"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
One of the darkest chapters in the Church history was demonstrated in Germany when it was mandatory for the service in churches to be conducted while Hitler's Mein Kampf and The Bible side by side. This came about firstly by hijacking the name of Luther as he godfather for the regime on the basis of this Augustinian monk sided with powers-that- be during the Peasant Revolt 1520-30. He sided on the basis of ("Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation-"Ro.13:1-3) This is not the doctrine of Jesus who said, "My kingdom is not of this world"( John 18:36). It came in turn from doctrine of his Father. Luther having won the support of temporal powers against the Church of Rome merely returned the favor. But during the 1000-year Reich his position became the tradition, ("Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition."-v.6). This is the problem which we have in the selected passage. There are not middle ground between God and mammon in which you hide. "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad." (12:30) How Luther scattered the gift of God abroad so the Satanic cult in 1940 would drag the church through mud serves as a stark warning in our own culture wars. What shall Christians face some centuries hence?
Four cardinal directions are north south east west. The Spirit writes in the conventional sense "For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the south. But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another."( Ps. 75:6-7)
The word of God is same in whichever part one is looking at. 'Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." So from Abilene to Seoul the word shall prevail as Jesus is the same yesterday and forever. The point is Jesus is the Savior of the whole world.
With regards to the quote I was referring to the one I had mentioned earlier in the post,- with regards to the partaking of the body of Jesus.
The Spirit gives us directions which have a different significance. God put man in a garden east of Eden. After expulsion man moves farther and in the Book of Revelation it points "that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared."(16:12) In terms of divine Judgment we have the north "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north."(Is.14:13)
If we compare Revelation 7:3 with the mark of the Beast in Revelation 13:16-17 we see a mark of ownership; in reality representing either God in the first instance; and Satan in the second. The exact appearance of God's mark is not given while that of the Beast is identified in the original language as "chargma" if I have the spelling right. That is something on or just beneath the skin; whether it is a sort of tattoo or computer chip it allows the world to visibly give allegiance to Antichrist.
God knows the hearts of men; and all those He foreknew to be called and chosen; as well as those who are reprobate or unbelievers. Satan is well aware of who we are as believers; as it is the only threat to his kingdom on earth at present.
Tne mark of Cain gave him the ability to avenge sevenfold anything done against him. ( Gen. 4:15). This was something identifiable which avoided his immediate demise; perhaps showing the future fulfillment of the mark of the Beast for temporary protection from the executioners and the wrath of men under Satan's pogrom. Following the god of this world always leads to death and destruction of self as well as others. Dying to self to follow Christ brings eternal life.
Of course it is no fun having a target on our back; even now that the enemy is constantly attempting to fling fiery darts at us ( Ephesians 6:16). We should take heart; as he has no time to waste attacking those who are already in his camp and under his control whose unregenerate hearts are blinded to the glorious gospel of truth ( 2 Cor. 4:4). Absent from the body we are present with the Lord ( 2 Cor. 5:8). God is in charge of the day of our death; the enemy can only be permitted to do anything against us. The final conflagration in Revelation 19 when we return in the armies of heaven with Christ who destroys the Beast and his armies is inevitable; the war is won we just fight battles and skirmishes leading up to His victory.
PT. 2
To Moses, He says the same in Exodus 6:3
2 Sam. 7:26 says that The LORD Almighty is God over Israel. He is our God as well.
David speaks of resting in the shadow of the Almighty in Ps.91:1 WE, too, can rest in Him, as Jesus promised to give us rest when we come to Him.
Rev. 19:6 says the LORD God Almighty reigns. He is sovereign! He reigns far above all else. No one can rest His throne of glory from Him.
2 Chr. 32:7 says that the Israelites had a greater power with them than whom was against them.
His great power saves us. Ps. 20:6
Hosea 13:14 says that God has power to ransom His own from the power of the grave and death.
God's mighty power gave the Son the victory over death and the grave in raising Him from the dead to be alive evermore.
Luke 1:35 says to Mary that the power of the Most High will bring about the conception of the Holy One in her even as she is a virgin.
Rom. 1:20 says that God's power is eternal.
1 Cor. 1:24 says that Christ is the power of to those who are called. We do not have the power to save ourselves, but Jesus does.
And in 15:24 Paul says that God will put an end to all dominion. power, and authority after subduing every enemy, crushing them under the feet of Jesus.
Col. 2 :10 says that in Jesus is the head of all power and authority.
Heb. 7:16 says that Jesus had the power of an indestructible life.
How Great Is Our God, Great in Power, Great in Wonder, King of Heaven.
If you take those verses a little further on down verses 15 thru 17 it reads as follows.
11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, WE HAVE NO SUCH CUSTOM, NEITHER THE CHURCHES OF GOD.
