The Bible clearly teaches that angels exist. They are a spiritual creation made by God. Gabriel visited Zachariah and Mary to announce the conceptions of John the Baptist and Jesus. Jacob saw a ladder connecting heaven and earth and saw angels ascending and descending upon it. Abraham was visited by angels repeatedly. Angels were seen at the gravesite of Jesus on the day of His Resurrection. Angels were seen in the heavens by the shepherds at Jesus's birth. Angels were seen at Jesus' ascension into heaven. And if you read the book of Revelation, it is full of angels, including Michael. I agree that the angels were created before humans but they are not all Jewish, as you stated, because Jews are part of the human race, and are angelic in any way. Angels do not have a religion.
But Scott, I think you have stated a grave error in saying there was one god-El Elyon prior to Moses and another Yahweh in the time of Moses and beyond. There is only One God. That is clearly stated in Scripture. Scripture gives Him many different names over the course of history. You named a few.
As I understand from my Bible Studies that our souls go back to our Heavenly Father. We are asleep in Hell, which is our graves, until Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour comes back to judge each and every one of us, even those who have passed away before us.
There is no such thing as "Hell" as people have been led to believe. Rev 20: 10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
We are each responsible for our own sins, so we do not inherit a particular sinful tendency from another. We give way to temptation and sin by our own volition. No one else makes one sin but himself.
This said, Adam giving into temptation brought sinfulness into the human race. It is in everyone we encounter without exception. No one needs to teach toddlers how to sin. Our nature is corrupted because of Adam and so sin tends to win out when we are tempted until one comes to Jesus and can live by the Holy Spirit's power who indwells us and sanctifies us.
Dianna, no one is born with a tendency to lie particularly. Everyone is born with the corrupted nature that ensures that we will give into any sin that can tempt a human. In fact, Scripture says that wicked people invent new ways of sinning. (can't find the verse, sorry). So, we each may develop certain propensities for a specific type of sin through repeatedly giving in to temptation of this behavior or from keeping company with people who also participate freely in a certain sin. But there is not necessarily given at conception a particular area of sin that will be that person's nemesis throughout live. Sin itself is our enemy, and no one needs to teach a person to sin, but we do learn certain sinful behaviors by living in a world and human population corrupted and weakened by sinfulness.
Hope this helps
On this site we do not get a chance to really know one another deeply, as we cannot meet in person and have a lengthy conversation back and forth about our life in Christ as friends do. So this response to Chris is very off base, unkind, and arrogant. Nobody likes to interact with one who speaks like a no-it-all. So, humility on this forum is important. We can have firm convictions concerning Scriptural interpretation and doctrine. And we can present our viewpoint in a sure way without attacking the character or Christian walk of another, as you have done with Chris.
I know that Chris can speak for himself in response to you, but as a reader and having read Chris' contribution to this forum over the past 4 months, I find him to be one who is mature in the Lord and knowledgeable concerning Scripture in a wide sense. He provides helpful information to many here. Also, as a reader, I think it is appropriate to call out someone who is coming at another on this site in a manner that is disrespectful. I am speaking of you in your response to Chris.
I am glad you have come to this forum. Like all of us, I hope you will come each time with an attitude to share your view, learn from others, and grow in your Christian life. I think it is fine to be straight forward with others as long as one is not questioning someone's character or Christian faith. We can post disagreements with someone's viewpoint or Scriptural interpretations. We can even state that we think someone's has expressed error or false teaching on here. But I don't think it proper for one to tell another what they should be focusing on in Scripture and pursuing understanding of as you did. God is working in all of us to learn and grow from His guidance in Scripture. He does not have everyone learning from the same portion of Scripture at the same time. Nor should this be the case. When people are delving into the Word in various books and chapters, we all benefit, as God leads us to share here.
In reply to your discussion about there does not appear to be a clear indication whether man was created on or before the sixth day (on the 5th). Man's creation was said to be VERY good; putting it above all else apparently.
