    Adorn

A-dorn' (Gk: kosmeo) has its primary meaning, "to arrange," "to put in order," "to decorate."

"So are my ways higher than your ways"(Is.55:8-9)

We shall compare the simplicity of Christ required of women in the early church, 'that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array';(1 Ti.2: 9; 1 Pe.3: 3) on the other hand we have the bride of Christ, "the holy city, new Jerusalem". (Re.21:2;19:7)"

    How come?

"Marriage of the Lamb is come" is a time for rejoicing. The honor of the bride is in the newness of relationship begun with Christ , from betrothal to the marriage supper where the array of precious stones mentioned in Re.21:19-21 are created under the true Light and created in heaven! "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Re.21:2;19:7)." What is most precious in earth is glass catching the rays of the sun and natural eye is deceived.

King Abimelech of Gerar while compensating Sarah for causing distress to her modesty made amendments, "And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee,"(Ge.20: 16)

Abraham as 'a covering for her eyes' has an equivalent. "And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes."(De.6:8) The Spirit implies Abraham as the double for the Son, the word become flesh. ("I am the Way").

Good Evening, we have had an incident come up in the last few days that will mean some real inconveniences, added expenses, as well as blessings in disguise.

The upstairs bathroom began to leak into the wall space and the bedroom ceiling below got a big bubble which leaked quite a bit.

Long story short, insurance will cover some of the repairs. We hope they will agree to replace flooring along with the ceiling and wall repairs.

We have been talking of remodeling for a very long time, but my husband really does not want the inconvenience of it all. But things really need to be done. Our house is 45+ years, we have lived here 29 and we have not done much unless something needs to be repaired.

Well, it seems that God began our remodeling for us (the up side of this situation). Please pray that my husband will be willing to go all the way to do all that needs to be done on the ground level after this insurance job is completed. I received a sweet inheritance when my Mom passed 18 months ago. We banked it. I told my husband today that Mom would want us to invest it in the house because it isn't making much money in the bank and investing it into one's home helps the sale price to be more than what we would get with it in its present state.

Anyway, Not only is it really hard for him to spend money on big things anyway, but he hates things to be in disarray. It stresses him out and he can become really grouchy. Please pray for each of us as we go through this problem. And pray for him to realize that other people have much worse things happen, like a fire, or significant flood.

    Thank you for praying.

    Richard,

I have come to know that the more one prays for others, the more one's faith grows, the more opportunities one may have to let another know that you will pray for them or better yet, to pray with them, and even better is when people ask you to pray for them knowing that you are a believer and "talk to God" and He hears. That is a witness that can open doors for relationship, evangelism, meeting someone's needs, etc.

It is hard to be in a fellowship where prayer is not prioritized or practiced often. Having people I can count on to pray for me is precious. And I love to pray for others, because I have long taken what Lk. 11:13; Mt. 7:11 says about the Father being good and willing to give good gifts to His children-which we are, and especially gives us the Holy Spirit to fill us up with the Presence of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Richard, I will keep you in my prayers, especially concerning your itchy skin. These winter months can dry out our skin as we get older and it will itch if not regularly moisturized-but I would suggest that you get a dye-free, fragrance-free moisturizer for sensitive skin. Aloe vera gel may help, caladryl lotion (it comes in clear now). It may be dust mites, but it seems that if you are sensitive to these critters, then you would have had symptoms often. Have you been skin-tested for allergies?

Another non-medicinal thing to do with itchy skin is to cool it down. So using ice packs can help. You said that the house is warm, your skin may be reacting to the heat, as in heat rash. Also, if you are sweating more with the warmth, lighten up the layers and switch to 100% cotton T-shirts, shorts, pants if possible.

The age-old oatmeal bath can help, Eat more carrots and other vegetables high in vitamin A. Also those with high levels of Vit. E, C, D. These vitamins do help with balancing out the skin and improving its resilience to irritants. I only wash my closes in hypoallergenic detergent and double rinses. GBU

    Praying offensively rather than defensively

The only offensive weapon in Ephesians 6 is the sword of the Spirit. Today's megachurches have tended to make things into a sideshow by defining success as someone with a lot of possessions. Indeed God CAN honor a prayer regarding material things but it is unwise and naive to ignore verses such as Deuteronomy 17:17; for it can lead to total apostasy later when greed takes over.