11:17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Paul is telling them to remember the ordinances, as he delivered them to them.
He's telling them to remember the structure that is set before them but the outwardly performance of this structure in the way they ware their hair, "WE HAVE NO SUCH CUSTOM, NEITHER THE CHURCHES OF GOD.
He's telling them what is structurally right but they have liberty in Christ.
In other words "Not to be extreme in the outward showing of this.
God bless.
Based in the Word of God, on GOD's six Days of creation and one Day of rest (a total of seven days) plus the Scriptures that teach that one Day is with the Lord as a thousand years, so MANKIND would go through six GOD Days of 1,000 years each (a total of 6,000 years) plus a Millennium of 1,000 years rest (now a total of 7,000 years).
According biblical Chronology, starting by Genesis 5, as follow:
Adam lived .........................130 yrs and begat Seth
Seth lived ...........................105 yrs and begat Enosh;
Enosh lived .........................90 yrs and begat Kenan;
Kenanlived..........................70 yrs and begat Mahalalel;
Mahalalellived .....................65 yrs and begat Jared;
Jaredlived .........................162 yrs and begat Enoch;
Enochlived ..........................65 yrs and begat Methuselah;
Methuselahlived..................187 yrs and begat Lamech;
Lamechlived.......................182 yrs and begat Noah;
From Noah's birth till the Flood 600 yrs.
Total of years from Adam to the Flood=1656 yrs
Notice that the table above is proved by the Word of GOD,Let us study the times until our days by the Word of GOD-the Word is GOD. So,see the timetable below:
SIX PERIODS OF BIBLICAL TIMES -------------------- DURATION
I - From Adam to the Flood-( Genesis 5)---------------1656 years
II - From the Flood to Abraham-( Genesis 11&12)------427 years
III - From Abraham to Exodus-(Gal.3:17)--------------430 years
IV-From Exodus to king Saul-(1Reis6:1(480-84)-------396 years
V -From Saul to the fall of Jerusalem -------------------508 years
VI -From the fall of Jerusalem to Jesus -----------------587 years
Thus,from Adam to the 1stcoming of Jesus -----------4004 years
From Jesus to our days(Christian Calendar)-----------2023 years
Total from Adam to our days ---------------------------6027 years
So, we are living in the beginning of the seventh and last millennium
or seventh and last Day,the Lord's Day
Get ready
1Come,and let us return unto the Lord:for He hath torn,and He will heal us;He hath smitten,and He will bind us up.
2After two Days will He revive us:in the 3rd Day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.(Combined with Philippians 3:20-21)
3Then shall we know,if we follow on to know the Lord:His going forth is prepared as the morning;and he shall come unto us as the rain,as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
John:2:13-16&18-19 -The Word is GOD, self-executing
13 And the Jews' passover was at hand,and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14And found in the Temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves,and the changers of money sitting:
15And when he had made a scourge of small cords,He drove them all out of the Temple,and the sheep,and the oxen;and poured out the changers' money,and overthrew the tables;
16And said unto them that sold doves,Take these things
18Then answered the Jews and said unto Him,What sign shew thou unto us,seeing that thou does these things?
19Jesus answered and said unto them,Destroy this Temple,and in three Days I will raise it up.
2Pe.3:8 -But,beloved,be not ignorant of this one thing,that one Day is with the Lord as a thousand years,and a thousand years as one Day.
Acts 1:9-11
9And when He had spoken these things,while they beheld,He was taken up;and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold,two MEN stood by them in white apparel;
11Which also said,Ye men of Galilee,why stand ye gazing up into heaven?this same JESUS,which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.
1The.4:16
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,with the voice of the archangel,and with the Trump of GOD:
Dan.12:1 -And at that time shall Michael stand up...and there shall be a time of trouble,such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:
He is ALL powerful. There is nothing that is impossible for Him to do except sin and go against His character. He is the Supreme Being whose power is unlimited, infinite in strength and unsurpassed by any power that exists. Nothing can out-power Him.
It is so amazing to think that the whole of creation was made by His own power according to His own will executed by the Son and Spirit with Him. In our creatureliness we know well our limitations and how small our own faith can be in what God can do. We should ask Him for whatever we need and wish to happen in our lives with trust and belief that He is good and more than able to do whatever He wills.
Knowing that God is stronger that angels and demons, men and his inventions, any nation, any governing power, any fore in nature. He can move mountains, literally, if He so wishes, flatten them, dry up the oceans, whatever He wishes to do wit in nature He will do. No one can thwart Him in His righteous works.
Yet, when there are great tragedies such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, fires and so many die or are injured and our homes are destroyed, we wonder why He let "innocent" people be taken by such disasters. He could prevent these things from ever happening.
When people get ill or diseased, when an epidemic takes so many lives, we wonder "Why".