I refer to KJV Genesis 1:27, 31, where it says, 27: " So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them
31: And God saw every thing that he made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Genesis 2:1: Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Dear Lord Jesus, Jonathan is seeking a godly wife. Bring her to him soon. We know that it is good for a man to have a wife and a woman to have a husband. Prepare both Jonathan and the woman You draw to him for the life-long love relationship You desire for them to have in You. Round out the rough corners in their lives. Remove sinful and unfruitful tendencies in their characters. Bring them to maturity to enter marriage well ready. We ask all these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
I will pray for you today.
Dear Lord Jesus, Comfort Doris today and tomorrow and every day that she goes through that presents hardships for her. Bring to Doris Your wonderful peace amidst what she is battling. Remind Doris of your sure promises that You will not leave us nor forsake us and that You have overcome the world. Bring relief and release to Doris in this time. Cover her with your blessing and strength. We ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
Amen. Thank you for your detailed explanation of the grafting between the two olive trees. I agree with you, FAITH is the key to remaining in the cultivated olive tree, for both Jew and Gentile, because now we are all equal - in God's eyes.
I believe this verse captures the essence of this completely.
1 Corinthians 12:13
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."
God Bless You.
I'm speaking of a specific point in time because I know it like a road map. Your context is off, timing of events is causing you to conflate the narrative.
I've studies for decades. I understand scripture all too well, details.
When you know Biblical history like a text book, but can't see duplicity, or ritual, your not seeing the complete picture. You don't move in the spirit of prophesy.
I still have no idea what you proclaim as a Christian, how you could have no idea of the prophets, and have such a strong opinion. You didn't say a word about your beliefs that struck me. Tell me your Christian view of the world to come from today forward.
You should know the end-time trumpets 5-6-7 and the order of events. Anything else cones from your imagination.
Yes, when time is up God reestablishes Israel with the saints. Isaiah 14:2 Can you tell me what trumpet this happens at?
Everything Sinful, sinful instincts, are all consequences of the fall of Adam and Eve.
Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
This is a result of the nuclear ocean attacks in context with the day of the Lord. The waters turn blood red because the 200 mega ton weapon killed everything in the water. Then the beast persecutes the saints beginning the 42 month great tribulation.
So now we can appreciate the significance of the "number" pertaining to munitions within Russia's arsenal.
We envision 2 different end-time scenes for society. You are truly an optimist.
The day of the Lord is cruel and for America, there will be nothing left, not one brick left upon another.
The boaters will wear Covid 19 masks when passing by for the stank.
Who am I to tell, that will have depth to believe what I'm saying?
Everyone I know spiritually dances to their own tune. A spell.
No one I know says they are worried about my warning Ezekiel 33:1-7
Should I stay to tell everyone that didn't believe me, that I was right?
I don't mind dying, but not that way, in 2,000 degree flames.
I have choice. Revelation 18:4
Thank you for the update on your grandmother. I will continue to pray for her now that I know more of what to ask our Lord for concerning her. I hope she will continue to respond well to treatment and become more coherent as the days pass by.
God bless you and her today.
Yes, it is true that our natural nature is weak and sinful, unable to perform the requirements of the Law flawlessly. From the very beginning, even with Adam before he sinned, a Savior was needed because of the weakness of our natural nature which was weak and able to sin and then corrupted by sin after Adam sinned. So, humanity needed Jesus from the beginning of humanity and throughout history. Praise God for His perfect purpose and plan fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
Alex, I really try to follow your train of thought in your posts. You make some good points. But I just cannot be in agreement on your doctrine about the Jesus or the Holy Spirit being multiplied in us. God's nature cannot be multiplied or transmitted to any creature. The Holy Spirit in us is not born a new creature. God is re-created again and again in believers. But the Holy Spirit does create a new creation in us that is our own spirit, regenerated by the Holy Spirit to serve God. Your doctrine is heresy and repeating it in nearly every post does not make it more true. It just creates a stumbling block to other believers who may give place to such erroneous doctrine when they read it in your posts. I know you mean well. But you have misinterpreted Scripture concerning this doctrine. When you go into this narrative in your posts, it discredits any point you try to make that may be sound. Every time you begin this narrative, I stop considering whatever is said from then on because I do not wish to entertain heresy. I am just advising you that you do not need to promote this false doctrine in every post. You can speak to the topic of the thread without reverting to this tired false narrative. People will be more open to consider your viewpoint if speak to the topic without it.
