    Dear Leslie,

I do not know you, nor you me. We have an opportunity to get to know each other on this forum. Your posts to me and Adam are quite combative. That is offensive to me. But even so, I would love to hear your explanation of the trumpets since it seems to be up front and center to you at this time. Otherwise, I do not wish to interact with you until your language takes a kinder tone. I am sorry to need to say this, but, I do think it is best if we are respectful when we "speak" to one another. Like I said, I am interested in learning from others about such prophecies. Then I can check what someone says to the Word and decide how I will "file" it. So I would appreciate you sharing your knowledge on this site. But, please, do so without being condescending and accusatory. We are hoping that you become an ongoing part of our fellowship here. So, I am looking forward to learning more about you over time. Have a good evening.

    Roy, Acts 18:28,

1st Paul the one given credit for writing book of Acts was not around Jesus CHRIST during the days before HIS Resurrection, Acts 8, Paul was actually opposed. That might be the past tense reference, if there was any reference to that being past tense at all.

2nd I read Acts 18:28, as a fact that Jesus was Who HE said he was, the same as: is who HE said HE is. In USA I've lived around many dialects of English = in the "deep south" Eastern coast the 1st would make perfect sense to most. English in the deeper South still has many phrases & words used in KJV like 'Breeches' However Michigan area the second way, may be understood better.

3rd Please read the entire Books of Matthew 1, Mark 1, Luke 1, John 1, starting with 1st chapters to see who Jesus CHRIST was & is.

4th maybe most important is the Old Testament points to Jesus being CHRIST all throughout. The same Jesus in the Books of the New Testament. For instance all throughout Psalms points to things Jesus did, & suffered, ' Prophetic fulfillment ' : Psalms 2:6-8, Psalms 8:2, Psalms 27:6, Psalms 16:10, Psalms 18:44, * Psalms 22:1,7,8,14,15,16,17,18,24,27,28,30,31,

    Zechariah 13:6, Isaiah 53,

    Hopefully that helps

    Good evening, Roy

If you are referring to Acts18:5

"When both Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ." (NIV)

Here Paul is telling the Jews that Jesus is the promised Messiah (Anointed One) as "Christ" (Greek) "Messiah" "Anointed One" or "Messiah.

So, these Jews are dispersed Jews from the diaspora and resided in the area of Corinth (think Greece). They had not been in Israel when Jesus lived, so they were hearing the gospel of Jesus from Paul with Paul making specific note that Jesus was indeed the One promised to come in the Torah of long ago. As Jews, they would know what Paul was referring to in his statement. That is why they immediately opposed Paul and blasphemed the Lord.

Paul shook his garment and absolved himself of any part of their blasphemy, saying "Your blood be on your own heads; I am clean." and stated that from then on he would go to Gentiles with the Gospel. Later in the chapter, the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, encouraging him saying, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you or hurt you; for I have many people in this city."

I am glad the Lord did this to strengthen Paul in his resolve. Perhaps Paul was considering just leaving town, but after this vision, he "continued there for a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them" (verses 9-11)

    Wesley's Notes for Acts 18:28

He (Paul) spake - Privately; and taught publicly. Probably he returned to live at Alexandria, soon after he had been baptized by John; and so had no opportunity of being fully acquainted with the doctrines of the Gospel, as delivered by Christ and his apostles. And explained to him the way of God more perfectly - He who knows Christ, is able to instruct even those that are mighty in the Scriptures.

18:27 Who greatly helped through grace - It is through grace only that any gift of any one is profitable to another. Them that had believed - Apollos did not plant, but water. This was the peculiar gift which he had received. And he was better able to convince the Jews, than to convert the heathens.

People's Bible Notes for Acts 18:28

For he mightily convinced the Jews. That he was a man of God of great power is shown by Paul's allusions to him. See 1Corinthians 1:12 3:4-6.

Thought I'd share a perspective about prayer requests. I recently saw a comment about someone asking for prayer for her pet. And I think someone may have responded inappropriately. I don't recall where I saw it or who they were so I thought I'd just offer my input in general about prayer requests in the off chance that they see it.

Philippians 4:6 says to ask God for things. I don't think anything is too big, or too small to ask.

    1 Thessalonians 5:17 - pray without ceasing

    Ephesians 6:18 - pray always

With these verses in mind I think we are welcome to ask God for all things, but I do think they should follow God's moral law. And some things I will ask God for, but may not feel comfortable asking others to pray for.

For example, I don't want to ask God to help me commit a sin, and I wouldn't feel right asking God to help me hurt someone else, etc. Some things may seem small, but may not be to someone else. Pets to some are their family members they love. And I think they are gifts from God to allow us to have that unconditional loving attachment and feeling of joy. So, I understand how people want to pray for them.

I also respect that others may feel differently. Some have been terrorized and attacked by dogs for example and that could be hard for that person to genuinely pray for someone else's dog, for example, so I think that person simply should pray for other things instead. I personally don't feel right praying for material things or anything that can easily become an idol and puts an emphasis on treasure on earth, rather than treasure in heaven.

I feel more comfortable praying for a strengthened relationship with someone's family or to learn how to trust God more. Etc. So, I think in some circumstances if I cannot genuinely pray for a certain thing then I simply pray for those I can and maybe someone else is willing to pray for someone's specific challenge.