When war happens and people get overtaken by their enemies and so many are killed, maimed, or taken prisoner. We gasp at the horror of war.
But we can know that God is sovereign. He knows who are His in every situation and will do what works best in His great plan. We can always look to Him to guide us in times of troubles and strengthen us when we suffer if He chooses for us to go through these things.
The end of all this is that GOD WINS! The evil one was defeated at the cross and we can know that our inheritance is far greater than we could ever know.
Gen. 17:1 He calls Himself "God Almighty" to Abraham,
Based on this verse do you think people who wear ballcaps at church and forget to take them off during a prayer (or prophesy) is condemning himself?
What about when its cold and men wear a beanie, such as for an outdoor Christmas service?
In my years of attending church I don't remember one time ever seeing a woman covering her head.
This verse is very clear what it means, yet I don't see any Christians following it. Are people displeasing God by ignoring this verse?
I would like to second Brother Jesse and others interpretation of ( Matt 12:49-50)
It's those who are led by the Spirit of God to do the will of God is those who are in the family of God.
Romans 8:14-16 states "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God"
When we are baptized by the Spirit of God we function as a body
1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
This is the Brotherhood that is mentioned here.
God bless
God Bless :)
Just one other quick comment, I know it's just a metaphor; a human soul given wings, and maybe we will when we go to be with the Lord, just please don't mix human souls with angles. We are two completely different creations of God. My prayers are with you. God Bless :)
As for your other concern,, Matt. 12:49, one of the other comments for you (sorry I don't remember who) explained it very well by explaining the use of the Hebrew word in this verse. We are to love God above all else including the people in our lives. I'm glad you are asking these questions. It shows a heart toward understanding God's word. Just be sure you compare any comments to the character and majesty of God including mine. God Bless :)
v.23 Jesus in his human likeness required moments to commune with God. "He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone." As Son of man how he fed multitude must have felt a burden if he did not learn to please his Father in all things. Power of the Spirit of God was his support. "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him." This is the Word component. He was the Word become flesh so it was all the more necessary to fall back upon the bosom of his Father as in the beginning. ( John 8:29)"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."(He.4:15)
vv.25-31 Jesus stilled the storm (8:23-27) Walking on the Sea was an invitation for Simon Peter to show what Jesus meant as his Associate. "And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water./And he said, Come"(vv.28-29)
Instead of looking at Jesus his gaze wandered to look at circumstances and floundered. As his associates our eye of faith cannot be elsewhere. "But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me./ And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"
v.36 Earlier a woman with an issue of blood was healed because of her faith. (9:20-23). It was a novel method to be healed and now it has become the norm in the land of Gennesaret where Jesus landed. 'And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole."
In this passage we have a masterclass in our service to the world as Associates of Jesus Christ. The twelve disciple were learning on their feet and as such their approach to feed the multitude was to go by time motion analysis. They wanted their master " send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals." But Jesus first would check what they had among themselves. He said, "give ye them to eat". Instantly they reckoned what was at their disposal. "And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes."
Making the multitude sit in an orderly fashion, Jesus, "took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude." Here we see how associates to the kingdom of heaven would do. The anonymous boy who brought the loaves of bread and two fishes were also an associate. It is thus we witness before the world as many cogs in a machinery working silently in obedience to the example shown by our Savior Lord. Our time and motions are lock instep with heaven.
Straightaway after feeding the multitude they set about, "And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away." The testimony of 12 baskets before his Father did not require anything other than disposing of the perishable food among the needy which must not have been difficult considering the multitude. Association begun with bessings from God shall indeed go a long away.
Significance of 12 gives as a clue to the Gospel of God transcribed for the flesh and blood.
v.13 Jesus was there not to right the wrongs of temporal powers; nor was he there as a social reformer to create changes from the existing environment but to bring the huddled masses to the light. He began preaching only when they same the light shine on them. "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet," and what in his time was received in indifference,- so he was a prophet without honor' was now beginning to make sense to the generation of Jesus, and feeding the five thousand stands as culmination of the Word, cast forth upon the waters, connecting with Jesus as the bread from heaven. It is thus every word of God shall be fulfilled in the time appointed.
In the Law of Moses towards restitution it is laid down,"If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep." (Ex.22:1) The ox is man's livelihood so man and ox is considered as one. Feeding Five thousand (5x1000) is an indication of symbolic partaking. "Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you."( John 6:53). (In this context number Four signifies The word become Flesh. Jesus Christ as the Savior in terms of four cardinal direction. Salvator mundi, the Savior of the World).
The Spirit gives us a number 5x1000. Thousand always refers to the end times. So Feeding Five Thousand is a tag for the humanity of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of the above mentioned quote from St John. We shall similarly discuss feeding of the the Four Thousand in terms of the Word.