If you trust in the resurrection of Christ and the promised gift of the Holy Spirit both given to us on Sunday by the Father as the only basis for your being an adopted son and heir of the Father you will gather in honor of that on Sunday.
Comparing the glory of the Covenant of the Law instituted by the blood of sacrificed animals to the glory of the New Covenant in Christ's blood is like comparing the glory of the moon to the glory of the sun. The moon has its glory to rule the night, but that glory derives its light from the sun hidden by the shadow of the earth and is only outward on its surface. The moon's light shines and fades in a cycle depending on how it is positioned relative to the sun and the earth. The glory of the moon in the night must give way when the glory of the sun rises and shines its light to rule the day. The sun's light shines from within in itself in continuous daylight and never falls into the darkness of night. As long as the face of the earth is turned towards the sun, all who walk in its light walk in the day. Saying that a Christian is under the law and the promise of the Spirit at the same time is like saying we should walk under a Solar eclipse in the moon's shadow and not walk in the full light of day.
The glory of God revealed as the Father. Son and Holy Spirit to those who walk by faith far surpasses the glory of both the sun and the moon He created.
Agreed, through faith, Gentiles become the children of Abraham, who by faith obeyed God, which was counted to him as righteousness. So, if we are children of God as Israel is, it is by faith. And, Abraham, chosen by God before he had demonstrated faith, responded to God in faith by living in obedience to God's commands to him (which predated the Law of Moses). But it is clearly stated in Hebrews 11:8-12 speaks of how Abraham obeyed God because he had faith in God. Also, read in Romans chapter 4, speaking of God's promise to Abraham being based on faith, not works. Yet, Abraham needed to act on his faith to receive the promise. Isaac was not conceived without Abraham's action done with faith. Therefore, we are to obey God through faith in Him, believing that He is true to His promises and also that His commands are good and best for us.
Is this a trick question? Daniel 8 describes Antiochus Epiphanes in 163 BC attacking Israel. Who are the other 2?
Yes, in Romans 11:24 Paul is speaking of the two olive trees. the Gentiles (wild) and the Israel (cultivated). A cultivated tree is one that has been tended to by a gardener. A wild tree has not had that superintendence from a gardener. So, if we work within this analogy, it is clear from Scripture that Israel was cultivated by God over the centuries to be His special, set apart people through whom He would reveal Himself and His eternal plan of all nations from The Seed promised in Genesis 3:15 and to Abraham. That Seed being Jesus, the Messiah. God, throughout the history of the nation of Israel, was preparing them receive the Messiah. Israel had the history of God's superintendency. God cultivated them through the giving of His Word through Moses and the prophets. God pruned them through the discipline of captivity and other judgments. Because of all this they should have been ready and willing to receive Jesus. But, they rejected Him.
The Gentiles are the wild olive tree (still an alive tree like the cultivated one, i.e. one humanity). However, the Gentiles were not cultivated by God. he did not tend to the Gentiles like a gardener would tend to their planted trees in his orchards. the wild olive trees (Gentile nations) were allowed to grow at the whim of nature (their sinful nature). The wild olive tree was not pruned for better, healthier growth (spiritual). The wild olive tree was not grown with wisdom from a gardener (the good instruction of the Word or prophets).
So, the Gentiles, (wild olive tree) did not know the true God (gardener). Nor did they know the promise of the Messiah (The Seed). Therefore, they were not looking for a Savior like Israel was. But, according to God's compassion, mercy, and grace, the Gentiles (wild olive tree) will be grafted into Israel (the cultivated olive tree) by faith in Jesus, the Messiah, just as those of Israel who believe in Jesus will remain in the cultivated tree by faith also.