Also, some want their exes back, but I instead pray for God's will. God bless.

In the Acts Chpt 18 I find the phrase "that Jesus was Christ" and the "was Christ" raises a question as this appears to be a reference to an earlier and stand alone entity that is perhaps buried in the Old Testament - is this the case?

    Thanks for your help

Dear God we ask in Jesus' name for a miracle healing on Sue's body. Thank you for her courage for hanging in there for so long and dealing with this difficult challenge. We ask for a complete healing and trust in your will that you know what is best and your plans for her. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Adam, man cannot live by the Old Testament alone. Do you have any prophetic observations you'd like to share? Perhaps you can discuss the coming of Elijah (in the order of) Malachi 4:5 before the coming of the dreadful day of the Lord. Or, if the sealing of the tribes prior to the day of the Lord corresponds with 'your young men dreaming dreams'. Joel 2:28. Since the sealed lie dead in the streets for 3 1/2 days, while the beast continues, these visions are most likely to be realized in that 3 1/2 day window prior to the day of the Lord, when the spirit is heavily upon us? Have you ever thought about any of this, the wonder, the mystics, Adam?

Robert Charles Northup, Have I offended you sir? I'm in the process of praying for the Lord to lead me to a church body. If I'm not welcome here or my prayers are too petty and unimportant.please let me know. I will show myself out. May God richly bless you. :-))

I feel so blessed to be here and feel the Lord has put it on my heart to pray for many requests here. As well as sharing my requests for myself and others. But if anyone feels I am abusing this privilege please feel free to say so. I won't hold it against anyone.

If I have offended you, please forgive me and accept my apology.

I'm not so sure. The reaction is different at the sixth seal; with people asking to be hidden from God and the Lamb knowing judgment is come (or begun). Compare this to the reaction AFTER the earthquake in Rev. 11. In that event; it is true that in Jerusalem glory was given to God after they were Resurrected. However; immediately preceeding that verse; we find the exact OPPOSITE reaction; namely a worldwide party (no doubt accellerated through today's technonogy) complete with gift giving within the three and a half days between their martyrdom and subsequent earthquake when they are taken up to heaven. That is after all SORTS of plagues are allowed by these prophets to torment men and there isn't much evidence of repentance there either. The exact timing of these plagues seems to indicate that they last from the first seal judgments and it continues through the fourth trumpet judgments for several reasons. First of all the TYPE of plagues would be more similar to the trumpet judgments with fire coming down with the exception of the 3 and a half year drought which would repeat Elijah's earlier feat. There was to be NO damage by the four winds until God's servants (144,000) were sealed; and no doubt that includes the 2 Prophets under that protection as well. It should be noted that the first five seals don't show destruction of the earth; as the trumpet judgments do. There is no geographical locality specified in the sixth seal; it would seem to be a worldwide event. The local one in Jerusalem surely seems different as there are no other places mentioned as the sixth seal where all mountains were moved out of their place. The most logical approach is that indeed; after the fifth trumpet the demon from the abyss that will possess the Antichrist brings the power through the Beast to kill the prophets. That does indeed indicate the midpoint of the 7 years (looking at Daniel of course as well). The bowl earthquake is clearly later using similar logic.

    Hello Rune,

    you can google "Septuagint".

This is the Old Testament transcribed from original Hebrew to Greek in the mid 3rd century B.C. at the request of the Jews. At this time in history, the whole region spoke Greek and Hebrew had fallen out of use long before this time, so the Jewish people as a whole did not speak or understand it. the transcribing was done in Alexandria, Egypt.

So it is really the oldest transcription of the original texts we have. Online, it is translated to English. You can Read the passage you wish and see if it helps you more that the KJV or any other translation. The next oldest translation is the Vulgate, a Latin translation of the Septuagint for the OT and the Greek NT, translated by Jerome in around 400 A.D.

I believe. You could google that as well. The Vulgate was the Scriptures in use for about 1000 years until some translations began to be made in English, German, Anglo Saxon, etc around 1500-1600 or so.

    niki,

the book of genesis is so deep. I love how the best commentary for the new testament is the old testament. Now this is just my interpretation but by using Romans 9 and Galatians 4, the allegory of Isaac and Ishmael as well as Jacob and Esau showing that Isaac and Jacob represent Christians while Ishmael and Esau represent the jews.

By using the allegories from the new testament, you could say the curse that Noah put on Canaan/Ham could represent Jesus cursing the jewish nation with the fig tree.

However, the nations of Canaan were super wicked and God commanded the children of Israel to wipe them out in Deuteronomy 7 and other places.

the name of God is purely the LORD. It is mentioned in the Bible almost 7000 times. The proof that is God's name is the apostles, when writing the new testament transliterated the name of God from Hebrew to Greek and use the name the LORD. Yahweh is a name of God not found in the kjb. God revealed his name first as the LORD God, then God Almighty, then the LORD(Jehovah), then Jesus Christ. The name of Jesus is above all names. According to Revelation 3:12, God will reveal a new name of his in heaven.

When I see people using the name Yashua instead of jesus, it shows me that they don't believe the Greek New Testament and did not even make it to Matthew 1:1 which says

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Matthew 1:21 says And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