Playing games to underestimate the intensity of the evil we face does no one any favors either. Those who would be hesitant to warn sinners of their grievous state and need of repentance so as not to "offend" anyone are probably the same ones who downplay how serious the conflict is with the demonic horde under Satan that have pretty well taken over society; and worse the church in a large part making those who want to engage in serious battle seem like they are outcasts. Worse still there are many who look at Satan as somehow ruling over hell (as opposed to perhaps guarding Hades in the past as seen in those held captive described in Psalm 68:18). Men are blinded because of their own sin but 2 Corinthians 4:4 shows how Satan is the agent the Lord allows to keep men in this state. Part of praying for someone may indeed be for the enemy to cause enough misery for them to cry out to the Lord; this seems commonplace for those who are Prodigal type individuals.

We see when multiple people in particular persevere in prayer for someone things often eventually happen. For those who won't respond; often they are taken away and we never have contact with them again. We don't have the luxury of knowing if anyone has another day on this earth; but we do know the Lord will save all of His elect.

Also; of course the praiseworthy attributes of God's Holiness; power; might; honor and glory should be acclaimed with conviction. This comes from TRUE worship in song and scripture reading. It also comes from a broken and contrite heart ( Ps 51

    Persecution and Biblical counsel:

    Matthew 5:44 states:

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

The scriptures show multiple times such as Matthew 27:19 with Pilate's wife (who may or may not have come to saving faith) and with Paul in particular (with the jailor who he had a chance to bring to faith along with his whole family) in Acts 16:30-33. The jailor even showed compassion in washing the stripes from whipping of Paul that apparently occurred earlier. There were others who Paul was able to bring to faith who were often wives of important officials.

Jesus; of course knew what He was talking about since we ALL start out as enemies of God. This puts us on an even playing field so to speak; so that we cannot understand how God can change the heart of a serial killer but not of someone who always seems to be a "nice person" whether our family members or friends. It isn't so much important to browbeat someone as to their sinfulness to convince them to repent; ASSUMING that we are preaching about the sorry state of human souls in general with unregenerate hearts. This is how the Gospel was preached; those in authority were given general and very harsh rebukes by Christ as part of the general call. WE certainly need to clearly speak of how Jesus saved us from total depravity or however we want to describe our sorry state before salvation.

Matthew 10:28 shows what we should NOT fear (our death) and what our persecutors SHOULD fear (see also Philippians 1:28).

Easier said than done; actually not possible apart from the Spirit giving us the utterance (see Luke 12:12).

We must remember God determines when our last day is on earth not Satan or man. No doubt Satan desires 24/7 to destroy us so we must always be vigilant and not let our guard down. The same should be said in prayer for those suffering persecution today.

    Hebrews 11:16 states:

But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

    Romans 8:38-39 says:

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It would seem that we are coming to the fulfillment of both Psalm 83 and one of Isaiah 17:1 very soon as well. At some point a false peace will take over at the first seal of Revelation and it could appear to head that way immediately before then; followed by the Rapture. We probably have years ahead; if He tarries of unprecedented persecution and sad to say martyrdom. We are said to be hated of ALL nations; then the end will come ( Matthew 24:9). This could have a final fulfillment during the Tribulation but also could be speaking of today.

Prayer of course is paramount. I know someone who has recently moved to Israel in the ministry (I will leave out his name and position for security sake). He and his wife see firsthand the displacement of hundreds of thousands from the border areas being attacked on multiple fronts. There are those behind the scenes funding and staging the mass demonstrations in several cities today who no doubt will not stop until they are forced to and have no less goal than overthrowing our government and making this into a Muslim country with Sharia law. No doubt we should continue to pray for individuals the Lord puts into our lives. Some things are better avoided; but we all need to search our hearts to trust God if we need to defend the life of another in these situations of mass looting and no doubt increasing violence. We all need to prepare for martial law at the very least. The end is near and now it is vital that we preach it and trust God iving obediently

No brothers or sisters. My dads sister is in her mid 80s and we have stopped get togethers as of last year as it is hard for her to drive to this part of the city.

I hope you don't mind I thought your general prayer was good; (the one you had posted in your part 3 the other day) and I sent it to a friend of mine as a good sample text for prayer.

Part of the problem lately is this itchy rash on my skin; so far the doctors can't seem to pinpoint it. I suspect it could be dust mites; and with the heat ducts never cleaned (something else my mom refuses to expedite) it is very unhealthy so it could be dust mites or something to that effect. House generally overheated as well as you may suspect. I am fortunate that I have people praying daily for my parents including specifically for my rocky relations with my mom.

