (likely Christ Himself) when she was near 90 and Abraham even older at the prediction of a child being born in a year to them. This part of his journey also was part of the process eventually separating him from Lot who barely escaped from the "favorable" dwellingplace he settled as compared with Abraham. Although the beginning of the chapter doesn't mention a covenant; clearly God's Word is enough to ensure a done deal with His own progeny being blessed; as well as the whole earth eventually through the Messiah (the true children or spiritual offspring of Abraham).

    Hi Grae

In answer to your question about keeping all the laws of Moses ? and sacrifice a lamb every morning and every evening ?

My understanding is the 10 commandments are Gods Law/ Moral Law and is unchangeable, binding all of every age and over rules Man's Law.

Law of Moses is Ceremonial Law/ Sacrificial system. it's rites pointed to our promised Saviour, Jesus Christ. After sacrificing his life for us, Ceremonial/ Sacrificial system became null and void. It is the purpose of the enemy to lead people to confuse Gods Law/ Moral Law with the Ceremonial Law.

I have a problem that I am certain has an easy answer. How long did Abraham spend in Egypt since Sarah gave Hagar 10 years after they came back to Canaan. Ishmael was born when Abraham was 86 minus one year of being with child and then 10 years in Canaan. Abraham left Haran when he was 75, thus 75 from (86-1-10=75) leaving no time for Abraham and Sarah to live in Egypt.

I'm asking for prayer for citizens of Canada (and others around the world in similiar situations) whose lives are being disrupted by the power-hungry, atheist, and evil control freaks. I just watched a video of police on horses trample two innocent people in Canada standing in a public place and I am so sick of seeing such evil from people- in this case it was caused by Trudeau and his evil communist minions. I pray these people survive their injuries.

It's the same deception in how the oppressors oppress innocent people, then when they express that they don't like it and some have the courage to stand up, the same oppressors then attack them again with names and labels to make them into the bad guys. It's similar to how Germans were brainwashed people into believing Jews were inferior and a threat to them therefore they killed them.

We are seeing the same level of evil in Canada, and the US and other countries are in a similar position. Lefist propaganda pushes lies to make the ordinary citizens seem bad. It would not surprise me if they next tried to brand them or label them with a Jewish star. Covid passports were also discriminating against people in this same manner.

If anyone disagrees with my concerns, please hold off on responding, because this is a prayer request for peace for innocent people and am not happy about the injustices I'm seeing. I know lying and deception when I see it and we're seeing a lot of it. It's unbelievable how people are still believing the lies around the plandemic. The head of the FDA recently admitted on a hidden video they are paid off (bribed) by the pharma companies so they will approve their experimental products. They're profiting off hurting and killing people. If that's not evil, I don't know what is.

Prayers for that the oppressors will leave innocent people alone and that evil communist dictators like Trudeau are exposed and brought to justice. They all need Jesus.

Reference Corinthians 11 how should we fit what is said here about women, which looks very much like the position expressed in the Koran, into todays world and equality of sexes?

Also, in my reading I find constant reference to the Law of Moses a law that is 4000 or 5000 years old and Jewish?

Additionally Abraham's faith was confirmed by his obedience and faith when it was tested by God telling him to offer up his only son Issac. Hebrews 11:17-18 says Abraham held both that Issac was his only hope of inheriting the promise God had made to him and put his trust in God's ability to raise the dead if in obedience he offered Issac to God in sacrifice.

While Abraham was not required to go through with the test to prove that God was this faithful to the promises Abraham received, God's only Son had to complete the test at the hands of His Father to grant Abraham the fullness of the promise and blessing given to him. Christ's resurrection is the proof that both the Father and the Son completed the test fully in order to uphold His promise to Abraham forever and God indeed provided the Lamb Abraham told Issac about by faith. The fulfillment of this test and obedience by Christ did not come to us by our keeping the law, not even the Ten Commandments. It comes to us who bless and share Abraham's faith.

    Dear FREE

I understand what you are saying here about angels. They exist and God send them to help and protect us. They really are all around us who believe. But, I do not remember anywhere in the Scripture where it instructs believers to seek to see angels or even make contact with them. It is God who chooses whether we see them or encounter them as Abraham or others did. These giants of the faith did not seek to have an encounter with angels. God have angels visit them as He willed.

Like many things that involve the spiritual world, we should be cautious of encouraging anyone to seek an encounter with any beings except for God Himself.

Does anyone else feel that Russia will be pivotal in the last days?

Ezekiel 38:3-4 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

Daniel 8:7 pops up, and God says "I will bring thee forth, and all thine army...." No more holding them back. This is happening right now, before us.

Putin at Yearly address March 1, 2018: "They have not succeeded in holding Russia back," said Putin, referring to the West, which he said had ignored Moscow in the past, but would now have to sit up and listen. "Now they need to take account of a new reality and understand that everything I have said today is not a bluff." [Hypersonic Arsenal]

    Hello Connie,

You are right that God is not human like us. Nor is He an angelic being. Both humans and angels are created by God. But God is uncreated and completely Spirit. He does not have a body or "parts" like us or animals. Angels have a spiritual body, but God does not have a spiritual body like the angels do. He is only Spirit and does not have a form or occupy a specific amount of space in heaven or earth. But people take up physical space on earth and angels have a form, so they take up space in the spiritual realm.

But, as the Bible reveals, God the son took on humanity and became a man-Jesus Christ, who was fully God and fully man in one Person in one body. He lived, died, rose again, and ascended to heaven bodily. His physical body was uncorrupted and upon His resurrection, His body was transformed into the type of body we will all have when we are resurrected. This body is physical as ours will be, but incorruptible. Jesus will always be fully God and fully man in one person in one body forever. When He comes back, He will come back bodily. In eternal live, we will see God in Jesus forever. So, God, who is eternal Spirit, added to Himself a human body to the Person of God the Son in order to save us. It is such a mystery. But in heaven, we will understand more fully and will be completely awed by the Person we see as God-Jesus Christ. The Father and the Holy Spirit do not have a body or form, (and Jesus did not either before He became man), but we will experience each person of the Godhead (Trinity)

in Jesus, as Jesus said that He and the Father are One.

    See John 14:7, 9-11 John 17:6-19