Honestly; I can't think of anyone even in my church who will take a few minutes to pray with me in person; although maybe the small group people would if I asked. With hardships and persecutions to come will we stand and strengthen one another?

Some will use human strength with weapons to fight; others no doubt cower in fear. I'm sure I have some more thoughts I could post on that matter; suffice to say I appreciate your steadfastness and can only hope others foster relationships where they can trust someone on a regular basis to pray for their needs.

    Agape; Maranatha.

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

    Richard,

No need to apologize for not continuing to post about God's attributes. I am happy to continue and welcome your input as well.

God is so amazing and we have much to know about Him and much to celebrate about His wonderful nature that blesses us so everyday.

    Dear Richard,

I will pray for you to find a more appropriate living arrangement than the one you are now in.

At some point we may need to take steps that will bring realization to our elders that they need to be in a more intensive care situation. You have been through a very serious illness and recovery in recent months. And your need for more income is an important one to realize and pray for. It is amazing that both of your parents are in their nineties. That is unusual.

If the Lord has you continue to be in your parents' home to care for them, then I pray for Him to strengthen you in every way and bless you in providing for your needs.

If the Lord opens up a better living situation, then I pray for Him to provide the job, salary, and hours needed to meet your financial needs.

Do you have siblings to help out with your parents?

Am seeking to relocate locally if possible mainly to expedite a more proactive move toward nursing care for my elderly parents.

I have done all I can to emphasize the importance of nursing care at home along with serious discussion on a nursing facility as my parents are both in their nineties with failing health. The Lord through prayer from my brethren locally no doubt has kept things from being worse then they are with my mom's emotional outbursts. I don't feel I can peacably stay here anymore with my dad's occasional fits of rage adding to that (he has always been like that but with his mind going it is more complicated). He needs someone to help him with basic daily routines as it stresses my mom too much.

I will likelyneed to get extra work if I find a place locally; my other option is to move out of town across the state where I used to live. This would force my mom who is the only one that can still drive to get another driver; with the services already available with her insurance. She should have someone else to trust if something comes up and I'm at work anyway. I am searching christian sites for places locally; although most are expired. I am looking for short term for now; in case my mom whose mind is still somewhat working comes to her senses and gets the help she needs. I should note that my parents have more than adequate finances to take care of these things. I gave up full time work before moving in with them across the state and currently work part time. I have had to pay for their funeral expenses; they don't want any service but just ignored it so I added them to a plot out of town and have payed most of the 10K out of my own funds.

It would be ideal to find another believer to live with but no doors are open yet. Pray His will is done.

    Agape and thanks;

I will keep you in prayer. I suggest that you get tested in case there is something going on with your brain. That surely isn't your fault if that is the case and it would be best not to delay this. There could be other physiological issues as well. IF your identifier here indicates your age it is the same as mine; so I am sure we can both relate as to how things change as we get older.

A general thing I would say is that those who are prayer warriors could have the tendency to hesitate getting medical treatment or trusting the establishment; while those who are too far in the other direction are not as open to prayer as they should be. My best example was the 3 weeks or so I had to spend in the hospital (in a couple sessions after going home for about 2 days) due to Appendicitis and later intestinal complications). The Lord had me there first off to solve the mystery of many months probably years of mysterious stomach issues and illnesses. Also there was a great spiritual battle at the hospital; between someone who was playing satanic music day after day and one or two Christians who came my way. It helped me to appreciate those who do care for us when we are helpless as I was tied to tubes down my nose to my guts as well as most of the time on a feeding tube in my veins. I was able to thank those who thankfully at that facility are fairly competent with cards for the work they did and enjoyed prayer with the one chaplain who was a believer.

I would also suggest praying for others as a regimen for yourself. That is part of the reason I mentioned my hospital experience.

Ephesians 6 of course is helpful; and remaining in fellowship. I pray that you find friends who will guide you as well as wise medical counsel.

    Hello, Robert.

I will pray for you. I need double shoulder replacement at some point since my cartilage in each one is nearly gone. I have shoulder pain that is relieved for a few months at a time with steroid shots. So after the shot wears off I have pain for a month or so before I can get another shot. I feel the grinding of the bones often and pain with movement. So, we can pray for each other.
